    Hello Again Ginger, Just absorbing all that I can. And thanks for sharing. I do know that some artists do not like to share their processes and techniques. But, as we are all different, so the things we do turn out differently. I think of all those who have studied the great masters and, in essence, attempt to copy their techniques. I think it's okay to pick up bits and pieces from others. When we pull things together we make them our own. You've become my art guru!!!!

      Thank you. and you are correct many cooks won't share a recipe and many artists will not share at all. So silly, I love to share what I know while I am still on the planet and able to do so. LOL

    Yet another quality tutorial for the incredible price of FREE! You're such an excellent instructor Ginger, I've referred anyone who wants to know how I've learned to paint to my favorite YT'ers and you are always one.
    So I have a 9x12 canvas with my background dried, your PMP gallery photo printed and my paints laid out- I printed also a greyscale, and I printed them all at 8x10 size because I want to alter this very mildly and would appreciate some advice/help.
    This lil dog looks almost exactly like my Auntie's dog and she was the caregiver for my mother for the last few years until recently and I thought this is a perfect thank you token that is bit better than and more meaningful.
    I posted this on your Facebook under someone else's recent painting of this and haven't heard back so I figured I'd ask here. The deal with altering to make it her dog, Bandit, is he looks exactly like this dog except for two physical traits that make him uniquely Bandit, one is he has one ear that is always up and one down & two is his tongue always hangs out a bit lol.
    I posted his photo on the fb post. So I figure I could easily add his tongue and make the basket a tiny bit lower and his ear.. That's why I printed 8x10, to have room up top to have one ear up....
    The only other differences is his fur has less orange/copper tones which I think I can account for...
    Does this sound like a decent plan? Any suggestions?
    Thanks for all you guys do and love the new contest!

    • @ChoochooseU
      @ChoochooseU 7 років тому

      Oh one other question, I can't seem to find the link to this new FB group you guys mentioned a member started at the start of the video and can't quite catch the name Jon said it is called...?

    • @gingercooklive
      @gingercooklive  7 років тому +1

      I think you have a good plan for making it your friend's dog. Just go for it. If at a later time you decide to participate in our on line acrylic academy, one of the best perks is personal art coaching. Subscribing members send me their art work for help and suggestions and I keep very busy replying and offering help on those paintings. Once a month they can send in a original photo or painting from another source that is not in our lesson catalog which is presently over 275 videos, and I will offer comments on those. I am afraid I do not have time to offer advice on Facebook, but I do love to see the paintings people do, and will post a few each week on my Pinterest Student page.
      I will have Jon talk about who to contact about a personal painting buddy but I feel this is a great idea for those who what to participate and each artist can encourage the other. Thanks so much, Ginger

    • @gingercooklive
      @gingercooklive  7 років тому

      It depends on the color of his skin behind the fur. If it is a dark brown or black start with that and then add the next darkest shadow colors. All depends on the dog.

    I have 2 questionsWhat is the gray paper on which you are the most colorful?The big picture in the background, with the waves and stones, is very nice !!! Is there any time a step by step guidance of it?I know that a similar technique is shown inthe video "translucent ocean wave", but I think there are still some differences?

    • @gingercooklive
      @gingercooklive  7 років тому

      Hi. Thanks for the questions. Yes there is a big differences between the beginning wave and water painting video on UA-cam, and the 48x60 ocean painting behind me. No there is no tutorial for this but I have a "wave and water master class" on my website for viewers who have an interest in painting the sea and water in general. We cannot not film a video of a 48x60 painting but have one wave and water master class video that is over 7.5 hours long on a 24x30 canvas.
      The gray paper is a wax paper disposable palette. I like the gray so you can see the white paint to and the colors stand out on it more correctly for the camera balance.

    I had a lady want me to do 140 original cards for a bridal shower. Needless to say, not at this time. Story.. When I was in high school I painted a clown & the art teacher wouldn't except it , he said it was too good to be mine. Crazy how school art teachers often have such a negative effect on their students. Cinnamons art teacher in highschool would leave the room and go surfing as he had tenure... Told her she was too realistic and should paint abstracts.... dumb.

    I just looked the Victoria Finlay book up in the Austin Public Library catalog, and the title is A Natural History of the Palette. So if you don't want to buy the book, see if your library has it. Even if your library doesn't have it, they can borrow it for you from another library. I was an interlibrary loan librarian (and research and cataloging). Libraries love to share.
