Hotel Ristorante La Gondola opened in the former doctors' surgery in 1969, becoming the talk of the town with plush furnishings and a gorgeous Venetian style. But when Ramsay visited, he was aghast at how little the Osmaston Road restaurant had changed with the times.
It wasn't long until the venue closed for good after that, in 2009.
