    Challenge idea, beat Spore start to finish using only the mouse. To my knowledge, everything has a clickable button for the mouse. It would make for a great video in my opinion.

    Great video, I learn a lot about Spore's mechanics from your channel. Is there a particular reason why you declined Forest nation's trade offer?

    • @KinglyValence
      @KinglyValence  2 роки тому +21

      Thank you!
      Denying Forest was mostly out of habit. Before I knew about the communication bypass I would deny every request from other nations as fast as possible to save time. But there isn't really any reason to deny their trade routes.
      Maybe if Forest gifted me some Sporebucks I'd consider it ;)

      @@KinglyValence On the other hand that bonus traded could give you a bit of money (IIRC)

    • @KinglyValence
      @KinglyValence  2 роки тому +5

      Yeah, that's true. I hadn't really looked into the amount of money gained when the vehicles trade with the city. I'm not sure if this is to represent taxes/tariffs or general trading profits. But I did some experimenting and that money is actually quite a bit and it may have been worth it to allow Forest to trade (but maybe not at the risk of upsetting the other nations) but something I might do if I were to do this type of run again!
      I tracked and graphed the amount of money gained when vehicles trade with the city. The money gained is very consistent with our (the player's) vehicles, but doesn't appears consistent when other nations trade with us, although it is usually around the same amount, but not exactly the same like our vehicles. The money gained is based on the Economic power when the vehicle picks up their spice, not when delivered like when the cities trade progress is made. Money gained is different between Tanks and boats and different for their Economic powers. It also increases as the vehicles trade, not as the city becomes available for purchase, but it appears based on the amount of times a city has been traded with. I graphed the maximum amount of money gained per trade:
      Equations calculated with 8 data points.
      y = Sporebucks
      x = Economic power of vehicle.
      Power Vs. at Home Boat: y = 6.77x + 32.2, R^2= 0.9998
      Power Vs. away Boat: y = 3.38x - 12.3, R^2= 0.9999
      Power Vs. at Home Land: y = 10.04x + 35.3, R^2= 0.9998
      Power Vs. away Land: y = 5.02x - 10.8, R^2= 0.9999
      The slopes appears to be about half between when trading with our city and the rival nations. Planes are probably different too but I haven't calculated those yet.
      I love this experimenting, thanks for inspiring me to do this! :D

    when i was 8 i used to always do this on civ stage because i didn't wanted the other nations to hate me, i ended up doing a full blue/economic run buying and allying everyone, after that i did a full red and green run and i didn't know you got different skills on space stage for mixing trees, green ended up being the hardest for me on civ and it wasn't until watching your videos that i discovered why.
    last time i remember doing was allying the grox and then buying all their systems hoping to extinct them and become the ruler of the galaxy's core, it was a slow challenge because of the trade route limits and i didn't get that far, i wonder if by doing that other saves would have an easier time reaching the center

    3:49 you rejected their trade proposition. I have a pratical theory that I figured out while playing... It seems that if you accept a trade route proposition from a small nation that is being attacked, the atacker will likely see you as a threat in the future. Is that right?

    • @KinglyValence
      @KinglyValence  8 місяців тому +1

      The attacking Nation might ask you to stop trading with the defending Nation. But I'm not sure if that will cause them to see us as a threat. I think that's more to do with how many cities we both have and how aggressive the game treats them, but it's hard to know for sure.

  • @HansLemurson

    A very hard challenge that I made for myself accidentally was to try to win an Economic Victory on Hard, but starting as a Religious civilization. Any advice on how that can be achieved?

    • @KinglyValence
      @KinglyValence  Рік тому

      I think to capture one of the small Economic cities (hopefully a coastal nation) as religious as early as possible then hunker down and give the other large nations money to keep them happy. Trading only needs to be done with 1 vehicle at a time so only having 1 small economic city for a while only being able to buy just a few Econ tanks at a time I don't think will matter too much. Slow and steady would be the way to go, just make sure to keep everyone else happy and keep trading with cities even past being able to buy it to keep increasing the relationship :)

    • @HansLemurson
      @HansLemurson Рік тому

      @@KinglyValence I came painfully close to victory. The only other coastal city on my continent was Militaristic. I rushed to convert one of the two small inland Economic cities, while the Militaristic one (Red) conquered the other econ city. I wasn't able to get relations up with Red, so had to resort to Religious conversion.
      I was able to befriend Blue, another Militaristic Civ, since I attacked their enemy, and they ended up conquering Red's capitol (4th city on my continent). I opened up trade with them and made them my allies.
      I bought their city, giving me a coastal city and a count of 4, allowing me aircraft.
      Then I noticed that Blue had just finished conquering the world, and they sent me a message declaring a Diplomatic Victory!!!
      A _RELIGIOUS_ victory, since I'd only bought 1 city.😰
      Mission Successfully Failed.😢

    • @KinglyValence
      @KinglyValence  Рік тому

      @@HansLemurson Oh man! Sounds like you got close! Yeah it's too bad the ally doesn't move the timeline. Almost like you'd need to thread being blue happy +30 relationship, without going over +70 to be an ally to keep buying cities without joining. Give it another try, you'll make it!

    • @HansLemurson
      @HansLemurson Рік тому

      @@KinglyValence Yeah, it's a delicate balance, because "you are a threat" can kick in or vanish without warning, and make you an ally or an enemy.
      You also have to ensure that your ally wins the war for world domination, which (as I learned painfully) can fail if you buy their cities too soon. (The winning faction whose demands you've thrice refused shows you no mercy. 💀)
      It's a pretty tough challenge. I'm not sure it would be appropriate for one of your speed-run challenges, since it's so heavily dependent on the behavior of AI nations.

    • @KinglyValence
      @KinglyValence  Рік тому

      @@HansLemurson Maybe it could be done with 3 cities and one ally nation controlling the rest of the cities and trade route with a bunch of cities at once and buy all of them really quickly to move the timeline before the merge. Could even pause between buying them to give more time. How many cities bought does it take to move into the Econ range of the timeline?
      I might consider doing something like this as a challenge run so it doesn't have to be a speedrun, sounds fun! Maybe starting as military would be even harder because the other nations won't like you even more haha. Or was there a reason you're doing it as a religious start?
