"45 Years Later and Old Enough to Know Better..." | A Dual Exhibition with Lucas Blok & Will Bullas

As fate would have it, Lucas Blok and Will Bullas serendipitously crossed paths 45 years ago. A friendship was born that has lasted four and a half decades. This month their works are paired together in the Beardsley Room of the Carmel Art Association in a dual exhibition that emphasizes the differences between their signature oeuvres. Lucas Blok’s large scale, contemporary color block abstracts (yes, pun intended) reward the viewer with pulsing, flashing, migrating surfaces orchestrated by Blok’s experiments with the illusions created by each person’s unique retinal persistence. These contrast with visual humorist Will Bullas’ softly applied watercolors in rich color palettes that gift each visitor with either laughter, poignant insights, or both!
