    As a guy that no longer rides harleys, i highly recommend that you purchase the extended warranty.

      That's pretty much any bike now though. Kind of sad really, I don't know if it's just too much tech, not enough quality control, or a combination of both. It seems every company is suffering now. Kind of sad really. I hope you're still out there on 2 wheels and thank you for watching!

      Yep, I think once you extend the warranty, a little of the same feeling you had when you bought the bike returns.

    I don't buy extended warrantees on anything. I put the max (5 years) on my '22 from HD. Even without the "history", the amount of tech on this thing that can go sideways on this (or any other new technology laden vehicle) is just super scary. Definitely not the simplicity of an old school evo.

    • @Chase_N
      @Chase_N  Місяць тому +1

      Same here, I never used to buy extended warranties either. Not on my Evo Sportsters (I miss them occasionally) or my Twin Cam Dyna. Not even on my Aprilia or Kawi. My Road King was 1 year extended but that was with a then new M8 which had occasional "sumping issues".
      You're right, a new bike, with lots of tech and a ton more power than H-D's are known for was likely to have teething issues. But it's not just H-D, BMW, Ducati, KTM, even Honda have had issues so at this point in time it's just a prudent move to buy extended warranties on bikes these days. It doesn't make any of these bikes or companies "bad", it's just that more complicated systems can often lead to less reliability.
      Thank you for watching!

      Considering @rmspeedy1775 's comment below having the experience of needing the entire charging system replaced and it running $3K plus labor, it seems like a nice bit of extra insurance. He was happy to have the ESP/extended warranty. Around here, the ESP runs $3K for 5 years, so it would've paid for itself in one shot.
      You have some time to think, and they do have a monthly payment option if you want to go that route. Thank you for watching!

    I have a 2022 and had the whole charging system replaced. If I didn't have the ESP I would have been out $3000 plus labor.

      @Chase_N  Місяць тому +3

      Oof, $3K is how much the 5 year ESP/extended warranty runs around here! Yours is a perfect example about how an extended warranty these days is another form of insurance. Thank you for watching and for the comment, it really puts the price of the ESP/extended warranty in perspective for a lot of people!

      @@Doubletap6996 This is what I imagine is happening to a lot of people. The cost to repair anything now has risen quite a bit and everyone is weighing if the ESP/extended warranty is worth it.
      Hearing from people who've had it pay for itself in one go could light a fire under some folks to get it done. I mostly read about things on forums but some people don't frequent them, so youtube is the next best place. Thank you for the comment, for watching, and subscribing!

    I put off looking into it. I really need to check, when I bought my 22, I'm pretty sure it HD was giving a 3 year warranty. I've had no major issues , just would like a little piece of mind.

    • @Chase_N
      @Chase_N  Місяць тому +1

      I think the 3 year warranty was in Europe only, though I could be misinformed about that. At this point after being on the forums and seeing some of the comments here, I'm glad I did it.
      I've had no trouble but a complete electrical system cook down would've ran 2 different commenters here $3K plus labor, H-D's 5 year ESP runs $3K around here so it would pay for itself and then some on just that failure alone. The fuel pump replacement is $400-600 too. It's not just H-D really, I've said before that I'd do the same on any expensive bike at this point no matter the manufacturer.
      If you wouldn't mind letting me know, I'm interested in what H-D ESP/extended warranties are running where you live? By the way, it was nice seeing the Tunnel To Towers poker run and thank you for watching!

    If it gives you peace of mind and it's priced right then I'd say go for it. When it comes to anything mechanical now-a-days there are no cheap repairs from what I've found. My 2024 Pan America has a lifetime warranty through the dealership, if not, I probably would have purchased something.

    Don't go through HD. You can contact the company they use directly and save a lot of money. Quoted at HD for 3 year ESP $3600. Called the company directly. Knew they were the same because they had the info on the previous one. 5 year ESP $4200.

    • @Chase_N
      @Chase_N  Місяць тому

      $4200 is much higher than I was quoted, $3000 for a 5 year ESP plus tax came out to $3300 total at the 2 closest dealers. I wonder if it's a difference in where we live? I'm in podunk Ohio near the WV border (WV is where one H-D dealer resides) and the other is in a rural area in about 50 miles South of Akron, Ohio.

      I'm still going on my original fuel pump at 10K but I constantly listen for an issue. It seems everyone thinks it's prudent with just about every bike made today which is tech laden, to just get the extended warranty. Like I said in the video, engines and electronics aren't cheap and one bad day can run $10K+ in parts and repairs.
      I wonder how much the fuel pump and the labor would cost without the ESP? $400-$500? More? Also, how long are the new pumps lasting? It sounds like you had the same idea I had and just the extended warranty for 5 years. It's fairly cheap insurance all things considered. Thank you for watching!

      My 22 PAS fuel pump got very noisy at around 16k miles was replaced under warranty.
      Didnt fail but was obviously on its way out.
      Most definitely get the full 5year ESP from HD.
      If you are keeping your bike for that long for sure.
      I just traded my 22 for a 2024 PAS Alpine Green.
      Why,because of the upgrades and the color.
      My 22 had 24k plus miles on it.
      The only thing that went was the fuel pump.
      Other than that it was totally trouble free.

      @@Chase_N My pump went out at 12500 miles, well it was making alot of noise it never missed a beat as far as running bad but this happened while i was in north Caralina riding around Pisgah national forest . Asheville Harley put the pump in while i waited on it which was 5 hrs but i didn't have a choice and they did me a big favor, i think. Cost was $600 which warranty covered. While i was waiting their was a few guys their and one said his went at 6500miles and the other at 12000miles . the mechanic only had to listen to bike and new it was the pump. When you turn bike on you hear the pump humming well if pump is going out instead of a low humming sound it is really loud you will know if your pump is going out believe me.
