Hi@@suz0000, Insurance does not cover elective cosmetic surgery, but it can cover eyelid ptosis if vision is affected, or at risk. However, my practice does not accept insurance; and eyelid ptosis surgery covered by insurance is focused on function, not appearance, so insurance won't cover revision surgery if you don't like the way it looks. I hope this clarifies things for you.

I'm currently looking at clinics in the Midwest, where I live. If I lived in Long Island, or somewhere East, geez, I'd see Dr. Prasad in a New York second. Thank you.
I love your before and after pictures and in depth reviews. Can a patient have both upper and lower eye surgery at the same time? or do you recommend them done separately?
Hi Linda Liffers, I actually recommend both upper and lower eyelid surgeries be done at the same time when both are needed, as it makes recovery time easier on the patient since it's only done once, and not twice if done separately. Costs for the patient are also reduced since operating room time, surgical fee, support staff, and anesthesia are only used once instead of twice. Hi @somes495, General plastic, and cosmetic surgeons are not trained to perform eyelid ptosis surgery. Both blepharoplasty, and ptosis surgery are highly precise because great results, and complications are separated by millimeters. The difference is eyelid ptosis correction treats the muscle that lifts the eyelid, while blepharoplasty is about upper eyelid skin, and depending on the case, fat behind the upper eyelid. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Mohammed Shamil, It is possible, but treatment would have to be done in the US. If you are unable to travel for treatment, I suggest you consult with local oculoplastic/oculofacial surgeon for a proper diagnosis, and possible treatment. I hope this helps you.

I recently had lower blepharoplasty and ptosis surgery done it’s been over 3 weeks now and I am very unhappy. At my consultation the Oculoplastic Dr said i should have both, under and upper blepharoplasty and ptosis done. I had no idea what ptosis was then. I asked him if the results would be good if I only did the the bags and ptosis surgery, since I could not afford all 3, he said the results would be great, Now I wake up every morning with excess skin folded over by eyelids. I didn’t have this problem before. I don’t look like my self.. I still have a little bruising and swelling under my eyes. I dont know what to do or what to expect. On day 12 post surgery, he removed the 2nd set of stitches under my eyes and said the seeking was pretty much done. But I look terrible specially in the morning. Please I need to talk to you I need orientation.
Sorry , what I meant to say on my last sentence was the dr said my swelling was pretty much done, but I look very swollen I have much more skin folding over my eyelids than before the ptosis surgery. It want even bad before.
Hi Irene Dominguez, Lower blepharoplasty would treat the fat in the lower eyelids causing eye bags, while ptosis correction would treat the upper eyelid muscle called the levator. The upper blepharoplasty you didn't get focuses on treating excess upper eyelid skin, and excess fat behind the upper eyelid. It is possible that more eyelid skin is noticeable now that the levator muscle was treated, and lifted your eyelid higher up the eyelid margin. I would have to examine you in consultation for a proper second opinion, but these are possibilities. It is best to have swelling resolve further before considering a blepharoplasty to reduce excess upper eyelid skin, and fat behind the upper eyelid, because post-surgery swelling would make any attempt at a revision inaccurate. I hope this helps you.
Hello. I am thinking of undergo ptosis repair surgery for my right eyelid. The problem though is that my right eyebrow is also hanging down a bit compared to the left side. I know that "brow ptosis" usually causes the eyebrow on the problematic side to compensate for the droopy eyelid, and thus become raised. However, that isn't the case with me. Like I said, the eyebrow hangs down. I am wondering, would surgery for the eyelid itself make the eyebrow go back to a more "symmetrical state" or should the focus be to surgically correct the eyebrow ("brow lift"), thus enhancing the symmetry in the eyelid? Or both? Appriciate all the answers!
Hi Simon Eriksson, Eyelid ptosis correction will only correct the muscle that lifts the eyelid called the levator, or its attached muscles. Brow ptosis is caused by a different set of muscles, so it would have to be treated separately, and in some cases it can be treated non-surgically. An examination is needed to diagnose the exact cause, and determine what can best help the appearance of your eyes. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi shila gyawali, Sorry to hear about your problem, but when was your last surgery? It's important to understand that the levator muscle is engaged thousands of times a day, every day for blinking. The muscle has a lot activity, so it can wear and stretch with time, so more than one ptosis surgery is usually needed in a lifetime. It is possible that when you were younger you had a full brow, smaller appearing eyes due to bone structure, or eyelid ptosis, but stretched eyelid skin at a young age is rare. An examination is needed to diagnose the exact cause, and determine what can best help the appearance of your eyes. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hlo Dr I am 29 yrs old I make surgery two times bt my tosis in same condition what can I do now for my droopy eyelid plz help me ...😌😥
Hi shila gyawali,
Sorry to hear about your problem, but when was your last surgery? It's important to understand that the levator muscle is engaged thousands of times a day, every day for blinking. The muscle has a lot activity, so it can wear and stretch with time, so more than one ptosis surgery is usually needed in a lifetime. @@AmiyaPrasadMD fine as you are. Thank you.
I have aged significantly and my eyes are a big part of that. I hope to somehow have them fixed someday. I can’t stand to look in the mirror. 😔
