I am using a 2mm cord and therefore a 4mm hook. I made a chain of 20 stitches but the chain looks small. Do I need to make the chain longer?

yes you can do that if the cord is smaller than in the video, you can always adjust the counts depending on how big you want your bag to be.🙂 thank you for watching
