We absolutely love your enthusiasm. I wish there was a way for you to trade in that dang engine. Ernie and I get so excited with you and then , bam, engine acts up. You deserve a reliable engine so you can fish your brains out and share with us. Keep those video’s coming. We love them.
Yeah he probably should have went with a Yamaha or Suzuki over that BRP Evinrude. Back when Evinrude and Johnson were owned by OMC they were pretty good engines. But now that OMC is long gone and BRP owns Evinrude I probably even would have gone with a new Mercury over that Evinrude because thats BRP's first shot at buulding an outboard. So anyway I waited awhile and see how they did first.
None of my biz, hope you gave them ,we'll, never mind not my place to say, other than, S URE AM HAPPY TO SEE THAT BOAT BACK, THATS HALF OF. SOUTH FLORIDA FISHING CHANNEL!!! LOOKS AWSOME HEIKO!!!!! GET FISHING BROTHER!!! WAHOOOO!!!!
Hey I have a friend he has something like that and ended changing the fuel hoses from the fuel tank to the fuel water separator and he change the all hose to the engine
Anytime to get an error or low oil. Engine goes into Limb mode so you dont damage engine once you turn off it reset and allows you to get more power. Change out your battery low voltage to engine can be interfering with the computer
ELLIOT IS HALLARIOUS,I remember very well when you found him on the island Pick nick if ok, and you brought him home. Rescued Capt Elliot. Loyal Cat!!!
Ahh, fuel restriction, change the filter between the pump and injectors (maybe even if you have one before the pump). Any work on the fuel stuff can leave particles that don't make it through a fuel filter. The surge can come from pressure building then pushing a bunch through. Could be injectors dirty too. I worked on Jet engines and some on cars so I'm not a boat motor wiz, but pretty good at general trouble shooting.
28:52, wow, I have to compliment you on the way you handling this. I would be sooooooooo pissed and everyone in the boat would know it. Wish I was better about those kind of things.
start with swapping out all fuel filters and plugs. my yamaha 2 stroke had similar issues and it was a build up of carbon on plugs. after swapping out plugs and filters i started running high test fuel and and issue stopped.
Hey mate super obvious one here but you may have overlooked this… are you fuel lines including your filler and breather ethanol rated?? Most unleaded fuels these days are blended and that shit breaks down the inner walls of hoses after a while. Was a major issue there when ethanol blended fuels first came in with tiny bits of hose blocking jets and all sorts of dramas. Maybe something to consider as the more technology these outboards get the more sensitive they seem to be which isn’t real good when you go offshore!
Johnson-Evinrude has been junk for years which is really sad because they invented the outboard engine but they just refused to change with the times, so the only way you're going to fix that engine is to loosen the bolts and give it a kick!
There is a good reason Evinrude/Johnson no longer exist. You must have one of last ones built. Just bite the bullet and get a Yamaha or Suzuki. You won’t regret it.
I'd check your fuel filter and then fuel pump. Or the electrical might be glitching, sensor or computer. Humm low temp sounds false and glitchy. Also vacuum leak, but I don't know your engine at all, so ... There is also an Italian Tune up, which means go balls out for a while to get things running and carbon burned and blown out. Works on cars :))
That not wanting to rev up unless you shut off the motor sounds like your screen on the end of your pickup tube in the gas tank might be plugging up From sediment in the tank
Nice to see the steering fixed and you get so excited about being out again. Start with the basics. Good fuel, fuel filters, properly vented fuel system. And don’t forget the spark plugs on those Etecs are “indexed”. Cant just throw anything in there any which way. Best of luck. Get’er rippin and give us some classic content.
Now that I see the end of the video you don’t want to bring it in anywhere my opinion would be make sure you have all fresh new batteries in good condition take care of all the maintenance replace the thermostat replace all the water separators and water filters being the boat sat for a long period of time you might have water I. The fuel. Fill the tanks with ethanol free or the best octane you can get and run it through see if that helps with the upgrades. If you know someone with a scanner to clear your codes after the repairs see if anything comes up. When you do the batteries make sure there is no corrosion and or loose connections.
Heiko the spike in rpm due to low fuel pressure is because you still have all the oxygen you would for normal operation but you are burning lean thus the fuel burns faster causing surging. Like if you are trying to tune for more power you typically lean out the fuel so it burns faster and more complete for the air charge if you throw off the air/fuel ratio it can cause those things.
Check the fuel pipe out of the than should be a check ball they go bad mine sucked the ball 1/2 way up hose when it happened was doing 45 mph dropped to zero like that would start idle no power
I'm not sure if with boats, but I know some older car engines with computer controlled fuel systems when they get certain fault codes like crank position sensor fault will put the engine in limp home mode. The engine will run fast enough for you to drive slow till you make it home or a garage. After shutting the engine off, the car will not start unless the fault clears.
Sounds like it's getting too much oil and not enough fuel....I'm not a 2 cycle boat mechanic...but I have a father in law that mixed weedeater gas until it was thick....😂😂
When incoming fuel to the engine runs lean than there’s more air than fuel for the combustion. Air is more easily compressed than liquid, so the piston can push against the air in the cylinder faster and easier than against fuel. Hence the RPM increase. If you enrich the fuel in the mixture than the RPM’s lower, since the mixture is more dense. The piston has more “meat” to push against. This equates to lower RPM’s but more torque, since the greater amount of fuel is now being turned into rotational energy through your motor, transferred to the prop. You’re making me nervous, trusting this motor all the way out there. Get the goblins worked out of that thing. Cheers, and happy fishing!!
Heiko…..I know you use to have a Mercury on the boat before you upgraded to the Evinrude……did they change your fuel line and do you use non-ethanol fuel……I had similar issues with the idle speeds of the motor……turned out to be the inner liner of the fuel line from the tank to the motor was deteriorated which clogged the fuel pump and filters……check your filers for a gel looking chunks in it……if there is….replace the fuel lines, filter(s) rebuild the fuel pump……I did this and my boat ran like new again
Look at your fuel pick-up tube. Our Evinrude had the same problem. We had it fixed in a about 10 minutes give or take. If you have a power pack not sure you do. Have the power pack checked. Ours was a combination of the 2.
It appears you may have a fuel issue, change your filters and change your primer ball. Also I am not sure if G2's have the pencil filter in your fuel return line.
Also check your clamps on your fuel system you could be getting air in the system. Try the test again and when it happens again Try squeezing the primer ball ( if it is collapsing during test then you have your issue)
Boat looks Great No let's Go put some fish to sleep and in the kitchen with some new recipe! Awesome SFFC Boat Love my new PICIFUN Spinning Reel! Just got my new line cutter in the mail today! Sounds like it's sucking some air maybe 1 of the recycling tubes is not connected
check fuel quality and fuel filters. take sample in clear glass jar. check for water in fuel. water will seperate from the fuel and sit on the bottom. replace filters first and make sure fuel is fresh.
So this may sound nutty. When you’re going over 2k RPM the fuel pump or delivery system is not having issues supplying fuel due to the higher RPM. But when your going below 2k RPM the fuel pump or delivery system cant keep up due to the low RPM which causes the surge in the RPM. I can’t say what the part is or what exactly is causing that issue but it most definitely sounds like a fuel related problem.
If its fuel injected its probably a vacuum leak somewhere. If its carburated then its probably a pinhole in your fuel line somewhere allowing it to suck a little bit of air.
Heiko, try putting fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank….Might be injectors are a bit clogged from sitting a few months. FYI, i'm a veiwer not a mechanic:) Good luck...
Tip for the trailer wash down. Bring a pump sprayer with a splash of salt away. I hit the trailer with it after I launch so that it’s not soaking in salt for hrs.
Nice Heiko! Engine may have gone into safe mode due to the faults you had. Turning it off and back on without issues reset the computer. I had that on a Yamaha with there was low oil in the main tank. It was two stroke, it acted just like that. Also happened once with a fuel filter issue (under the cowling) Good luck dude!
I had a boat once that I towed with a Dodge Dakota pick up truck and occasionally it would overheat , especially long distance and with the Air conditioner running . I had a transmission cooler installed on my truck , sort of like a radiator for the transmission , and it solved the problem . Same boat had a problem when I got it that when you cut all the way down on the throttle from full throttle and then gun the boat off . It would be impossible to start . Turned out that it was causing a fuel line vacuum when you shut it down like that, and so when you tried to restart it it couldn't get fuel .
Yo Heiko, does your throttle on your top give you the same exact issues as the one on your CC? because if it is exactly the same, then it is not a throttle issue, it has to be a component in the engine or whatever is communicating between them. Anyway, hope this helps. Glad to look into this further with you.
DUDE,just a suggestion, check your upper station Benickle " shift" see if the same crap is happening up there. Might be where your problem is. I'm sure by now you have checked with your buddy the MECHANIC. HOPE ALL WORKS OUT,YOU HAVE WAITED TOOOOOOO LONG BROTHER TOO LONG !!!
Heiko it is a strange thing to diagnose due to the intermediate, turn off and turn back on could be something in the ecu or fuel sensor system, both need a DDT Digital Diagnostic Tester
I thought the Marina took her for a Sea trial and said everything was good. Is the surging normal? I like how your videos tell a story. I have no clue how you keep up with footage like that. Keep it up man, were watching and learning!!
Ugh... Nothing like getting your outboard back and having it throw codes, stall, and run rough. Not so sure I'd trust it. Now, as far as dealsinthed.... If you're coming up here for a new ride, maybe we can get out on some fish here.
Hyco my boat motor and my brother in-law engine does the same thing doesn't want to plain out some time but it always happens after idling in neutral for a while it's like it's gotten warm. Kill it and restart does the same clears right up
First replace battery, these motors and very electronic and require a steady flow of power. Second buy a clear tube of 3/8 fuel line or any major hardware store sells something. Add it after fuel filter and watch it while running if your getting air in the line then bingo you've got an issue in the fuel line or tank. Good luck
I think it's the gas been in the tank awhile I would run that gas out to pretty low and treat it and fill the tank back up to full and run the hell out of it and see what happens check all your ground whires to see if they are clean and carbs might need cleaned put startron in for treatment I was a mechanic for 25yrs get a hold of me and I can tell what to do for free
High-co! On an Evinrude if you ever get a low oil alarm, the computer will still let the engine run, but only to a maximum of 1400 RPM to allow you to get back to the dock. If you think the low oil alarm was tripped because it was tilted to high, then turning off the engine and turning it back on resets the CPU. It’s not a problem with the engine. It’s done by design.
Hey buddy, I appreciate you you help me get through that whole pandemic. Our great governor in Washington state canceled fishing of all things than watching you for quite a few years and also I cut out all the processed food since January 1 and lost 20 pounds and I feel great to keep up the good work buddy. Cheers.
I keep a Hudson sprayer inside of my truck filled with water and Saltaway. After every time I launch my disc brakes and wheels get sprayed. I have torsion axles so no need to spray leaf springs. I would advise you to send this video to the Evinrude shop that just worked on your boat. They will know best. That being said, my Yamaha 300 is 5yrs old and has never had any problems. Not one! I could never own a motor like your Evinrude. I would never trust it knowing that it could act up and fail leaving me stranded at anytime.
You can be my suga momma and support me by buying my fishing tackle & seasonings at: SouthFloridaFishingChannel.com
What happened to your real sugar mama???
Um your pronouns, what are your pronouns? Besides being a sicko!!
You need a friend
What a pain in the butt, some money, and still pain in the butt, good luck on the problem.

3:33, got me chuckling this morning.
That was a Nassau grouper not very common to catch but really cool!
We have a 250 HO. When we have those problems it is usually a bad injector. We have had to replace several.
Don’t forget to replace the carpet on the trailer.
That’s the beauty of the channel
What kind of shape is the fuel line in. Mine looked good but was weak and collapsing on its self when my boat was doing that.
WAHOOOO!!!!

Check your vent line. Mud dobbers made a nest in mine one time and gave me fits trying to figure it out.
Put some carpet on them bunks. Throttle position sensor
I know the feeling and the happiness you are feeling with a better running friend like you have , I love my boat

Good thing you got that free check-up. Looks like they missed some problems. Hope you get it all worked out and stay on the water!
Did you tell them about that issue at the marine place??
You neglected recovering the bunks on the trailer LOL, guess so much for them Sea trialing your boat when it was fixed under warranty 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
check your grounds....make sure the wire under the insulation isn't corroded.
Nice to see the end of The South Florida Hitchhiking Fishing Channel...
Check the fuel pipe out of the than should be a check ball they go bad mine sucked the ball 1/2 way up hose when it happened was doing 45 mph dropped to zero like that would start idle no power
Ya know, while you were doin the trailer rehab, you COULD have replaced the carpet on the bunks. Just sayin.
A lot of people don't know if you put transmission oil on the springs thay will last longer an not rust up 🙋🎣tight lines
I'm not sure if with boats, but I know some older car engines with computer controlled fuel systems when they get certain fault codes like crank position sensor fault will put the engine in limp home mode. What makes you think that the marina your driving to didn't have a fresh water wash down?
Nassau grouper. Good luck with your engine man 2smokes are headaches
Had a similar issue with a Mercury. Clamp that held throttle cable had broken.

Boat looks Great
No let's Go put some fish to sleep and in the kitchen with some new recipe!
Awesome SFFC Boat
Love my new
PICIFUN Spinning Reel!
Just got my new line cutter in the mail today!

check fuel quality and fuel filters. take sample in clear glass jar. check for water in fuel. water will seperate from the fuel and sit on the bottom. replace filters first and make sure fuel is fresh.
Great to see the boat is back!
I see that Giant XTC. Doing a single track video someday?
But it got a full service at the marina and sea trialed? Hate it when that happens
There is never water at park. Not even to clean your fish. I always bring a few gallons of fresh water just to rinse stuff off. Nice wrap!

oxygen sensor on my boat Similar symptoms. But I have a Honda 250. Was fine at high speeds.
If its fuel injected its probably a vacuum leak somewhere. If its carburated then its probably a pinhole in your fuel line somewhere allowing it to suck a little bit of air.
🤔 does the engine have same issue with operating from the tower controls ? Just thinking from all points !
Super glad to see the boat back running. I bought a carbon 2000 reel it should be in tomorrow can’t wait to put it to work
Is Evinrude still in business?
Awesome boat
Seems like a timing issue need to sync and link everything?
Yes when he said that about the dead battery ! Change battery and do a reboot on system ?
Happy to see you got your boat back in the water good luck 👍
I had a boat once that I towed with a Dodge Dakota pick up truck and occasionally it would overheat , especially long distance and with the Air conditioner running . I had a transmission cooler installed on my truck , sort of like a radiator for the transmission , and it solved the problem .

You were just at the marina having your boat worked on why didn't you get two people to take a look at it? Is it just me or?
Talk to Alfred Montaner from the Chit Show about your motor!
Would be cool for them both to do a collab
Good video Heiko ! Your boat looks AWESOME my friend. I never really see it out of the water , THANK you Frank from montana.....
Heiko get ahold of the “born again boating” guy, he seems to really know his shiznitt.
Yo Heiko, does your throttle on your top give you the same exact issues as the one on your CC? because if it is exactly the same, then it is not a throttle issue, it has to be a component in the engine or whatever is communicating between them. I didn't think about that. Good one.
The boat looks so good!!! Awesome video for sure. Get your net!!! Lol
Happy Birthday Brah

Geez man your boat needs to be at the repair shop the engine problem needs to be fixed now!
Those eggs are from Easter eggers . We have those (Wisconsin)
time to upgrade for real, that engine is already giving you the signs, just listen to it.
Nothing beats a celebratory egg!!!
It’s probably the gas. If it sat for a long time with fuel in the tanks the gas might’ve went bad and that can cause those problems
Or the trip there and back stirred up sediment in the tank.
Happy Birthday Heiko
Happy 4-20 Daze😂
That’s basically a new outboard you really gotta get that checked or get a Yamaha!
Already having trouble with the Evinrude? I don't recall you having that many issues with the old outboard you had.
Good luck
Hi from Nashville
Great video as always
That large patch of floating seaweed looked great for hiding mahi mahi.
Are you fly by wire ? maybe in the computer software ... or , what about bad fuel., when did you have her on a computer.
ur videos make me never want to own a evinrude LOL..tight lines brother love the videos
I'll give ya a great deal on mine. CMON!
I'm happy for you, glad to go off shore again!!!😁
Hey buddy, I appreciate you you help me get through that whole pandemic. Our great governor in Washington state canceled fishing of all things than watching you for quite a few years and also I cut out all the processed food since January 1 and lost 20 pounds and I feel great to keep up the good work buddy. Cheers.
My engine was crazy with error codes for over a year, the gage on the dash was sending false signals to the engine. I changed it and all is good.
Does your engine act up when you are operating it from the tower?
Bring a small pump sprayer in the rover with water a little salt away and spray down the trailer parts after you launch and recover. No more worries
The ninja hands are always my favorite!! So pumped bro! Love it
I would change that battery out ASAP...its bad. Probably causing low voltage to the Engine Module and quite possibly your power surges at idle
I do the same thing with my trailer and the portable washdown technique.
Replace hose from tank to engine they can knk when get couple yrs old especially if they didn't put an extra foot or so
