I have no problem with the size. Sandman in his relaxed form has never been depicted as a massive Hulk sized figure to my knowledge
The BAF mold is suitable for a Hercules, Thor, Collossus, Absorbing Man of course, and other very tall characters. It never made sense to me for the BAF to be so large. I think this mold will be perfect for Sandman. However I cannot deny that the BAF looks so much cooler. If i can have a scaled down version of the BAF, with human interchangeable arms, that would be my ideal version. But I can already tell you now, the Retro will replace the BAF on my shelf. And my BAF will now be used as a powered up version of him.
Good way to mix and match and still incorporate the BAF in your collection. He'd also do well with Select figures if you don't have the Select Sandman.
For me it doesn't bother me for one reason: his powers allow him to alter his height. Marko is billed at being 6'1 in his default, non powered form. He's one of Spidey's bigger foes but his mammoth size was him using his powers to look taller or in mid transformation. Besides, we got normal arms AND sand powered arms which was what I was begging for since the BAF figure. I like display and play options like that where Sandman isn't using his powers. So I don't mind the height. And Spidey is 5'10 in most media and next to the retro spidey, Sandman actually looks a few inches taller than him (if we use comic standards, not toy standards).

That's actually a really great observation. My Avengers collection is all 80s and early 90s era, so the new Dormammu is ideal, but I really want that BAF, especially since I reviews the Masters of the Universe Skelegod. I think they'd be great side by side.

Most of us wanted a smaller scaled Sandman. He wasn't much of behemoth in the Romita run of comics.

I don't understand that whole thing because he is literally the size of a regular man, unless he uses his powers to change is height.
Exactly. Which in a way makes it cooler, because almost any size Sandman can fit in almost any collection.

Correct. I knew about Luke Cage and Hydroman, but I wasn't aware they got a Punisher out of it too.
Great video, I thought the same when I saw the new retro Sandman next to the bad Sandman. I've pre-orders the retro figure but am still, to this day, umming and areing on whether to pay overs for the baf figure.

i preordered it and i think it still looks cool especially since my sand man baf is a custom i did of figures with the same body molds such as dormamou and absorbing man and some parts that are actually from the baf

I mean, ngl I’m still preordering this bc if Tobey maguire is in Spider-Man no way home, imagine his action figure, and I would probably re create the scene from Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man vs Sandman.
It's a great scene, and looks to be a great figure to recreate it with. Given that this body was made for live action Luke Cage, it just needs a Thomas Hayden Church head to be a perfect movie Sandman.
There’s was never a sandman on the 1994 Spider-Man animated series.
it's just the packaging, none of these figures actually end up looking like what they did in the animated series. That new retro Venom will be the 1st 1 that's accurate, and I hope they make more, I want a buff Spider-Man and buff Peter Parker.. I think British Spider-Man's body would be a good re-use for that

Toybiz made a Sandman in their Animated Series style by repainting a Hydroman and including it in the Maximum Clonage box, though it's not the same as a single card. It is a gripe of mine too, but I am just happy to have the figure. And the new Animated Venom makes up for it. I'll be making a video about that in the next couple days.

I think it'll be a good figure, something I'm wondering is if the old baf arms could work in the new one.
My guess is that because there is such a difference in size that the sockets in the new one won't be deep enough, but it is worth a look when the time comes!
Personally I've wanted this exact figure since the Hydro Man if not the Luke Cage. Photography is always tricky to keep the colors from being washed out and the style of sculpt from ToyBiz isn't something I'd expect. All I really need now is a different lower half for the Baf to be more monstrous.
And now I'm just reminded that I've never been able to get that retro Rogue
Yes, this new version of Sandman feels right to me based on where the Marvel Legends line is currently, aesthetically-speaking.

Retro Sandman is size accurate now. Hasbro tends to over scale quite a few characters that are normal sized or not as large as they make the figure to be. 80th Hulk, the Thing & Kingpin are 3 outta scale characters that shoulda been a full inch shorter. Sasquatch shoulda been 2 inches taller. Even classic Thanos shoulda been at least 1/2 to 3/4 inch shorter.
I'm pretty happy with the size of Thing and Hulk personally, but I am definitely with you that Kingpin is way too big.

The DST is a good one. I think if I could put the BAF head on that body it would be just about perfect, though I am excited for the new one.
My only problem is that the head with the hole is a straight plain facial expression, I personally wouldn't be calm if someone punched a hole in my face
