I also have both, and I'd say it's horses for courses. The Spirit has better fit and finish as well as haptics and ergonomics, and is no doubt a well thought-out and overall excellent tool. However, not being able to access most of the tools with gloves on - not even two-handed - actually made me buy the P4, and I'm very happy with one-handed usability. The blades on the P4 are arguably better, as are the scissors, at least unless you modify the spring on the Spirit's. The chisel on the Vic is very nice, but the pry bar, serrated blade and (sharpened) can opener of the P4 can compensate for it together in my opinion. The file of the P4 is however a makeshift tool at best. The other tools are pretty much comparable in function, although personally, I think the pull saw of the P4 cuts slightly better than the push-pull saw of the Spirit. Currently, I'd say that for my daily needs, I actually prefer the P4. I did make some small modifications on it, though - re-ground the awl to a real point, sharpened the can opener to a chisel edge, de-burred the scales etc. If one-handed usability of all tools isn't requested, I would overall still recommend the Spirit, also because at least here in Europe, it's actually around 50-60 € (ca. 25 %) less expensive.
@@johnflais3776 Well thought out and reasoned ! Full confession , which Colours my thoughts on Multitools , I also EDC a small pair of side cutters , and a pair of real long nosed pliers ( knipex ) with three stripping notches ( I also have the Metric cousin ) , a pair of 100mm Knipex Cobras , plus a PBSwiss 1/4 hex magazine stubby driver .
@@chrisfyfe9212 I think we all have similar "dark secrets" ;) For example, I don't care whether a tool has a bit holder, because none of them offer all the bits I need to simply fix my bike when the seat has worked itself loose (let alone the more specialized tools). So I carry a separate tool for that. And whenever I expect to need a tool more than a few minutes at a time, I'll gear up accordingly. I think the multitool is primarily for smaller tasks that need fixing right now. Modern multitools have become surprisingly good, but comparing efficiency and ergonomics to specialized tools, they're still an emergency solution at best.
Difficult choice between two top tier multitools. I prefer the P4's scissors, pliers, and wire cutter. I use the serrated knife blade, missing from the Spirit. The Spirit's file and Phillips screwdriver have the advantage. P4 pliers and tools are easier to access. Thanks for the video.
I am on the same boat. Those scissors are so bad, almost unusable on the Spirit. Love the aestetics on the Spirit but the P4 was a clear home run for Leatherman on so many levels.
what is your opinion, mx or x, which is better, some people say that the easy opening interferes with the use of the other instruments. Thank you for the advice, I think you are the person with the most experience in these tools.
Hi. I miss the scraper tool from Swisstool. So that i "forged" a mini crowbar/scraper ro fit in the lateral Surge pouch. I hardened then sharpen it. The base material is a very common steel used in ship building. My point is, do you own a titanium mini crowbar, i saw on Amazon, its pretty cheap, 20-40 euros. I did mine in 45 minutes at work from a scrap bar.
Well done P4 💪! Interesting is that 5m ago was a video where Spirit successfully cut 2mm concrete nail and Arc failed. Thank you for the good test and video! Best MT channel!
im thinking of getting a new multi tool i want one with a pocket clip witch one do you think would be the most strongest pliers i have sniped leatherman in half with my bare hands lol i am very strong and i want something that will last
Can opener on viks move forward dued, and how you cutting the paper ,its horor, some how you can not to cut a pepper with absolutely sharp blade.work on it ,by the way sharpness not a criteria
@@diezelle57 You are the best blogger on the topic of multitools in my opinion . I respect your point of view. Unfortunately, the possibility of personal communication on UA-cam is limited, so I will not be able to explain my point of view.

No contest , Vic. For the win !
Spirit MX Clip. I don't see how the one-handed opening pin placed on the knife would interfere with the deployment of the other tools...
Vix is def the winner.
Victorinox Spirit MX ❤
1:17:50 hardened nail? Which size?
Yes, they are hard nails (~concrete nail)/ Ø 2 mm.
Well done P4 💪! Interesting is that 5m ago was a video where Spirit successfully cut 2mm concrete nail and Arc failed. Thank you for the good test and video! Best MT channel!
Is it possible to re-test P4, Arc and Spirit with 2mm concrete nail?
@@qwertqwert-bz9fo Possible but not nice since this test will result in damaged inserts and therefore replacement costs...
Agree, valid point. Thank you for your work! It a great value to MT community.
im thinking of getting a new multi tool i want one with a pocket clip witch one do you think would be the most strongest pliers i have sniped leatherman in half with my bare hands lol i am very strong and i want something that will last
Leatherman SURGE or Victorinox Swisstool with clip.
Oscilloscope and signal generator. Beep? Geiger counter.

Leatherman (Victorinox never sent me a model to present it) :)
@@diezelle57So thats why u pick Leatherman lol?
Victorinox ❌
Can opener on viks move forward dued, and how you cutting the paper ,its horor, some how you can not to cut a pepper with absolutely sharp blade.work on it ,by the way sharpness not a criteria
P4👍👍👍💪
The "open" design of the P 4 handles does not stand up to criticism. This tool was developed by a 3D designer, not an engineer.
