I love scratch building,. In this type of modeling there are no restrictions. To build and create something out of nothing is the highest level one can achieve. adding this style to your models also turns them into one off works of art masterpieces.
Amazing as always. It takes a great eye to place details that look like they're there for a reason and a functional part of the model, not just details for the sake of details. Love it.
When I was a kid I even put together a formula-1 car only with empty bottles of Yakult kkkkk but that is another level, today I am doing a city bus project where the tires I am using these same bottles. Your project is magnificent.
at first i was partial on the use of the laser cut parts. im more into the use of only scrap and rubbish parts. but the end result was amazing. great work
I would sand the bottle with a quite rough sanding paper before glueing anything to it. Should be PE or PP plastic...nothing you can glue very well. The engine looks hot though! Inspired by TWA?
The plastic is so thin, I was really afraid of trying to remove any material from it! Even thought of adding something to the inside, like a resin... But I see your point! Thanks buddy :)
@@CutTransformGlue Ruffing it up a bit will help alot though. Adding epoxy will not work well. Generates heat and I think even a lil bit of heat will make it warp.
While most food bottles are made from one of the waxy plastics, Yakult bottles are actually polystyrene, which is why they're so popular in modeling circles. Can be glued/welded with any plastic cement.
@@LaserGadgets it's definitely polystyrene. Have you ever used one before? I have several sitting here, has PS on the recycling symbol and melts in acetone. Also means it's easy to paint.
So good! It totally looks like a detailed replica of some real design! Judging by the thumbnail I thought this was going to be some obsessively detailed reference-heavy project! This way I love it waaaay more! Really inspiring! Glad I found your channel! You need to get some AK Interactive Weathering "kits"... I come from painting miniatures with acrylics, and recently re-discovered the wonders of enamels, (and oil-paint) plus twenty years of development on the stuff, since I first started using HUMBROL... All those years ago...
Looks great. I'm working on my first scratch build. I'm building a little landing craft out of a plastic egg thing your supposed be able to boil eggs with. So far it's on the wright track
The pipework you achieved with epoxy putty was inspirational! Finding tubing is easy in all sorts of sizes, but making the curved corners is less successful, the 'bendy' drinking straw is not clean enough and bending tubing is never 100% effective. Thanks for a workable solution - i shall have to try it. And a great project with the 'famous' yakult bottle - it is such an engine shape, but you've disguised it brilliantly. Nice work.
Trick for nicely bending any bendable tube: fill it with sand before bending. This way the tube won't give up in the curves. Some materials (e.g. plastic) may need some heating; metals won't. Wood tubes would require wetting or vapor treatment, and heating.
Just discovered kitbashing and scratchbuilding just now, and got overwhelmed by your works, especially the details like wires and pipes. I’m curious that do you have to figure out all the functions, purposes and reasons why the tubes and wires are connected that way when you’re looking at the references or you just mostly focusing on trying to replicate the greeblie look? I’m an art student and wanting to create realistic mechs, but these details kinda pulls me back and I don’t know where to start the research, school teachers don’t offer practical suggestions is sad. :(
Thank you so much! I'm constantly thinking about the functionality of the pieces I create so.. Not that I can distinguish the function of each wire and pipe, but I try to make it like they serve a purpose on the overall design!
Huh, just discovered your channel. Instant sub, love trash-bashing! I have a good amount of "components" stashed in the garage, away from wifes eyes and kids grasp...
Excellent work, certianly BTFOs my own miniature generators vid. Very nicely editted & I love the attention to detail as well as the going the extra mile in terms of precision. Amazing job, dude
Pretty sure I'm not the only who has mentioned this, but jet turbine engines usually require a lot of air through an intake. Other than this, i would say you made the moc engine look detailed and quite realistic. Cheers.
I realize this is an older video, it is great work though! Thank you for sharing. Can I ask where you got the random MDF circles and shapes? I imagine this would be tremendously helpful, but those laser cutters are expensive…
Just discovered this channel, WOW! amazing job you do! i loved all you models. I make models from scracth also, and I know the work they take. You are spanish or Latin American, I was surprised to see the bottle with letters in Spanish. I am Spanish.
When I saw this… I had to sub!! Simply Amazing. Going to have to check out more to get my sci fi mojo going! And I think getting a laser cutter just moved up on todo list.

I just found your channel, and of course subbed. I just thought I’d let you know of a great source for some cool parts for detailing models. Try to find a bunch of vacuum tubes from old TVs and radios. Carefully brake the glass and you’ll find lots of interesting little metal pieces. Just check the part numbers first because some tubes are valuable. Most aren’t, but some are. Keep up the great work.

First, thank you for this awesome content! Really inspired to make something like this myself. Question: how much time does it take to put together something like this for you?
Just curious. Do you use a 3D printer to help you design some of your parts? I'm just a beginner in the world of diecast customization and I'm noticing some of the artists are using 3D printers to create parts. Thanks for sharing and once again, that is a cool Ford GT. Good job.
Thank you!! You mean the one with golden thing on the tip? These are wifi wires from old laptops, the ones that come out of the mobo and go around the screen :)
Fun fact, since you didn't touch the inside of the bottle, you can still use It.
That's true! Maybe I'll start making custom water bottles to kill time in this shelter in place!
What..😂
Jet engine Shot glass! Bugger the yakult lol
Just slurp out that star wars juice
It would make a sweet stash spot if it was incorporated into a larger project.

Adding the wires was a nice touch to give the appearance of hydraulic fluid and engine lubricant lines. Well done!

Very awesome we have the video of this iconic scratchbuilt model I’ve been seeing kicking around the Internet for a long time!
Thanks a lot buddy!

This is excellent work, and a solid demonstration of process. Well done!
Thank you so much!
Amazing build. Would totally use a similar build for my Warhammer 40K terrains. Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot!!
Great work! Would love to have seen a weathered wash on this, maybe some grease and oil look.
I'll make a second one someday so that I can paint and weather it! Thank you
