Hey Guys, i have a suggestion for something similar, you need to try the artisanal beer of Romania. Like: Hop Hooligans, ANAGRAM, Fabrica Grivita, Ground Zero and Zaganu, if u have time. Great content btw, keep the good work!
I think the best standard beer brands (not craft-beer) in Romania are Hațegana and Harghita, but they are hard to get, very few shops have them. Skol, Neumarkt, Bergenbier, Golden Bräu are for the village alcoholics that can't afford better, because they already spent their house and grandfather's field on booze. Azuga unfortunately is not the original anymore, which came from the mountain village Azuga near Sinaia. The old brewery was torn down and now the brand is made somewhere else, not with the prestine mountain water anymore. Ciuc belongs to Heineken and that's how it tastes - not bad but also not special. After this privatization some local brewers founded Csíki Sör (which just means "Ciuc beer" in Hungarian), to hold up the tradition. This one has become quite popular. One fun fact: Timișoareana is the oldest brewery in today's Romania and was founded by the Austrian general Prince Eugen of Savoy, who fought against the Turks and liberated the city of Timișoara. He said he can't command an army, if his soldiers don't get their beer. So he founded a brewery.
just so you know, all this companies ursus, timisoreana, ciucas, bergenbier etc are actually bought off by heineken and are part of Asahi Breweries they got a monopol in europe. not sure if they did change the recipes, but when i was drinking beer i noticed that each year they did had a different taste. So whatever Timisoreana taste this year next year will not be the same :))) it's always changing for some reason.
As a Romanian, I really enjoyed this video. It's one thing to grow up around tens of different beers, placing them in boxes and having various qualities assigned to them and varying expectations for each of them, and it's another thing when two newcomers try them out at first taste, completely removed from context (or so I hope). It's a breath of fresh air, because you are finally confronted with an outsider's view on how things really are on your side of the fence. The only thing I wished was that this was a completely blind test - aka, it would have been better if you didn't even see any bottle and label at all, as not to get subliminally influenced by the design and cheapness/bougie look of the bottle. But the video's still overall a fair clean assessment of beers you can find in Romania. (although there's a lot more to go, obviously; for example take into account the sheer number of more niche/hipstery beers like Nenea Iancu or craft beers such as Paloșul lui Ștefan that have popped up in the past 5-10-15 years). Also, the fact that they were all pre-chilled and served in glasses helps level the playing field. Watching TV in Romania, we are raised to group the beers into something like low-tier beers (Noroc, Neumarkt, Bucegi, Ciucaș), middle, everyday tier beers with some tradition behind (Ursus, Timișoreana, maybe even Bergenbier), upper-middle tier (Beck's, Carlsberg, Heineken - stuff that came from "the outside" and blew our heads away at first), and finally you obviously have the "untouchable high tier" with really well known stuff like Corona, Leffe, Paulaner and so - which is sad, cause in richer western countries, they are much more affordable to the general public. Thus, the fact that you guys tested them right off the shelf, stomped on all those made-up categories, and proved how actually almost all of them are watery shit is even more so hilarious to me. All of those "low" and "mid" tiers are really ok if you grow up with them, but you only realize what they lack once you have the chance to upgrade. After that, it's hard to go back and reverse your newfound knowledge. Bucur is indeed one of the better beers I have also drank here. I place it on par with others such as Dab or Csiki Sör (although they're Hungarian, so I think you can only find them in some parts of Transylvania). If you ask me, the best "pretty good beer, not cheap, not expensive", you find in our supermarkets, aka "the good mid", is Birra Moretti - again, not a Romanian brand 😬 On the contrary, if you want to check if a beer is truly Romanian, then it has a phonetical German name that doesn't reference anything in particular and sometimes goes through hilarious misattributions. I watched the video drinking an Ursus :)) [I'm Romanian]. Noroc! :)
To be honest, I was surprised you didn't like Ciuc. It's one of my personal favorites, though I also agree with your top picks. Also, I'm kind of disappointed you didn't try any of our craft beers like Zaganu or Hop Hooligans or Barlog (Barlog is the name of the Ursus breweries, which means 'lair' in Romanian). I know they're more expensive, but still worth a try I think :)
Personally, my favourite is Silva - Dark, although the Silva Blonde is also nice. Otherwise I ussually go for Ursus or Timisoreana. Never tried Bucur before, will have to grab one when I'm back.
The only romanian beers that I drink are Silva Black ( I'll give it a 8/10 wich I think it's better than the Guinness we have here, never tried the original guinness ), Timisoreana (6/10 okay) and I like Ciucas ( I like the corn flavour 7/10 ) and probably Ursus ( 5/10 ) ... the rest are awefull ... german, czech and danish are waaay better ... you should try Efes ( I think it's turkish, my favorite cheap beer ). I should definitely try Bucur

Yeah these beers were good and the staple 20 years ago and even earlier because there weren't that many foreign beers around. Nowadays it's pretty hard to find people that drink these unless you come from low income or work in construction or are the old guy drinking at a pub all night type of person. Ursus Retro is pretty popular with younger people because of the marketing I guess, it's not bad if you want a cheap beer. I would have loved to see Nenea Iancu here, probably the best traditional romanian beer we have (subjective opinion of course). But yeah most people drink stuff like Heineken, Grlosch, Paulaner and so on. I will say if you get a chance, try the Artisanal Beers, they've really exploded in the past years and we have some really good ones.
Guys, try some craft beer, I think you will like it much better. For ex. Zăganu. They have many kinds of ales and red beer and other types. You can do a video on international beer you can find in Romania. I think the Heineken beer from the supermakets is produced in Romania so will taste different.
Hahahaha . I swear I've tested alot of beers , from alot of countries but I've never smelled them . 😂 And maybe that will sound weird but I can't say I didnt like one 😅
Okay, who was the stunning "server?" She deserved a full frontal shot! I don't get you guys. You two are far too picky. Does any beer really taste good on the first sip? Every beer starts to taste better the more you drink it. I suspect your ability to discern differences among the beers deteriorated the more you drank. I can only remember drinking Stella Artois beer. I think I got more into drinking homemade wine and tuica and palinca. But it was great to see you guys still having fun there in Romania.
Want something good? Try Csiki Sor. Very clean, refreshing. Is rare in Bucharest and that area, u can find more in Brasov. But if u find it, try it. 10/10. Bergenbier, Ciucas, Timisoreana, Neumarkt - those are industrial shit for mass-consumers. Bucur, Mustata, Csiki Sor, Nenea Iancu - reall good stuff.

Right... after this rating video you can move out of the country :D Joking, I personally love Silva Bruna, that's my go to beer, before that, long time ago it was Tuborg Strong, that was like 7-8% (they don't make it anymore), I tried Bucur when I came home one time, very nice that one. Also, when I go out in Leeds (that's where I live) there is one bar that serves Neumarkt and I always buy that from them. If I do a try video I'll get drunk just from beers in Yorkshire area :)))
@@romaniac Sikaru, Zaganu, Terapia, Sapte Coline (and many others). Sikaru is the best Romaniana beer, hands down. Zaganu makes a mean IPA. Just be careful not to fall in the big-brand-that-makes-artisanal-looking-beer trap, like Corvin, made by Ursus.
If you're drinking Neumarkt, you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel 😄 Of all the mainstream Romanian beers, the only one I drink regularly is Ursus. But my favourite type of beer is Weizenbier, which means most the beer I drink is imported 🤷🏻♂️ In recent years there has been an increase in smaller (micro) breweries which tend to make much better beer than any of the big brands. It also tends to be more diverse than the plain blonde beer most big producers make. For example, I'm not a big fan of IPA beer, but there's a brewery local to me, in Berceni, Bucharest, called Perfektum that makes IPA I can actually drink. 😄
Hi Razvan. We actually once tried some romanian IPA... it wasn't the best experience. But maybe the brand wasn't good. My (david) favorite is also weizenbier 😅 haha okay im german. Which is your favorite weizenbier?
@@romaniac most of it is what's easier to find in a market here: Paulaner and, more rarely, Franziskaner. One I really like, but is hard to find here, is Rothaus.
Yea Paulaner is alright. I’m from the deepest part of bavaria. There are lots of amazing local breweries. I wish you could try these. Weinstephan is also available here… very good
The task is quite complicated. Let me explain, please. Whenever I want to get wasted, I drink Silva Dark (dunkel). Whenever I see the story going long, I stick with Harghita, not the best choice but the least bad for a long run. 5.2 or so, serves me well. By the way, how do you judge/evaluate a beer? Ignorant here, just drinker.
Era pana la inceputul anilor 90 apoi sa transformat in bataia asta de joc pe care ei o numesc bere. In ani 80 o bere timisoreana statea la fermentat si pana la 90 de zile. Acum in 48h e gata si in drum spre magazine. Pacat
A SPECIAL Video ... I'll keep it safe! None of the Beers you tested is a Craft Beer ... we also have Craft Beers but in general we do not consume such Beers ... because they are either too sweet or have other flavors and are no longer bitter ... and they are even more expensive! We prefer this kind of beer but very cold ... Good luck!

I drink beer sometimes and I only drink Tuborg or Bierra Moretti(not romanian)
Never heard of Moretti🤔 Where is it from?
@@romaniac it's italian beer u can find it anywhere in Bucharest like Mega Image Carrefour Auchan etc..
i would go Silva Timisoreana Bucur Azuga ... and last Ciucas
Everyone loves silva 🤯
You can do a video on international beer you can find in Romania. I think the Heineken beer from the supermakets is produced in Romania so will taste different.
Thats a good idea 😊
Fun fact: Romania is 3rd consumer of beer per capita in the world, over Germany.
Awesome fact.
Hahahaha . I swear I've tested alot of beers , from alot of countries but I've never smelled them . 😂
And maybe that will sound weird but I can't say I didnt like one 😅
I didn't try all but I agree couse some of them I try I have same opinion
Yea, try bucur if you havent done so yet!
you guys have NOt tryed BUCEGI Beer, indeed one of the Best. bucegi and noroc beers missig from there.
Superb ❤
Merci 💙
Where are you guys going out? (to party)
Everywhere in Bucharest, depending on where our friends go 😊
U should try Nenea Iancu.
Never hear of it🤔We will try keep a look out for it!
nice variety, but i was really hoping you would've tried silva pale ale, that's my favorite
Now I have to try Bucur when I go back home.My favoured is Timisoreana.
yes try it 😉
Muuuult mai buna Bucur
Okay, who was the stunning "server?" She deserved a full frontal shot! I don't get you guys. You two are far too picky. Does any beer really taste good on the first sip? Every beer starts to taste better the more you drink it. I suspect your ability to discern differences among the beers deteriorated the more you drank. I can only remember drinking Stella Artois beer. I think I got more into drinking homemade wine and tuica and palinca. But it was great to see you guys still having fun there in Romania.
Haha you may be right about it but hey, we liked what we liked😅
Bucur is the best beer 🍻
Yes !
Okay we will try them 😊 thank you!
You should try Zaganu
Good rating, I would agree with you guys 💯%
I think you should try the beer from microbreweries like Zaganu or Ground Zero Beer.
Total agree,but Azuga second place
Wow, never expected DEDEMAN to be in our comments!😳
@@romaniac It's just a fan channel, really strange to be a fan of dedeman, but well :))
Where îs Noroc? The Best beer la 3 kile
Please do a wine tasting also!
Great idea!
OK, guys, you are very nice, a pleasure to watch and listen
Bucur its the best beer i've ever had and Ursus its good only at 0,33 ml.
To be honest, they to advertise that they are using the old classic recipes. So maybe they don’t try to modify the taste to improve the taste.
Im confused 😅
Peaky Blinders i just finish season 5 is so good series
you should try Tuborg its my fav one :)
J0hN CeNa 😱 😍 Didn't know you drink alcohol.. 🤣 😉 But isn't Tuborg from Denmark? 🤔
@@romaniac my favorites are Tuborg ,Bek's, Carlsberg ,Heineken
I drink beer every day, Bucur is not that common, definitely Timisoreana is the best, but I will still go with Stella every day.
Yeas we think so as well. Timi for the win😊
The best bier in romania it hasn't been in this video the best are Noroc, Zaganu and Burger
Strong words there, are you sure they’re better than the sexy beast that is Bucur?🤔😂
@@romaniac try noroc one time and you'll see. I really like your videos nice words from strangers means a lot for us. One thing in romania and nobody can't desagree is that we have the most beautiful girls in the world here. Sănătate!!
Right... after this rating video you can move out of the country :D
Joking, I personally love Silva Bruna, that's my go to beer, before that, long time ago it was Tuborg Strong, that was like 7-8% (they don't make it anymore), I tried Bucur when I came home one time, very nice that one.
Also, when I go out in Leeds (that's where I live) there is one bar that serves Neumarkt and I always buy that from them.
If I do a try video I'll get drunk just from beers in Yorkshire area :)))
Haha you shocked us.... glad we can stay.
@@romaniac haha you know very well everyone is welcome, just drink with us and smile and that's enough 😁🤣 hope you have a great time!
14:48 LOOOOOOOOOL
Hey guys maybe next time you could try local artisanal beers.
Which ones are there?
@@romaniac Sikaru, Zaganu, Terapia, Sapte Coline (and many others). Sikaru is the best Romaniana beer, hands down. Zaganu makes a mean IPA. Just be careful not to fall in the big-brand-that-makes-artisanal-looking-beer trap, like Corvin, made by Ursus.
Sunteți foarte buni!
Respect from Romania! 🇷🇴🤗🤗❤️
Respect! 🤙🏾
Hey guys!
Nu am văzut berea Suceava!!!!!!
Next time!😢
What a coincidence, Bucur is also my favorite
👊🏾
If you're drinking Neumarkt, you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel 😄
Of all the mainstream Romanian beers, the only one I drink regularly is Ursus. But my favourite type of beer is Weizenbier, which means most the beer I drink is imported 🤷🏻♂️
In recent years there has been an increase in smaller (micro) breweries which tend to make much better beer than any of the big brands.
Weinstephan is also available here… very good
@@romaniac ah, yeah. I've had that one more than a few times. It's good 😀
Albacher FTW :)
Try Stejar.
Staropramen mates that's what I drink
never heard of it...
Hey. Please try pălincă please😅💪💪
We dont know how to evaluate. in the end its each ones own taste
@@romaniac True and agreed. Enjoy whatever you can :)
Timisoreana is the best in my opinion
It’s one of our favs! Good choice 😊👌🏾
Era pana la inceputul anilor 90 apoi sa transformat in bataia asta de joc pe care ei o numesc bere. In ani 80 o bere timisoreana statea la fermentat si pana la 90 de zile. Acum in 48h e gata si in drum spre magazine. Pacat
I don t drink bear ,but thank you if i will drink bear i know now what to buy! I am from Bucharest❤❤
Glad we could be some help haha
@@romaniac 🥰🥰
Silver Silva smells like Jiness 👍
Love it 😂👍🏾
Stella Artois / Amstel BEST !
Golden Brau, Silva, Ciuc, Bucegi are all made by Heineken.
🙁😕
@@romaniac and SABMiller makes Ursus, Timisoreana, Ciucas, Azuga, Peroni etc
Si toate sunt niste gunoaie, nu au nimic in comun cu Sliva si Bucegi din ani 80
A SPECIAL Video ... I'll keep it safe! None of the Beers you tested is a Craft Beer ... we also have Craft Beers but in general we do not consume such Beers ... because they are either too sweet or have other flavors and are no longer bitter ... and they are even more expensive! We prefer this kind of beer but very cold ... Good luck!
Thanks for the interesting comment. Makes sense 😊 Which is your favorite beer?
@@romaniac on the bottle I prefer Unpasteurized Beer like Timisoreana Unpasteurized Beer but even better is Barrel Beer ...
Nenea Iancu is the best beer among Bucur
Hello guys 👋try it (Tuborg) you will surely like it. It's my favourite. 🥂
In videoclip este vorba doar de berile romanesti
🤦♂🤦♂
Boys my conclusion is, you don`t like beer! 😂😂😂😂😂
Where is Tuborg my guy? You did not try Tuborg, is Românian too.
Yes, there were so may beers recommended to us but we couldn’t try them all🤷🏾♂️
Tuborg is Danish though. It might be produced in Romania for Romanian market though, but it's still Danish.
I don't like beer at all and yet I enjoyed your video.
That’s great to hear! Big compliment! Thank you
The more you drink, the better it tstes :)
hahaha oups. But you are right 😂
Homemade Wine. Vin de casa...
Good idea! But where do we get it? Can you make some? 😅👍🏻
Bucur is the best one
yeeeeesss 😉
