The last mainline Crash game before series went on hiatus
Probably The poor sales of Mind Over Mutant killed franchies
Thankfuly we’re now in revival era of Crash Bandicoot with 2 sucsesfull remakes + new mainline game
I mean sure most of Crash games that came during PlayStation 2 era are medicore/mixed bag but still some of them have their fans and are part of Crash Bandicoot’s history

This game in particular shouldn’t be remade but redone. It still pays homage to crash and should be cannon. Crash technically is a mutant that was successful but failed to be controlled by cortex. Mind over Mutant should be the Final crash game though. N.Brio made a formula to turn himself into a mutant and failed in the first game and Cortex should want to revisit that formula and perfect it for himself. This would make the bigger mixed mutants we fight then once perfecting it he would take it himself. Giving him all of Crash’s abilities and more making him the perfect mutant….but I don’t think we should be able to “possess” the mutants and keep them. Maybe just give crash extra abilities he can pick from to get across Wumpa Island. But the storyline should be about the same

I would hope they do what they did with the Legend of Spyro trilogy and develop the concept with a third game. These games were great, but the gameplay could have been better.
Sadly the best we can hope for is a spiritual successor.
