For how much work went in to create both designs, and the fact Pascal's designs are the inspiration for the Skeeride, I feel they both are priced right, and a smoking deal as well. Considering how much time Pascal has invested in these things and his hesitation to release the files I really hope he gets compensated. Thank you so much Pascal for creating these guys and your constant dedication to improvement and innovation!
Thanks for doing a comparison. As a side note the prices are a dollar Canadian, not dollar US. 60 cad is as of today 45$ us. Then when you factor in the fact that it's snow cooled and you don't need to buy a motor cooling fan, it's an even better deal!
@@rcprinter any motors that are 36mm diameter, smooth bore can, 5mm shaft and 2500 to 4000 kv. Lots of units fall into that. My go to is the castle mamba 1410. Great unit
Nice comparison. That Alpha has a facebook group, there's been a few mods also when I last looked. Also yeah the Cat is a bit more narrow, if I recall it is because of the real model's dimensions being narrow (track more narrow for the monorail, etc.) I have a feeling that the track breaking issue has something to do with the link pin weight, I had zero breakages last wi ter and I ran two sets of bearings on my project sled. I use a different track with 1mm piano wire connecting the track pieces, though also the track base frame is a lot more smaller.
If i order the “fastener/bearing/servo/motor+esc” for the ski ride what else do I need? Obviously remote and receiver, but curious if y’all offer a Full kit that includes literally everything but the 3d printed parts? Thanks for the video!
gears, shocks, battery would be the biggest things... Unfortunately we don't have a full kit that includes everything but we do have gears: rcprinter.com/products/54t-spur-gear-modulus-0-8-to-fit-traxxas-vehicles rcprinter.com/products/32dp-pinion-gear-set-12-16t-3-175-bore-7075-aluminum
@@rcprinter appreicte the reply! Battery is understandable. Now to find where to get shocks haha. Just got my printer today. Have to build that first then start printing. Glad I found your channel!
PETG seems to shatter easily when impacted I find. Something like Nylon might be better I think. You can print this out of whatever you want though and I do try different materials when I have issues with breakage.

Thanks Pascal, that's good to know! Do you have any specific motor recommendations for your sled?
There are also mod files for the alpha 6 where you can extend the a arm's they use longer shocks too

Which one do you enjoy running more?

can i buy a fully one
people will sell them. check the fb group or the discord channel.
Looks nice
Why don’t they use pets for stressed parts?

Alpha 6 has been really reliable in stock form compared to the skeeride. There's a lot of mods needed on the skeeride for it to become reliable.
yeah the Alpha is more reliable out of the box but the skeeride is definitely easier to build initially for newbs and can be upgraded for reliability.
Too bad we don't have a lot of snow here
ROAD TRIP!
Alpha is priced right, skeeride is cheap af
