Everything about this seems woefully naive about aviation. You have to have versatility in your fleet and cabins. This is like an aviation fan is “having a go” at what he thinks would be cool.

Southwest and their all 737 fleet would prove you wrong there.
What an all A380 fleet airline needs is a relative large (for a new airline) set of city-pairs that can both 1) handle the A380 and 2) have demand.
This could well be the super jumbo version of Southwest.
All economy (or economy+ for longer-haul flights).

I am unsure whether their model of having an all A380 Fleet would do well. We should take a note of the reasons other airlines chose to retire the A380 like high maintenance and operating costs. We should also keep in mind that the passenger flows are constantly changing, people are opting for better and faster connectivity in regional routes than the conventional routes between major cities. But, I hope they overcome these setbacks and keep the legacy of A380 alive.

(2:57) The name 'Global' suggested to me that they'd have multiple hub airports, and I'm getting the impression that they plan to have just that and expand later on but start with one hub first.
(6:45) I think they silently cancelled it due to safety issues. Even then, someone would've had to bring their own console that has their save data.
I also find it interesting that they don't seem to have a premium economy class.
(8:58) I'm surprised they got their name in the registration, in a way that reminds me of vanity/personalised registrations for cars that some countries allow.

A380 factor aside, if they can offer great value (note, not *cheap*) long haul services, maybe they'll have a shot. However, they'd need to offer a compelling frequent flyer scheme or integrate with an alliance to maximise buy-in from higher-class fliers. If I could fly between Australia and the UK in an economy class that's more tolerable than the current cattletruck arrangements airlines somehow deem appropriate for subjecting humans to for 15+ hours at a time, I would happily pay a bit more to experience that. For shorter routes I'd simply be won over by excellent service, logical well-coordinated boarding process, and guaranteed carry-on space.

It's the brand appeal of the A380 that they hope will make customers specifically seek them out rather than competing to be the best deal on a search engine. Almost every passenger who has flown on the A380 rates it as the best aircraft they have ever flown on. The 777 doesn't have that appeal. Infact, for me personally, the 777 (Qatar airways configuration in economy class) is the worst widebody I have ever flown on in terms of passenger comfort. Without the A380, they would be just another start-up in a fiercely competitive market. Purely because of the A380, they are already getting far more media attention, publicity and free advertising than a start-up their size could even dream of.
I hope they succeed. The A380 (Emirates configuration) is by a huge margin the most comfortable aircraft for long haul economy flights. They are still better in this aspect than the 787 and A350.

We'll see. It seems to make sense to purchase aircraft when there perceived value is low, and they seem like they're trying to compete in a premium market, which means they shouldn't be as constrained on operating costs with "low-cost" carriers. Still the problem with both the B747 and the A380 is getting the seats filled enough on a routine basis to break even, let alone make a profit.

..... looking for a pinch of salt. They cannot create a new approach to the basic concept. The primary goal of air travel is safe transportation from point A to point B, regardless of the promotional gimmicks in their marketing materials. Lengthy security lines and misplaced luggage, crowded airports are external factors beyond the airline's influence. The choice between a no-frills or a luxurious product is in the hands of the passenger. What unique features do they provide that set them apart from other airlines? Lounge access, gourmet food, and high-quality onboard service are already available in the industry. Additionally, the costs of operating a single aircraft or a fleet of four are considerably higher. I'm uncertain about the background or genuine motives behind this startup, but it appears somewhat dubious to me.

Every new airline claims they will "revolutionize flying." People don't need a revolutionized flying experience; people don't want that. People just want seat sizes and leg room to stop shrinking and for customer service to return to what it was 25 years ago without tickets costing an arm and a leg. We don't need crazy gimmicks; just a comfortable seat, a good inflight entertainment system, and customer service that treats passengers like people and not cargo. Don't overthink it. However, I fear Global is going to promise the world in order to differentiate themselves from every other airline and will end up coming out with a very average product in a highly competitive space.

  • @HydroWorldOutlookPrimary5769
    @HydroWorldOutlookPrimary5769 11 місяців тому +3

    Dear Global Airlines,
Nice try, but you're bit too late to the party. Your business model just does not work out. Airbus A380s are no longer produced and the whole reason they are failing economically and being retired by other airlines to begin with is exactly because of their size, cost, and maintenance requirements. Unfortunately, what goes up must come back down at some point, and finding airports to land at that meet their passengers' needs may be just as difficult as starting the business, especially when having to compete with the other huge airlines that already exist. If you had come out with 747s back when hub-and-spoke travel was still profitable, and perhaps offered up a cargo service as well, maybe you could have had a slightly better shot at success. But in the modern world, people care much more about the cost, frequency, and flexibility of their flights then they care about how big their plane is. So I don't think you'll get very far, but good luck, Global Airlines! Let's see just how long you last and just how far in the process you get before your last A380 eventually but inevitably ends up on the scrap pile.
    Respectfully and Sincerely,
    HydroWorld Outlook

So what routes is this supposed to serve, what demand?
London doesn’t have any need for 10-20 more A380 flights per day… unsurprisingly. Is it connections? Through London Gatwick? From where to where? Anything except Europe/Middle East to North America is exceptionally inconvenient.
Where is their market? WHAT is their market? Flying an A380 isn’t a money-printing machine.

It depends how it’s operated surely.
It doesn’t suit most airlines but it certainly works for Emirates And even those with just a few.
The general public likes the aircraft, that’s good but it’s not enough, but if they provide the right product and get bums on seats it’s possible .

@@RasscasseEmirates is the hub and spoke model taken to its logical extreme, boosted by a great geographical position. Global seems to be trying the same thing, but since hub and spoke is kinda dying out, I don't know how it's going to go

Yes, you have to fill these monsters to make a profit from them. They’re not even very good for cargo as a second revenue. It seems very naive to have no versatility in your fleet.

So, to recap: a kid who went to private school and had millions to invest during the financial crisis “grew up poor” because they had a beat up car…? This is giving victoria beckham talking about growing up poor and then telling us her dad would pick which Range Rover to take her to private school in. Why are rich people so desperate to cosplay as poor people?

    We will see.
Another one who wants to reinvent the wheel?
BTW: the A380 comes with a hefty operational price tag! To survive, Global will have to sell their tickets at a much higher price than Virgin or BA, operating smaller and much more cost effective aircrafts.

Do you think Global Airlines will join the One World Alliance or the Star Alliance or the SkyTeam Alliance? According to British Airways, 20--22 cabin crew are needed to operate the Airbus A380 aircraft. Where will Global Airlines get its pilots and cabin crew from? Not many airlines operate the Airbus A380. According to the British Airways documentary on UA-cam, 'A very British Airline' an Airbus A380 aircraft costs "around £250 million". There are so many airlines operating at the moment. Do you think Global Airlines will encourage other airlines to lower their prices? How long do you think Global Airlines will survive in the aviation industry? Do you think Global Airlines will merge with another airline? Air France and KLM merged, Delta Airlines and Northwest Airlines merged, United Airlines and Continental Airlines merged, Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways merged, American Airlines and US Airways merged.

They won’t be joining an alliance. The other members would have to want them to be a part of their club.
Even buying the used a380 for cheap, there is still the variable cost of operating a plane that costs 200-300% more per flight hour than a 777.
Just buying planes won’t matter, you need to have the landing slots and gates. It’s a reality that gates for an a380 are limited especially at JFK or LAX. Hi fly learned this chartering to Norwegian Air replacing the 787 with a380 into JFK. There wasn’t gates available.
