Im a few towns over from webster. I remember when this happened. As a fire fighter this is my biggest fear. I wear a sticker of there numbers on my helmet now as a tribute to my fallen brothers
This is absolutely disgusting and really sad. Shooting at fire fighters is one of the most cowardly things a human could possibly do. If you know the mindset of a responding fire fighter, you’ll understand just how disgusting this really is.
It was this incident, along with a few others, that changed all of our responses where I work. We now have a police officer respond to ALL of our calls, even some medical. But all of our police officers are either EMT’s or EMR’s so they can be helpful. But It’s sad when you have to resort to that.
RIP Brothers. Sad to see this happen. Great job FF 312. You stayed calm through, I'm sure, was a frightening situation. You are to be commended for the updates. To all FF's and family you are in my prayers
Today is year 6, 6 years since these families have seen Chip or Thomasz. 6 years of that 2 firefighters and a police officer have had to relive the nightmare over and over again. Our community has never been the same, Not just West Webster but the Whole Rochester area. This man changed the way fireman respond to calls, He changed how we feel about our first responders. We will never forget
Who shoots firemen? They're only there to fight fires, and rescue people with danger to their own lives. They're one of the most selfless public servants there is, I can't understand how anyone could do that, short of mental illness. And even then it's hard. Rest in peace.
What a terrible event. For those not familiar, this was on a narrow strip of land between two bodies of water. It is just wide enough for the street and the row of very closely spaced houses.
This man had the mental capacity to know he was not able to buy these weapons so he had his neighbor do it for him. Seems like he knew what he was doing! He planned this and he knew what he was doing! He knew the consequences of his actions and he not only killed innocent men that risk their lives to save people that actually need help, but then he took the cowards way out after. RIP (for the brave men that risked their lives)
7 years ago at this time we lost 2 amazing people! RIP Michael "Chip" Chiapperini & Tomasz Kaczowka, know that your sacrifice that morning will never be forgotten! #FF197 #FF435 #NEVERFORGET #SALUTE
To all of my brothers and sisters, in small and large areas, Be Ever Vigilant Please!! It's too easy to be complacent. To think "It Can't Happen Here". It can and does happen everywhere.
That dispatcher and 312 did a hell of a job keeping their cool. People nowadays are idiots. We are out here to serve our cities/communities and already have a stressful job we shouldn't have to worry about being shot out getting out of the truck.
So bad that this can happen in this world. Speedy recovery for our injured firemen and RIP to our fallen brothers. As a brother fireman in upstate NY area I can not believe what these men had to go thru but what a great job done talking to his dispatch center. Thank you to all the police that helped in there time in need. God bless all poilce, ems and fire personal involved. May we never see anything like this again.
just proves moral decay he may have needed help however the parole board didnt think so and niether did the the probation officer handling his case never mind he hadnt had any police contact in almost 10 years but none of tis should be the point the laws are inplace that he shouldnt have had a gun for the rest of his life since that didnt work why dont we try to protect the men and women that protect us anyway we can so either buy a scanner or a gun and learn how to use both RIP all brothers

Eerie to listen to knowing that these Fire Fighters were pinned down by gunfire and dying on the street.
