  • I’m at a point with my collection where I need to let some older figures AND figures I don’t ‘ love ‘ go.
I’ll explain why I’m choosing the figures I do in this video!

I see a little bit of you in me when I started collecting (properly over 10 years ago). Shared taste in a lot of things. Movies, marvel, dc, star wars and horror. That's a massive rabbit hole. I would consider looking at your space and deciding what your favourite line/ type is. Then your next and so on. Think of this list with the space you have and how it can work. There will be a time your addiction could get over the top (effect home life, making as memories as you should etc). So only collecting say 2 lines (horror and star wars) is easier to manage. Plus your colleciton flowing. At the end of the day, you keep your favourite movie, character and have most of your collection as that, you will be happy.
I made the mistake of too many lines, too many scales, collected for years, moving house and not knowing my final space. So I over spent, and got far too much. In the forever home now, know my space and I had to sell a lot off (still doing it now). It was the list of writing my favourite things down which helped. Once those other bits go, I felt so more happy. Plus.... Quality over quantity always. X2 nice statues, 4 inart (top tier), X6 top quality hot toys, will always look far far better than 200 plus hot toys jammed together. Less is more, show each one off. Correcting lighting, diorama, accessories.
But as long as you're happy, that's all that matters. Never do it to impress others.

I absolutely agree with all of this.
Ideally it would be fantastic to settle down to 2 lines. Maybe that’s in my future! I will have to see. As of now.. it was kind of fun picking the ‘ first batch ‘ of figures to go :)
Congrats on having your forever home AND streamlining the collection!
I hope to be there one day!

I have pre-made a list of "Wishlist" characters that I want for my collection. That way I won't fall into FOMO of new amazing figures and characters that I have no emotional attachment to. It's not always that easy though, I have pre-ordered figures that weren't on my list before 🤣. Some mentions from my list of somewhat more niche figures I hope get made by good companies are: Rocky from Rocky 4, Caesar from Planet of the Apes, Neo from Matrix 1, Vincent from Collateral and a Rick O'Connell from The Mummy 1.

This is exactly what I did as well. I have a vision for my collection. I only want a few select figures and don't care about any others at all. I do sometimes struggle a bit; most recently with DP3 Wolverine, but all I had to do is check if the fig is on my list, if it's not I just move on.

FOMO struggle is real. Then once I get the new figures I'm either getting buyers remorse with paying premium or just not getting that connection I was expecting with figures that I truly love

You're good at letting things go. It's cool because you are always keeping that collection fresh. I have had to stay away from larger-scale figures because I am NOT good at letting things go.

@@davido.p.9850 I appreciate that! We will see how the selling process goes and then how I feel after. ;)
Butttt.. I have pulled these figures from the collection and have stared and thought about it these past few days and I feel good with these ones leaving!
I have about 25 figures to open up and some of those may go as well.. lots of PO’s coming in!
