WCW Nitro should be praised for the great presentation of international, highly trained workers. There were so many styles on display from talent that had been developed and nurtured through the 'international' territory system. Rey Misterio jr. was laughed at in the locker room when he came in for his first match. They recieved him with a standing ovation, which I think was REALLY rare in those days.
Something weird about WCW: They almost never did backstage promos. Up until the Russo Era, promos/interviews were either at the entrance (ramp) or in the ring. I may be overlooking something obvious (cuz im high af as of this post) but on Nitro? Im drawing a blank. They did do backstage stuff on PPV and I do recall the "locker room" set on WCWSN but Nitro for a good number of years was confined to around ringside. .02
I think any backstage stuff on "Nitro" was presented to give the impression it was unscripted and unpredictable. An astute observation on your part, though I'm guessing that is why.
Thanks for these uploads, great to listen too at night. I just finished the Death of WCW audiobook that Brian reads so these are like a continuation of that. Thanks!
Fun fact: I have a 1st edition (paperback) of the book. I only bought cuz I was a Wrestlecrap mark. I had no clue who the other geek was at the time. Little did know, I'd be falling asleep to this midgets voice. smh...
43:35, actually, jesse ventura said it on tv a lot back when he was a broadcaster, but gorgeous george was saying it back in the 1950's, so not surprised a blonde heel would keep up using that line.
Any chance on picking up on Nitro’s from 98 as Krazyeman seems to have been sucked into a black hole? Thanks for this though, as Krazyeman only picked up Nitro from April 96.
Brian is really going off on these 'over-the-top-rope-disqualifications'. It was tied to tradition and history and it did make some sort of sense. Hardly the hill to die on.
The Fuj...pandmemic king looking after his fellow humans. Bless you and yours sir.

"When Nitro goes to 3 hours, we're done," he says, before reviewing every single episode of the series.
