- William Mullally sits down with Zendaya (MJ) and Jacob Batalon (Ned) to talk Spider-Man: Far from Home, shampoo commercials, and how this character changed Ned for the better.
Finally, an interviewer who properly acknowledges Jacob Batalon, and respects both of them enough to let them give full formed and complete answers.

Man, I love Zendaya as MJ, she plays her in such a special and unique way that is refreshing after all the constant nerd falls for the pretty next door neighbor popular type. To see MJ as a more down to earth honest person who gets tripped up by this dorky but sweet boy is just awesome. And Jacob oh man jacob where do I begin. I love Jacob as Ned and Peter's best friend and it's so refreshing to have someone other than Harry Osborne with the crush on MJ knowing Peter is in love with her but messing behind his back. I find this nerdy dynamic and equal friendship to be perfect. I really hope Ned doesn't become Hobgoblin because seeing Peter having to fight Ned would be so crushing to everyone, people would cry in theaters and they would have no idea who to root for because they don't want them to fight. But I think if they did go down that road it would be very powerful and emotional.

I don't think they'll go down that road with Ned, but if so, I already see it playing it out like this: Towards the end of Spider-Man 3, it appears they've killed off Ned, but of course it's just another MCU fake death and he's actually captured by a Norman Osborn. A few movies later he's brainwashed into becoming the Hobgoblin. It'll be Bucky 2.0 lol!

I wouldn't go i to spoilers, but let's just say after this movie I am very curious to see what happens in the next movie. They are probably setting up something for Flash, and I have a feeling the dynamic between Peter, Ned and MJ would be pretty interesting. Keeping Betty as MJ's friend might be a good way to develop MJ's character more.
I hope we get some info about Spiderman 3 in Comic-Con.

They laugh like way more when Tom is with them in interviews, they both talk like they're so bored
I thought I was the only person to think that way. As I understand it, Jacob still tries to disguise it, but Zendaya doesn't even disguise it, just look at her face and we can see how bored she is without Tom and his constant jokes 😁. I think of Tom as that guy who connects the group and makes the moments funnier and that without him everything gets a little boring and tiring.

Curious why he chooses to be bald.
He has alopecia areata. Which means he has several bald spots on his head. So instead of having hair with different blotches on his head he just shaves it. Onset is usually in childhood. Males and females have the condition in equal numbers.

I actually appreciate the fact that MJ is kind of awkward and quirky, but at the same time witty, smart, and kind of guarded. I think it's refreshing because most girls like myself can totally relate to feeling nervous and shy around a guy you like. And it's also refreshing to see Peter fall for a "regular" girl for a change (even though I think Zendaya is gorgeous), instead of the nerd typically going for the "hot", popular, ditzy, blonde cheerleader type who wears skimpy clothes and doesn't have much going on upstairs... like soooo many movies. This new MJ is REFRESHING, and Z is great as MJ, especially since she is so totally different from MJ irl!
