The Dual Motor Polestar is beating a lot of single motor competitors? I did not expect that! It looks like the Single Motor version should absolutely monster them then, but that will be a very interesting test to see. Either way, the Polestar 2 is a current frontrunner for my next car and this test only strengthens that feeling.

I just drove with my Polestar 2 from Germany through Denmark and Sweden and arrived today in Finnland. I so much enjoy driving it. Charging was actually so fast, that we had to hurry up eating.
Very credible run with P2. Glad that’s a bit different to most other EVs, and it proves it should be on most buyers’ shortlists! Nice car.
As someone who has ordered the single motor long range as a company car, I am excited and also nervous to see tomorrow's video! But even if it doesn't perform with the best, it's still one of the best looking and most exciting cars! I can't wait for mine to arrive... Cheers for the vids, they are great.

I drove 350 km from Sandefjord to Eidfjord with my Polestar an the consumption was only 15,6 kWh/100 km. The temperature was high and average speed was guite low, that's right, but the car had to climb up to 1100 meters above sea level a few times instead. I'm more than satisfied with this car.
Good result. Look at the temperature of the testing day on the cars on the top of the sheet. Q4 is ahead of Enyaq and ID.4 only because of warmer testing day.

My average consumption with my Polestar 2 over the last 4 months is 17.8 kWh/100km, in a roughly equal mix of city, cross country and highway driving.
One main reason for the low consumption: I turn off A/C whenever possible. I think that the Polestar‘s A/C could easily be optimized for lower consumption without impacting the comfort.
Try eco mode for air con. It's not good for the air con to not use it
@@SS-yw7vo Eco mode was added later, with one of the OTA updates, after I suggested such a feature to Polestar. The new controls are really great and allow to turn off heating and keeping cooling on.

this run is also the cleanest run I have seeing base on the first half no charging only 3h and 3min ... the Mach E run first half was 3h 7m ... and you had an extra 5min of charging with the Mach E .. so overall I am very impressed with this very clean run ..removing the charging time net you the ICE time under similar conditions 👍

This Kempower can deliver max 300A and with theoretical max voltage 500V it would make 150kw. Maybe next time press battery icon in charger screen to see voltage and current?

2nd: this is simply my "dream" car. It is quite affordable, it is a Volvo and it has a quite good range with good lading.
And it is smooth. Silky. Nice!

Really like the idea of this test, it proves that driving an EV with a decent range on such a route will take approx 15 mins longer than an ICE car, considering you’ll have to stop at least once to take a break. I was wondering, if in Norway every single gas station among such main road is already equipped with a charging station? Or maybe there are even some chargers and no gas :))? Btw. Looks like google maps time is a bit pessimistic, do you drive exactly at speed limit where possible (speedometer or GPS speed)?

@Kris Rifa I think you should do a similar test, a warm summer night, with the e-tron 55 quattro. I think it will be right up there in top 3 with one charging stop at IONITY Lillesand.

Same charge time and % consumption as the Enyaq, so it all comes down to the traffic.

Why are these results so much different from other tests? These results are highly favorable for the Polestar, other tests not so much.
seems quite. my model 3 is not so quite.. So noisy in higher speeds.
A lot more quiet than M3 😊
How does the Volvo XC 40 compare?
Hi Kris. I have test drive the Polestar 2 for 2 weeks ago. I am in love with that car. There is 2 thinks i dont like. 1. there is no heating pump, but it comes in the 2022 models. 2. The flor is a bit downwords, so hade a hardt time to find a place to my right foot (when i drive in auto cruise on the highway/motorway) Have you the same problem with your right foot?
I'm not Kris, but I can relate to the footwell of the Polestar 2 being a bit awkward. The XC40 Recharged has a less extreme slope, though it's still noticeable there too. In fact, knowing they were built on the same platform I returned to have another test-drive of the Polestar 2 to confirm.
While I don't recall how I sorted my feet out, it is less uncomfortable than I thought it was originally. But it is a weird experience compared to other EVs I've tried.
When driving in auto cruise, I like to rest my right foot to the left of the brake (there is a lot of space there).
heat pump is an optional extra in Sweden in the "Plus" package (not "Pilot")
@@_TrueDesire_ Not in Denmark. The Heating Pump comes as "plus" equipment on the next year models (2022) of Polestar 2 and there is no heating pump on those there get delivered in 2021 models.
@@outkene I'd not prioritize heat pump in Denmark though. Shorter runs and it never get really cold.

Is this the 2022 model year with the latest 2127 update? I read on the changelog that the latest software includes "Electric motor optimization." Would be very interesting to know if this improves range.
I had the same question! I found that after receiving the P2127 update, I noticed a pretty significant efficiency improvement, at least 1-2 kwh/100km better.
@Roger Jin That would bring us down into "efficient EV" territory at 17-18kwh/100km. Very impressive considering the flack the car was getting when first launched.
@@mariusschrecker4427 In my driving (highway with elevation changes @ approx 118 km/h, I went from a pretty consistent 21.5-22 kwh/100kms to now always being just under 20 kwh/100km. 🙂
In the first interior shot you see that a software update is available (Cloud symbol upper right), so it's definitely not P2127 in the car.

Actually, even when displaying a warning it's inconvenient to stop the video - turn off the Google Home - continue video AND then remember to turn on the Google again.
But that’s why I put a warning with a countdown 😂🙈

Why front wheel drive?
Isn't it better in winter to have rear wheel drive with BEVs?
This car uses Volvo's CMA platform which is FWD based. Weight distribution is most important thing with 2WD car and winter. I hope Polestar gets this right.
Does it get more cargo capacity in the trunk?
Nice review, i appreciate the thoroughness, though you could have spent more time on the results discussion and less talking about the drive... I own a Model 3LR AWD and test drove the Polestar 2 FWD, with the idea to switch over. I decided not to: cargo room was really disappointing in this (we have two kids two adults and two pets) compared to the Model 3, let alone the Model Y; the battery and range seem okay but not great which we could work with but not at this top price range; Chinese manufacture is disturbing though i wanted to give it a fair chance and the car is obviously well made. I appreciate that Volvo had to survive but taking financing from slavers and political regimes...i know that may be considered off topic by some but not by everyone.
So you prefer to pay money for the world policeman's manufacturer? Think about that.
I will stop here because it is not a political channel but great automotive one.
