This is actually really good Burgundian roleplay: losing way too many knights to a bunch of peasants with pikes. The real Flemish militia was the Goths all along.
The LeL logic I suspect at 11:00 is that stone walls on the back flank buys more time to move the eventual army to respond. Trust me, My Elo is pretty low
I thought that was because they would not be paying so much attention to their back, OR maybe have been flanked like that before and now have nightmares about it lol.
Blue hit 48 Vills and COMPLETELY forgot to create ANY MORE.... That whole Meme about focusing on army and micro while forgetting to make villagers for 20mins.
At first, he wanted to invest 100% of his food into Cavalier and upgrades. After that, he probably thought it was over and didn't need to make any more Villagers. That logic makes no sense, of course, since even if that were true, there would be no downside to continue to queue Villagers, but that is how many people think.
@@martijnbouman8874 yea and even then, blue was not out of the game at all when he called the gg. In fact he was still far ahead, he was floating 7k food and had a secure base. Idk man, these LEL matches always surprise but this one was something else.
I really want a 'take control' feature for replays especially LEL. At any point in the replay, you can sub in for a player and an AI will take over for the opponent.
My theory about Blue's walling is that he used stone walls at the back because it would take longer to get army to the back to defend so he used stone walls to buy time there where as the front is just palisades because his army can be there quicker
It's like he made a horse pen out of his base, gotta admire someone who sticks to their way of playing. This was such a cute match, like watching evolution in its making. There's a lot of interesting logic around LEL, but the one I really can't wrap my head around is they all seem to get to around 40-60 vils and then just stop building them.
at around those numbers you're both usually in castle age and so you have to focus every iota of effort on managing military production and attacking or defending
@@rrrrroope you just have to press 2 keys every now and then like for me its H for town center then C to create villager so every now and then u just go H-C-C-C-C-C-C then go back to army

Take the logic one step back- it's because it means blue only has to defend from the front, bc who would choose to attack stone walls over palisades? He just eliminated 2 of the 3 possible directions his enemy would ever attack him from.
at 11:00 I think the thought is that it makes it more likely that an enemy will attack the part of your base where your unit buildings and waypoints are at. It's like a baby step between "maybe i should stop full stone walling because of how expensive is" and full palisade walling instead
11:00 Where are you going to position your army? On the front of course. That means you are already protected there. On the flanks you arent though, so thats why LeL tend to fortify their flanks first. I approve.
Blue would've literally won with scouting. Ironically, that's after he scouted the whole map and it was RED who had really poor scouting. Blue would've won with scouting after he killed red's main.

So, at the start I was wondering why they are low elo, they seemed fine with managing the economy, queueing villagers. But then towards the mid I realized that there is always always always some aspect where these kinds of players are completely oblivious to, like the pikemen being cheap and good against expensive knights...

you stone wall the sides because your wall WILL be broken into, its pointless to waste stone full walling. it forces your opponent to attack your front. it should be a recommended strat 14:30 you still want to use as little stone as possible though. . .
you mentioned at the start that it's weird he spread his villagers and that goths are good at comebacks. i think red planned to lose the main base from the start.
As someone who hates being raided and does the same thing as blue I feel I can take a crack at why he stone walls the back. If your awareness is low then you want to minimise the points of entry to your base, stone walling the back makes it more likely the enemy will be 'funneled' to the easier palisades. Its an effective way to encourage the enemy to break in where you want them to enter so you can focus on the front and not lose half your econ to a back raid before you realise youre in trouble. Another layer to this is that once i stone wall the back i dont usually put anything back there other than farms if i get to the end game. If im going to be raided and need to quickly put a 2nd layer of walls i can do that at the front where most of my villagers are close faaaar quicker and easier than if i have to trek villagers to the back to try plug a hole. Ive had way too many enemies bust through my palisades before my villagers could get there for me to risk it anymore. In short, stone walls are an arrow pointing to where i want the enemy to fight me.
Honestly, if Red had only one stable hidden away somewhere, with 5-6 scouts he could at least distract blue's army, if not even remove blue's economy/population.
Honestly, I'd probably rather take a spear to the chest than an arrow. I did archery for a while when i was a kid and while both would absolutely suck, a bow is way more powerful. Sure, the mass of a thrown spear would help it do a lot of damage, but the mechanical leverage of a bow makes it able to penetrate so much deeper. We used targets made of very thick and heavy foam matting and the arrows, even from the fairly weak bow I was using when I was like 12, would stick out the back of the target that was maybe 25-30 cm thick.
How can blue be 600 ELO is beyond me. Like seriously... I play like old stinking boot and I am still better in counter-unit theory than he is. ._. This is the lowest of low ELO's logic. You know the most frustrating thing about red and other players like him in low elo? It isn't the making archers as goths and spending like 20+ minutes not making infantry at all. It wasn't the holes in the house walls. It wasn't the lack of scouting. So many low elo people have such iffy booming with tons of TC idle time. They get attacked and sometimes lose their base as shown here and then they immediately kick it into overdrive and start booming like crazy to "make up for lost time"...if they'd just boom like that to begin with they'd be in such better positions!
I have lured "boars" to my mill but I prefer the TC because you can put it under the middle and make the vils drop food instantly with a couple clicks. But then, red didn't do that either so....
I think scirmishers are throwing slower ballistics than arborists. Thats why they do less damage to infantry or cavalry. But maybe they have good armor against arborists, so thats why they do more damage to arborists. Not logic?
