Hi, is the function of coke drum is to make sure coke forms in the drum it won't be formed in the fractionator? (For the sake of lower OPEX)

The highest temp point might be inside of furnace tube, but why the coke build up at the drum?

the vacuum residue is passed fast in the furnace to assure we prevent the formation of the coke inside the furnace.

Because we add boiler feed water to delay coking from furnace to drum .
