Today I received mine drone-tag bs its price was $119.00 without battery which took two months to arrive, for many it is a bit silly to buy this module and they even make fun of it but for me it is better to obey the FAA laws and not be fined, For me it is hobbies.😊
Check out the Holy Stone module. In stock, small, lightweight (14g), self contained (5 hr runtime), FAA compliant and less than $90. I’ve had mine for several months and works fine. Have verified the broadcast signal with drone scanner app on iPhone. Don’t really care about range as I’ll never be using the broadcast signal.
Thanks for the comment! And yeah, it's a bit frustrating for these modules to cost this much - hopefully we see a decrease in price in the near future.
Fortunately, my Mini 3 Pro came with Remote ID built in. That's a good thing because I KNOW it's gonna work. The other point is that I didn't have to buy an outboard tag. Those things are expensive.
For the DJI Neo I used a Dronetag BS, very small LiPo and a custom 3D printed case that latches on to the prop guards, 4 grams, 2 hours of flight time. I tried using the USB C port on the drone for power, DJI must have a diode in-line with the +5... no voltage out and while there may be room for the BS inside the Neo, I'm sure I could never get it back together in any type of shape to fly or still work.
I Thought about getting the first one, the bigger one, but after I saw the price I just closed the app. Then I heard about that DJI was going to be doing updates to their drones so I waited. I'm glad I did because now both of my DJI air 2, and air 2S are now compliant. Personally, I'm not against RID, but let's be honest. Those prices are pretty absurd for what it is and can do. I love the content, and thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍
Hi Ken - great video - I'm wondering about the weight of the modules - does the weight of the Mini or BS count against the total weight of the drone, if we want to keep it under 250 g, or is the weight of the module not considered? Thanks.
Only for part 107 on under 250 gram drones. Recreational doesn't require under that weight. Now if you go over 250 and fly recreational you will need RID.

Nice! Let us know how it goes!
You must be very proud to spoil fun for kids so that you can play with your toys?
Appreciate The Fantastic Information On Remote ID.
HAPPY FLYING!

We'll look into it, thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for the detailed review. Still frustrated that I'm forced to put a $200+ wart on my $400 drone.

How about $200 for a $60 drone?
Thanks for doing the research and review guys, nice job @UAV Coach
Appreciate the support! Blue skies and safe flying!

Good to hear!

Thanks for sharing your experience with the dronetag and the Neo, that's really helpful for other pilots!

Interesting thoughts - and yeah it looks like it was a good thing to wait in this case! Glad you liked the video!

Thank you! And yes, the weight of any external module does count as the total weight of the drone.
is remote ID required for drones under 250grams? (no matter if recreational or commercial)
