Wonderful Song ! Love it ! This song is widely regarded as the unofficial anthem of the County of Kilkenny, and Daniel sings it beautifully ! Magnificent Video ! It has some lovely scenes of the countryside, and is a top class production ! Many thanks for sharing this fabulous upload ! 5*****+
Grand mother was born there she became a citizen in the 60s . She said about America " The Irish built this Country" I was a kid and thought she was Joking Second largest Demographic in America is Irish! She had a picture of John Kennedy on the Mantle. If anyone said anything bad about America look out! She loved America. You cant beat the Irish God Bless Em !
Based on a true story.Man called Watt Murphy,a catholic, lower class labourer in his mid 50s fell in love with the Vicars daughter who was protestant,of a higher class and was in her early 20s.They both lived along the banks of the Suir right beside what is nowadays Polerone Quay which is in Polerone. They both fell in love with eachother but her father did not approve of it so he sent her back home to England and he never saw her again. He wrote the song about her and his broken heart with how much he misses her.
+KK Cat .Sorry to correct you on one point.Watt Murphy was in fact an intellectual, poet & schooteacher. It was Watt who actually composed the lyrics of this beautiful song.Slainte
+tourlestrane1 Yes I 100% agree.I only learned that shortly after I made that comment. And yes I knew he wrote the song. But he was still of a lower class when compared to the local minister
