  • Watch how to repair a tear in paper with an almost invisible tape. Repairing papers without obscuring the text or image can be difficult. PEL's Tengu Gummed tape is only 5gsm (standard copier paper is 80gsm) but due to the strong fibre structure of the Japanese paper, creates a strong and invisible repair. When repairing vaulable papers, books, newspapers, documents or artworks on paper it's crucial that the materials are archival, acid-free and reversible to prevent further damage in the future. PEL's Tengu gummed tape is completely archival and acid free. You can buy it here: www.preservati...

I have a drawing on eggshell color tissue paper, there is a tear across the entire drawing, and the tear directions are not straight... would we still use the same technique? also with a large tear is it best to repair in one sitting or do smaller sections at a time. I am a noob at tissue paper repair and your video was extremely helpful. I have been researching this type of repair but search results mostly go to a spray or a fixative but I do not want the paper to buckle so your repair makes the most sense. Good job!

Hi, thanks for watching. Sorry we cannot advise on any specific treatment, you're best to contact a paper conservator.
