I had fifty employees two years ago and worked sixteen hour days and was miserable I fired everyone, moved to Bali, and now have two people on Fiver. Work six hours a day in a niche market, refuse to take meetings unless they are mission critical, and spend the rest of my time with friends and my girlfriend or yoga or freediving. I would never go back.

"People need to be reminded more than they need something new". I HAD to hear this. I've recently been learning that I don't have to come up massively brilliant ideas for every single videos or piece of content I make. Sometimes a reminder is enough to motivate and keep inspiring your audience. Much love.

Im a business owner and i have a lot of friends that are business owners, and this guy is right. The ones who are winning are the ones who are doing shit online, no employees, something new, service based/subscription based, etc. You don’t need partners, employees, physical locations with landlords down your throat, etc. It’s a new wave, times are changing fast.

Crazy that you can talk for 25 minutes based on (almost just) a 1 line quote and actually still not say anything irrelevant, still keep flow throughout the whole 'story' and get such an impactful message across. One among many other masterpieces you've put out there. Well done, and thanks for the content, Dan! :)

I absolutely love the fact that while you're going through your main thought flow, you don't hide those little iterations and side-thoughts which are also a necessary part of the way of your message. Same with any routes out there: the main road will bring us to the ultimate destination but it also has its cross streets and lateral streets without which the map is not complete.
You're doing a great job, Dan. Keep it up.

As somebody who tends to get too caught up in the big ideas, learning how to ground things in small and remind myself that 1. I'm not a billion dollar business, and 2. I'm allowed to fail before I find success, have been huge. Working with my Studio has been such a deep process of discovery and figuring out what exactly I'm trying to create for the world, and even finding what exactly the "problem" is that I'm trying to fix. Sometimes you have to look at the guy with a crappy webcam that gets millions of views cause what he's saying resonates. People care more about how they relate to our product rather than how much money we've put into it... and boy did I have to learn that the hard way. Thanks for sharing, Dan! :)

100% me: Finding what you're trying to solve with your business.

    • @studioraphael
      @studioraphael 2 роки тому +2

@@yoricman I think the cool thing though about being a business owner/developing a personal brand is that where you are in business is often directly correlated to where you are in life and how well you know yourself. If you know your product and are confident in yourself, likely, you’re doing well in selling your product. If you’re weak-minded, lack certainty, and don’t believe in yourself… then you should check out Studio Raphael 😉. Hehe. Jokes aside, business began by trading with others by offering skills that others lack but could use for something. So… find what you’re good at, become the best at it, and sell. If you fail, see it not as a reflection of yourself, but rather as where you’re currently at. Then learn and grow. Rinse and repeat. ☺️🙏🏼.

You distilled entrepreneurship to its barest essence and I haven't come across anyone with this particular perspective. Sometimes it can be overwhelming, having to deal with the entire scope of running your business. And in those moments it does help to stop overthinking it and just return to the essence: we're all just a clump of meat on a journey of discovery. And whenever you discover something useful, you simply share it with other people who are looking into the same things. And sometimes that can lead to a job or business transaction.

Brilliant piece by Dan, here are my takeaways:
1.Start with 1-2 skills that are meaningful and educate people about them
2.Start building content to gain credibility rather than just DMs and cold emailing people, when audience sees your content, they start to grow and come to you for projects. Content is mostly your own take on the things people are already consuming
3.Then productize to reach higher number of people and freeing up your time
4.Entrepreneurial Mindset - a. Build a personal brand, your goals b. build content that is engaging, inspiring, entertaining and builds audiences and followers, c. Monetize through your product or service. The method is to a. find a problem, b. learn how to solve it, c. document how to solve it, d. systematize your process, e. share your discoveries
5.Profit off from your own personal development and skill acquisition
6.Self-educate yourself on your own problems - then deep dive on how it is solved and share it with everyone. Eg: Health problems and hitting the gym
7.Fix money problems - post free content online, build authority and then land up a freelancing assignment,
8.Everyone is a monopoly on the internet and you can create your own niche, keep experimenting until you see what works for you
9.Raise your own consciousness first and then raise collective consciousness by sharing. You accelerate the journey of others by teaching them

I wasn't sure initially if you could motivate me because I am so so introspective and while part of my income comes from working for myself I've never known how to either motivate myself to expand or get over the fear of failure and these hold me back. I think you might be getting through.

Im probably one of the few ppl in the world doing what i know how to do WELL. But i have NOBODY to help, or capture as a client. Thats what hurts, starting from ground zero. And my goals has always to start on my own. As a chemistry undergrad , i always wanted to have my own business. I give myself credit for having understood this and starting. After seeing a lot of the same coaching content in this space and seeing the underwhelming output, I'm looking at this from a different angle.
A couple things you need to make a business include:
Surplus of time to work on the business (dedicate focused time to it without having a phone, UA-cam, social media) every day. Hard to pull off with a full time job but I'm building this habit and having good results so far.
Build something that actually plays to your strengths. You could get pulled in 10000 directions trying to make a supplement business or selling oils, plastic tinker toys, etc. But they won't be authentic reflections of your personal experiences and skills. Gotta dig deep and see how you specifically have a different experience that will help you solve a problem in a unique way, and you have the skills to do it well.

I haven’t watched the video yet, but I can certainly say that making it was worth it by sheer comment section. This is the type of information/message is exactly what I need in my current situation.

Thanks for this video man. Currently I am a college student, but I’m trying to grow a mindset coaching business on the side. I have been overthinking a lot and consuming content instead of just taking action and learning along the way. Your video gives some good insights. I agree, if you are going to do something for the rest of your life, you might as well just get started - it doesn’t matter how long it will take.

Same with me: consuming a lot of contents, and not taking enough actions.
I wish everyone can find the will to take persistent action, this might be key.

A few years ago I heard this... that "growth only begins at the end of your comfort zone". And I live by that now. I challenge myself and I am ready to help others from my knowledge. 🌈🌺🍃

First time seeing your work, Dan - I watched the whole video and you got a subscriber. Solid, keeping it real, so real and authentic. I appreciate that man, thank you.
You really clarified the actual process and logic for building value-content-audience-product-business. You've got a unique handle on this, or at least a uniquely clear way of articulating it. As an "aspiring entrepreneur" for 19 years already, since dropping out of college in my early twenties and failing hard, I see the wisdom and truth in what you're laying out.
Several bits stood out for me:
    >>> It is only logical to be sharing valuable free content BEFORE soliciting paid work.
This affirms my recent re-commitment to start putting out lots of content, after years of collecting my learning and value in private. Your video comes at a perfect time.
    >>> "Your brand is your vision for the future"
This is a POWERFUL definition/framing I have not heard before, and I love it! Especially as someone who is strongly a visionary, and who has often though I'm not good at selling myself/branding myself. This clarifies and simplifies it for me, and more importantly, redeems branding as something authentic.
    >>> Raise the collective consciousness by giving out pieces of your map. Then, my products themselves are the map, as complete as possible.
Great way to tie purpose into practicality; raising the collective consciousness must be a fundamental human drive for all those, like you and I, who are on a path of conscious growth. And the nuance of sharing "pieces of the map" for free, and the product providing the value of being the as-complete-as-possible map, that is gold.
As you identify, people pay for
    1. Aggregation
    2. Speed
    3. Convenience
I'm sure you weren't trying to make an all-time comprehensive list there. Those are good points. A few more which occurred to me:
    4. Curation
    5. Advice/recommendations
    6. Beauty/pleasure/joy & reduction of pain
Again, great video, great insights, well worth the time.

I had a really good nap with this and got up at the last two. I know this sounds like a joke but I knew trying to listen to you was a good idea. I really liked the way you talked about the meaning of life and why you don't have to worry about "selling things that already exist". Everything already exists, that's not the point. Maybe I'll come back to this next time, but that's what I needed to hear that. Thanks!

Thanks, your video came out of now where on my feed and it was refreshing. I started my channel a year ago, it’s so random and I’m amazed people tune into it. Thank you, your advice is sound. We think “ oh, someone already made a video on it” but who cares. The time is going to pass regardless so me might as well all have content

Loved this video. As soon as you articulated how I can help other people a step or two behind me, it all clicked for me. Immediately went and recorded a video on my journey of how I got to where I am now. Thank you so much Dan Koe. And then loved the bit at the end about exploring our own unconsciousness to make it conscious. I read a lot of Jung and it's helped my life immensely. Subbed and liked the video

Being overly critical of you here mate, you clearly are a pro and deliver value loaded information - here is my take as a professional consumer lol.
I think your limiting factor is tonality, and expressiveness. If you bumped those things up a notch, your mass appeal would reach the next level.
    Love the content!

This is great content but you need to keep it compact and concise in under 10 minutes
So it's basically that you start a freelance business with high paying niche then you marketing your service in various ways or forms of content

I think a One-Person Business becomes oversaturated in the long run, more people, limited possibilities, particularly in small businesses, in large corporate style businesses, they can be one-person as the future makes it easier to, refering to Navals quote and that begins to reward society rather than you if you want to win over a millennia. One-person is basically a personal brand, what can you do, what are you good at, how are you unique, at the shallow end you need a audience to influence, hence the influencer term.
Nonetheless interesting video, reminded me how much we shuffle through experiences and information from others to get our own.
