I'm curious what would a B-1 without a tail would have done?
Of NGAD dream requirements the most demanding is the need for supercruise and the ever electrical power hungry avionics and potential to deploy laser weapons. The deficiencies of trying to shoehorn IRST sensors active visual stealth and other SCI-FI requirements of NGAD into an also robust carrier capable airframe is why the Navy, not airforce needs the lead. The power plant not the airframe is what isn't ready at this time.
The idea of NGAD dog-fighting is ridiculous!

They are upgrading F-22 Raptors so they can be more advanced and go on through the years.

F-35 is designed as a multi-role fighter/bomber/close support aircraft, not a pure fighter as F-22.

NO...his admin had nothing to do with this beyond not canceling it.
No administration brought about NGAD or the latest 6th gen jet. Future forward is constantly evolving. The is the approach with any new aircraft/technologies. 20 year old designs today still provide a great asset to modern warfare. As technology improves, so does the aircraft. As aircraft evolve, there designs improve flight characteristics and capabilities. This is an ongoing evolution. No administration is in control of that. Hopefully, NO administration will ever impede or attempt to control that either.
