  • It’s been about 2 years since I installed the remanufactured transmission in my 2004 Honda Pilot. This is the first fluid change since I installed it. In this video I share with you the tools and procedures for changing and checking the fluid level in one of these Honda automatic transmissions.

    Are you still planning to add the supercharger? Would be interesting to see how you approach tuning. Theres another UA-camr thats done it, but the piggyback tuner they use is no longer manufactured, and as far as I know, there's no solution for tuning the stock ECU in these first gen pilots.

    Question about the transmission filter ? I know these have it cause the accords did its on top of the transmission but shouldn't that be changed too . Not many talk about that on these

    • @ericthecarguy
      @ericthecarguy  7 місяців тому +3

      The filter should be lifetime, but if there is ever an issue with debris in the fluid, change it.

    Do you ever recommend replacing the transmission fluid filter? It's not listed as a service item, but I don't know how difficult or easy it is to do

    • @ericthecarguy
      @ericthecarguy  7 місяців тому +2

      Not unless there is an issue with debris in the fluid. Changing the fluid about every 30K is all you really need to do.

    You might should mention draining the fluid from a Honda only removes about 1/3 of the fluid at any time. I don’t know why but that’s how Honda designed it. Must be the way to do it.

    With Honda's, don't you check the transmission fluid level with it running?

    • @cannibalcalvin
      @cannibalcalvin 7 місяців тому +2

      You're supposed to get it to temperature, turn off the engine, and measure immediately. I don't know if it's for mechanical or liability reasons but that's always been the procedure for Hondas I've found.

    • @ericthecarguy
      @ericthecarguy  7 місяців тому +3

      Never. Engine at operating temperature off and on a level surface.

      The owners manual will tell you exactly how to check. Honda makes a pretty great owners manuals for their vehicles.

    An actual 1/4 turn would be from completely vertical to your handle being completely horizontal- which is quite a long ways. You only turned it about an 1/8th or even a 1/10th of a turn.. which is all you need.
