The Infra-Knife never overheats if you start pressing the button rapidly before it fully overheats. This will let you keep shooting while it cools down and it will not have a waiting period before it starts to cool. Then just hold the button down again once it's cooled and repeat.

I think the reason it's not used as much is that most people don't realise how the upgrade that adds 3 extra projectiles works. +3 = +300% dmg (+4 & 400% if it's in a purple socket).

Thanks so much for this OddMan. I got this all done within a couple of hours on a Sentinel Interceptor with 4 charged slots in a square, Gun + 3 X-Class upgrades in the slots, and the additional barrel blueprint adjacent to the gun blueprint. 126,800 DPS on Normal difficulty.
Tip: learn the Exocraft Dupe Glitch so you can get a handful of the Infra-Knife Upgrades, then duplicate them into stacks, then you only need one perfect upgrade. You can pack that perfect upgrade up into your inventory and the dupe it as well (so I have 3 of the exact same named upgrade). In about 70 rolls, I got one perfect, and 4 that were either 14/13/6, or 15/12/6 (Fire Rate, Heat, Damage, with 15/13/6 being max) so would have been acceptable if I didn't want to keep going and didn't get the perfect one.
I'll be doing this for all the other components I can as well, and make an absolute monster of a fighter. Then I'll rename it 'The Delete Key'.

Thanks for watching! I think the Infra-knife is one of the most underrated but powerful starship weapons in NMS. The Positron Ejector does the most close-in damage, but the Infra-Knife is the best ranged weapon when fully upgraded due to its DPS.😎
Very Enlightening. Needed this content because of the difficulty in taking down a dreadnought capital ship and or saving a civilian fleet for a upgraded capital ship. Been playing for over a month now and did not know this. I go to a curious mold planet foor my Nanites. Starship battle has been cumbersome up to this point in time. See what happens now. Thanks.

Thanks for the video. I wasn't able to get my infra knife as high as this, but I think thats because the super charged slots were not laid out correctly. I have a S class sentinel ship and was able to get the DPS up to 76k or so. Almost double what I had before.
Thanks for watching! Usually, any damage over 50k with the infraknife is a bonus. You can still get good adjacency bonuses that will boost damage even without connected SC slots.
I found a sentinel ship with a 'T" shape Super Slot lay out and with the Upgrade of +6 Dmg, +15 Fire rate, +13 Heat Diss. Doing 121,000/87,000 damage with Infra Knife. I also have my setting for enemy strength of Standard. I have seen if you have it set to Weak, the damage is even higher, over 200k. On Challenging the damage will go down about 80k. I also have got two ships with the 4 square lay out and found their damage is different as well. One ship maxed out at 92k and the other at 109k with the same upgrades. I'm finding that some ships are more powerful than others. Great Video Odd Man 👍
Hey! Thanks for watching! Nice loadout on your ship! The configuration of the supercharged slots is important when installing weapons and upgrades. I've also noticed that if your supercharged slots are linear (L or T shaped) instead of squared, you achieve better weapon and upgrade adjacency thereby doing more damage. I also need to get back on the hunt for more starships with connected supercharged slots (fighters vs sentinels maybe...). Thanks again for your support!😎

This is insane. Got a Sentinel with the exact same sc patterns and I have to try this. I only use the onboard cannon fully upgraded, and I have only around 40k damage.

Crazy DPS! I have a nice Interceptor with 2 sets of 2 supercharged slots together - I've got my Infra-Knife DPS to something like 78k or so on two of them and still had two slots open to massively increase my maneuverability!!! At close to 80k DPS I'm taking out Sentinal fighters in just a couple seconds and have noooo problems at all taking out capital freighters or pirate dreadnaughts so it's more than enough
Thanks for watching. I've seen some players get over 150k damage with the infraknife. That level of damage output usually depends on the upgrades and SC slot configuration.
I have the harmonic living ship with a supercharged quad box and it takes down freighters before it gets to 10% heat (spewing vent)
My controller has turbo modes that allow me to fire rapidly and never overheat. I recommend it, it's a positive combat experience 👍 happy hunting!

That alone with the B class SC'd for 4 barrels is already at 36k hull 27k shields.

maybe try the lock on feature? And IMO the best way to charge shields is to just charge them with items in a half second click of the buttons. None the less the damage is impressive.
Thanks for watching! You are correct. It's faster to recharge shields through the quick menu, but I prefer to use the Phase Beam since it drains the target's shields while recharging yours.

Hey! Thanks for watching! I've noticed that as well. Certain starship weapons have auto-targeting that leads into the target as you fire. There is supposed to be a wat to turn that off in the settings.

I have 4 supercharged slots in a square, which is the best shape for maximum stats.
With 3x of the same pirate mods I get 126,020.
The weird thing is I have another pirate mod that is max but it only gives 124,000 if I use 3x of it.
Mixing and matching between the 2 mods doesn't beat 126,020

Adjacency with all 4 slots is important for maxing any potential damage, but of the stats of the multotool or starship differ even slightly, the damage output will also change. 😎
I don't know if this video is reflecting something old or what... I'm getting back into the game since the Worlds Pt 1 update, & I find the X class upgrades to be very variable, almost as though there are C, B, A, & S classes within the X-class. Some are great, but some are just absolute crap & not even worth the nanites to sell off; X does not automatically mean awesome... Are you saving & reloading to find good ones? (which I wouldn't exactly call not-an-exploit, my friend 😄) What a shredder tho! 🤘

I know this is late but have you ever tried maxing out maneuverability in those super slots instead and seeing how fast you take out those sentinel ships? I find it much faster even though the dps is lower.

Best way to recharge shields during combat is bind recharge shields to 1 or 2 for instant recharge xD
The main problem with the Infra-Knife is MOST of your shots MISS! since the 5.0 update.

I prefer the Positron ejector, less damage potential BUT the damage is for each projectile.

6:33 if you move the infra-knife itself down and to the left one I believe it would do more dps, or am I wrong on this? The only reason I say this is because it would then be touching the side of 2 X-Class upgrades and the B-Class upgrade instead of 1 X class and the B class. I could be wrong tho I don't have this ship

If all 3 X-class were touching for the adjacency bonus and then had the Q-resonator touch the infra it would yield the max output. Also, in a space battle, if you divert power to weapons, it'll increase the DPS even more.
Do upgrades and tech get buffs when adjacent to each other ??.
If so should I put the tech next to the upgrades or just the upgrades together?

I’m curious how much worse the 3 S class modules are. They are so much easier to get ahold of and killing a sentinel in a few more shots doesn’t seem like it matches the opportunity cost of time spent on finding the perfect x class modules
Thanks for watching! X-class upgrades can be better than S-class, but once you begin pushing into over 100k damage range, it doesn't really matter. S-Class upgrades are good enough.

The S class upgrades are not at those cords. I am in the correct Galaxy and everything still no S class infra knife upgrades sold at that station. Also the X class mods only have two stats not 3 at that location.
Looks like the recent update changed the vendor's inventory. I'll need to double check. Try finding another vendor or X-Class merchant.
The problem with X class is they usually suck. I got 92k with 3 S class mods.
What's the best multi tool weapon?
It depends on what you're fighting against. The Neutron Cannon does the most overall damage but only because it's mostly area of effect.

Thanks for watching! You don't need the S-Class upgrades if you intend to use the X-Class modules. Just be aware that finding the best X-Class module with the best stats will take longer than for the S-Class. This is because X-Class modules can be better than S-Class but as bad as C-Class, so the chances of getting the best possible X-Class modules are lower.
When I run non tethered flight it becomes super jerky. Is there a reason it seems so smooth for you? Am I missing some setting?

Go to the Space Anomaly and speak with the starship upgrade vender who will sell you the Infraknife weapon. Don't forget to purchase its blueprint as well.
Is there a reason why you buy the S class upgrades 1st? You can't just go straight to X Class?

Thanks for watching! The X-Class upgrades can give stats equivalent to S-Class, but it takes a while to farm them. You'll need about 20-30 modules to find one good module.

Hey! Thanks for watching! I believe that the X-Class upgrade is boosting your potential damage because of the Ion Sphere Speed stat (it's usually lower on X-Class upgrades). I'll need to do more testing, but I've found that a lower Ion Sphere Speed stat will boost overall potential damage.
