The World's Best Captain. And the most influential. Why? Every cricketer now owes their bank balance to what he fought for. Tell me now someone more important in cricket?
And yet Brearley was the better captain. That comment is more a reflection on Chappell. Remember, he doesn't rate Botham either. I respect Chappell's opinions, except on a few individuals where he is unable to remain neutral.
@@renatocarini497 yes, botham, Steve waugh, bradman, to some extent tendulkar are all not in Chappell's good books. In general he prefers the flamboyant types not the hardworking types. Except for botham but that's because of the bar fight they had.
Mike Didn't mention Ian's excellent slips catching. He rarely missed any,as did brother Greg who caught every thing. No Wonder Packer wanted him for his World Series Cricket,Just the Captain he needed for such a mixture of players and egos.🏏🇦🇺
@@prashanthrao3571 Hi I think Beefy Got on well with Alan Border and Merv Hughes. Chappell was his own man as Lillee,Marsh And Thommo. Border played under Greg and knew how tough AB was and Beefy, especially The Late Bob Willis's Destrution of the Aussies at Headingley in 81.🇦🇺🏏he knew how tough AB was.
Brearley - such an intelligent, well spoken man. Great captain, great manager of people. (I'd suggest one of those guys that Chappell didn't rate was Yallop, who came up against Brearley in the 1978/79 Ashes series with a second string Australian team.)
If England had put Brealey in charge of English Cricket when he retired from playing then the 80s and 90s would have be a lot better for England than the disaster it turned out to be.
A great captain with bat not like bearly. Given tit for tat reply to West Indies fast bowlers. Aus were on top in his period. Never bowed against speed star.

Admirable from Brearley to appreciate Ian Chappell coz Ian Chappell himself doesn't rate Mike Brearley much

Chappell doesn't rate anyone...he finds joy by bagging other players..

Chappelli is the greatest test cricket captain ever.

Brearley is my #1 in my list of best captains

That’s very true
