Sewing machine used was provided by Spiegel.
Exactly what I was searching for. The back vent of a skirt I am making is just like the one in your video. Thank you for sharing!
Great tutorial! I always get confused doing this but your tutorial makes it look so much easier. Thank you.
I appreciate your lessons. Easy to understand
This sewing lesson was great. Thank you so much.
You helped me line and finish my empire pencil skirt! First one....Sooo happy! Thank you for great clean clear tutorials.
so glad to help! :)
Thank goodness I came across your channel... Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this video!
You are such a great teacher, thank you!!!
Thank you! I had a pattern for a lined dress recently, and the instructions for attaching the lining at the slit were so confusing, I just ripped out the machine stitching and did it by hand because that's how I learned it. It seems the pattern companies are trying to minimize hand sewing, but sometimes, hand sewing is best.
You are talented.
This was an awesome video.
Thanks so much professor
I was waiting for this.
Thank you very much
A miter corner on the skirt would be very pretty on the inside. I don't have the skill to do that work yet. Your video is very helpful.
Très magnifique Merci
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you!!!!!! Appreciate your time and effort. ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
thank you for watching! :)
Tks for sharing
So finishing the raw edges with a serger or zig zag stitch isn't really necessary then? The instructions on my pattern say to but I wanted to skip that part.
Nice video. What kind of lining is that? Looks really nice for skirts
for this demonstration, I just used standard 100% cotton fabric
Great video#
Thank u mam I want to see the drafting of this skirt
Do you have a video lining an overlapped vent? This doesn't look like the vents I'm used to. Great video for a slit, but I'm looking for a vent lining tutorial. Have one? One where the extension is pressed to on side and stitched down at an angle?
oops, just saw you already saw this one. we don't have one with an overlapped vent yet. sorry
@@ProfessorPincushion Your videos are so helpful! I'd love to see a video for an overlapped vent, also. Thanks!
what are the measurement for the extended vent please? I would like to add one on my skirt
Where is the second technique with lining?
The part where you try to hem the facing fabric vent slit makes no sense. The fabric does not ‘naturally’ turn over, and now I hardly have room to make a hem.
My daughter is getting married and she order her dress on line she wans me to do a split on it and Im not confident to do it because of the linning in it can you help me? maybe recomend another video
hmmm.....so adding a slit on a something ready-to-wear? that's a tough one. We have a video on converting a regular skirt pattern to a pencil style and adding the vent extension but it wouldn't be the same since it's working with a pattern. All I can tell you (and I don't know if it's helpful or not) you always want to put your vent on a seamline. So this is either on a side seam or center back seam. This way you can remove the stitches to where you want the slit to stop. Now doing this on something already made means you probably don't have a lot of seam allowance to then fold over to the wrong side of the slit, which is why it's better to alter a pattern and do it from scratch. But if you find it's not enough fabric, you can frankenstein it by sewing a new strip of fabric to the raw edges of the slit you created so it looks more like my examples and gives you more fabric to work with. Hope that helps a little.
Nice video but you are too fast👍
More of hand work.I like the finishing but I don't like the hand stitching work.
I'm sorry but i have to tell you that you speak tooooo fast! 😔😉
