- Here is the Listening component from the latest official JLPT N4 sample exam.
Use this to practice for the Listening part of the test. Each section contains one example question followed by the actual test questions.
Try to follow along and answer the questions without pausing the video to create or simulate real exam timing conditions. Then measure how you went against the answers at the end of the video.

passed the JLPT N5 last December thanks to all the materials I found and used in youtube, planning to take the N4 this July. I got 3 incorrect answer in this practice but I'm feeling confident for this upcoming exam. For everyone planning to take the exam this year 2023 Good Luck!

For everyone saying it's too easy for N4, just put the playback speed up a little, it gives more of a challenge that way and simulates native speed

Feels rather easy for N4. Just started with Chapter 28 of Minna No Nihongo there and was planning to take N4 next year and this sample exam is really pushing my hopes up haha :D

After finishing n4 lessons at all,I listened to this.But I couldn't understand well-just one or two words.So I study the lessons again and again.Today, I listen again.Finally, I did it!

I learned Japanese for about three years in college about three years ago. I was planning a trip to Japan and was wondering if I still remembered some Japanese. Feels great that I can actually understand everything although most vocabs are from the first year lol
I’ve been practicing listening for a couple months now via terrace house and podcasts on Spotify and am actually shocked and how easily I understand this video now. Even at 1.25x speed 😳 I used to struggle so hard with this and now I’m just breezing through

I took the N4 in July `19 and this is not an accurate representation of the listening difficulty. I think this falls inbetween N5 and N4, if you are going for N4 you should get the majority of these correct on you first go without pausing or rewinding.

Shit I felt much easier on this one and I thought my Japanese had improved but everyone here is saying this one is more like n5 ..... now I feel so depressed again .. ^^ I have n3 exam on December this year. Good luck to myself.

I just gave this test, my 25 was correct out of 28, still need to do better bcoz this was so easy
are you sure this is N4? it's a lot easier than i thought. looked like N5, I got 26/28. only got 23/28 in an N5 practise I did in another vid

This speed was normal. I took N4 this year 6th month exam and listening task was like running away from tiger. They speak so fast

OMG the exam will be on 3rd December...and this is the first video I'm listening to test myself ...it was so easy I had only 7 wrong answers...I will fix it till then tho
This test is from 2012 (I have the hard copy version). I think the difficulty level has increased since then.

I got 2 mistake out of 8 on the first part, 1 mistake out of 7 in the next, 1 mistake out of 5 on the third and perfected for some unknown reason the last part. I hope when I take the exam this Dec 2019 exam I can pass the test.

i'm a weeb,,,
i mean a pro level weeb,,
i never took an official japanese language course before. but i can do at this level. i see more than 15.000 episodes of anime and i remember more than 500 anisong. as long as i'm not read japanese i think i'm okay,,
Hmm, I got 20/28 correct, but I was using subtitles (which weren't always right, but still it's kind of cheating). To me, it still sounds like they are talking fast. I can't conjugate in my head fast enough lol. But if I could score that well on the actual test in less than 2 weeks, I think I can actually pass the N4.
But I think the sound like slowly

I highly recommend Nihongo con Teppei podcast. I listen to it using Spotify but you can use other apps as well.
Whenever I'm waiting in a long line, commuting or walking to home, I just play this and try to repeat what he's saying to improve my pronunciation and intonation (shadowing method).

You can also watch Japanese movies, anime, and dramas. It's a fun way to practice your listening skills.
