Yeah, I had the same reaction to the preacher's suicide at first... suicide is a denial of God's grace and first class ticket to hell if it's deliberately chosen. But, having been suicidal myself a couple of times and dealt with it in some family members, I think God cuts a huge amount of slack for those who are so mentally ill or so in despair that they lose contact with reality. I think in the preacher's case, God would consider his despair in the moment. But who knows?
