I had the privilege of meeting the voice of Anastasia! She was so nice. There was an event at a school where broadway artist come to talk to high school and middle school students about their lives and how they got towhere they are . She came with her sister but she didn't sing Once Apon A December :( But im so happy i got to meet her. She has also played Grizebella in Cats and was also in Miss Saigon.
This was my favorite movie as a child...now that I have a one year old niece looks like I don't have to make excuses to watch it over and over again :)
I feel like a have heard this before but my family doesn't have the movie and I don't think I have watched this before. but this song seems familiar. Eh, maybe it's just me haha Anastasia reference.
I remember watching this OVER and OVER when i was a little girl! this was the first movie my grandma gave me & this is also the first movie i remember watching! this is the reason why i fell in love with the disney movies, because of this exact movie. I would love to have my grandma alive again, but i know she's watching me.
I saw this for the first time a few hours ago, and i'm 17... i can't believe i never saw this when i was little. i saw most animated films, but never this. it's beautiful! i love it!
okay people this movie is not disney but a don bluth film i grew up on this movie and disney as well yes at first i also thought the same but i looked into it but does it really matter if it's disney or not it's the song that counts
I had never seen this movie, or heard the song and a kid at school starting singing it by me and I fell asleep and they kept singing it all day. I couldnt stand how relaxing it was.
This is one of my favorite childhood movies. Actually, it is my most favorite from my collection. Even my VHS was broken due to overuse because I watched this the whole day and even everyday. Anastasia built my childhood. ♥
I had completely forgotten about this movie until a few days ago when someone mentioned it. I can't believe myself. This was the first movie I ever saw. I enjoyed it then and enjoy it now. I always will. And also Am I the only one who always knew it wasn't a Disney movie? I see so many people saying they can't believe it isn't. I dislike Disney as a company so I am glad they aren't part of my fondest childhood memory
This song makes me cry almost every time. Current "modern" Disney movies hardly ever do that. Where did all the good days go? It makes me sad to think that those days are only memories anymore. They are "Things my heart used to know, once upon a December"
I remember LOVING this eefing movie waaayyyy more than the Disney movies. But I totally stopped even thinking about it or the music, because everytime I listened to it after reading about the REAL Anastasia when I was 7, I would cry. But that was ten years ago, and now I can listen to it without balling my eyes out, because I still love this move and it's a vital part of my childhood. And yes, I still believe Dmetri is gorgeous. :3
O my gosh I remember watching this movie when I was way younger and I always wondered why I never saw it again! I totally remember it now and I swear I am going to rent it from somewhere and watch it some friday night.
I've had this song stuck in my head out of no where for the past month and I couldn't figure out where it was from and I just found all my old VHS tapes from when I was little, and i remembered this movie but very faintly, so I decided to watch it, and this was the song! :DDDDDDDD
I remember we had to sing this at school when I was little, and just now as in trying to sleep the lyrics to this popped up in my head, I totally forgot about this song until now. Feeling very nostalgic
i love this movie. i got it for christmas years ago from my aunt and uncle. im so happy they gave it to me! its my favorite non disney movie and it also beats a lot of disney movies (i know i hate to admit that!!!)
i found this song through a different disney video, and though i haven't seen the movie(mabey when i wa real little) but, now i want to go watch it, this has got to be the best song in the movie, its beautiful! also the instumental is to die for, its great!
omg i remember all the times when i was little waking up at ridicleous times in the morning so i could watch it and hear this song every day before school , this is the first time hearing it in a good 10 years and i still know all the words and adore it, aw
Who else misses their childhood??? Back when you could watch movies like this and NOT get laughed at. Do you know what??? YOU STILL CAN WATCH THESE MOVIES!!!! I do, and my friends laugh at me. To them I say; "I think it's sad that you've lost the little girl/boy in you. I feel VERY sorry for you."
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie! I really wish I was able to meet the REAL anastasia! I mean, the movie is soooo magical to me! It make me wish it would all come to life again...
did you folks notice the stereophonic sound is mesmerising , her voice emits from one channel left speaker, and the musiic is being relayed on the right speaker. true stereophonic
ok i am definitely gonna watch this again cuz i used to love it but i cant remember ANYTHING about it anymore except this one scene in this big empty building with like these fairy girls dancing around and theyre all glittery and sparkly. haha. aahhhh. MUST. WATCH.
Awkward moment when you are listening to the "Disney Song Playlist" and Anastasia comes in. Not complaining, I love Anastasia, just seeing the ironie in this :3
my sister and i used to watch this all the time in the 90's and i never understood why it wasnt as popular as a disney princess movie, the film and music are really just fantastical, and i always thought anya was prettier because she wasnt a dafodil she was fiesty!
People give this movie a lot of crap for the creative liberties and historical inaccuracies, but lets face it people; it was the 90's. So long as it was fun and brought the money in, who cares? Actually now that I think about it we've never gotten out of that.
I love the movies and stories about Anastasia but when I found out about the REAL story, I cried. A LOT. And I was reading, so it makes you cry even more when you imagine the pain they went through
I think it's Meg Ryan in this one since she's the one playing Anastasia and if you listen to it in the film it's the same voice she talks with. The studio version is by Deana Carter :)
Ppl who post these comments 'I'm 17 and this is my fave film', so what? Like we care how 'old' you think you are by saying that, you guys dont differ much from the others here. We just dont make it such a big deal.
I'm 14... And I still love those movies! I can still remember some scenes... And maybe they are for kids, but what's bad in being one again for one hour?
every time i think about what happened to that family and how the real anastasia was never found i think of this song and it brings a tear to my eye everytime.
2:35, hahaha! I also thought it was a Disney movie (just like Spirit or El Dorado), but it's a very lovely movie. I think I saw some pics when it was in cinemas. I was only 6 then, but I loved it
The director of Anastasia was one of the main people working for Disney after Walt Disney died. He left Disney and created his own studio, that's why it's so similar to Disney. They're similar but to me Anastasia has a little something Disney movies don't have, it feels a bit more dark and grownup.
@MrHyerty VCR stands for Video Cassette Recorder. A VHS tape stands for a Video Home System tape. Just clearing it up for you. I hope you've been able to see a movie on a video tape. I don't think they have been making new movies on video cassettes since 2004. :(
This song is so much more heartbreaking when you realize that Anastasia most likely really did die.
she did
Most likely? More like most horribly.
This was one of my favorite movies as a child.
My right ear enjoyed the singing
lol I noticed that as well
WickedMalady 9plo
Ikr
Omg all the time i was listening to the video just with the left headphone . I was wandering why there's no one sings 😂😂
Tay Norbs
same 😂👏
I had the privilege of meeting the voice of Anastasia! She was so nice. When I think of Anastasia tragic's fate, I can't help but think of Christina's Grimmie. Tragic innocent victim of violence.
I feel like a have heard this before but my family doesn't have the movie and I don't think I have watched this before. but this song seems familiar. Eh, maybe it's just me
haha Anastasia reference.
my favorite song :)

i found this on a disney play list someone messed up this isn't disney
okay people this movie is not disney but a don bluth film i grew up on this movie and disney as well yes at first i also thought the same but i looked into it but does it really matter if it's disney or not it's the song that counts
Beautiful song thanks for sharing but not a Disney movie
I had never seen this movie, or heard the song and a kid at school starting singing it by me and I fell asleep and they kept singing it all day. I couldnt stand how relaxing it was.
No matter how old you are, you are never too old for movies with princesses, who sing!
Very very beautiful! I love Russia!!
Why is this in a Disney song playlist? Anastasia is not even a Disney movie
***** it isn't. It's from 20th Century Fox
Still this is a good song
Ouatfan1303 it certanly is
It was made by ex-Disney animators though
That still doesn't make it a disney movie...
This isn't Disney though. ..
But it was directed by ex Disney directors. So the style looks disney-ish
Yeah, but it's on a disney playlist.
I was born at the peak of the Disney movies, Im now 21 and STILL watch and love these movies. :)
This is one of my favorite childhood movies. Actually, it is my most favorite from my collection. Even my VHS was broken due to overuse because I watched this the whole day and even everyday. Anastasia built my childhood. ♥
Not The original... -_-
Does it HAVE to be the original? I quite liked this version.
This isn't the real singer, it sounds nice but not nearly as professional as Deana Carter or Liz Callaway
I love the guitar in the song, it makes it sounds so beautiful.
Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about this movie! I haven't seen it in forever! Brings back lots of memories. :)
Honestly, this was my favorite movie as a child and still is. I love this movie.
I can say this is the first time i've ever heard of this movie at this moment in time. Just another one of those to check out list.
I remember LOVING this eefing movie waaayyyy more than the Disney movies. But I totally stopped even thinking about it or the music, because everytime I listened to it after reading about the REAL Anastasia when I was 7, I would cry.

This was one of my favs as a kid, I still watch it :)
I'm singing this in my singing lessons!!! This song is soooo beautiful!!
I adore this movie! When I was little I used to cry at this song a lot.
This movie is my childhood. Darn i knew i shouldnt have watched this! Time to dig through my DVDs and watch ANASATASIA! :D
OMG, I loved this film so much when I was a little kid ...... And I still can all the songs. I still love it !
90´s kids
i used to know all the words to this song and sing it practically every day.... i don't think any child used to love this film as much as i did!
O my gosh I remember watching this movie when I was way younger and I always wondered why I never saw it again! I totally remember it now and I swear I am going to rent it from somewhere and watch it some friday night.
Beautiful... I'd love to see the movie someday.
this movie really opened me up to non-Disney animations. I used to be a Disney purist, but there are some truly amazing non-Disney movies :)
We actually sang this song at my 6th grade chorus Christmas concert... I still have not seen the film, but I've always loved this song.
I've had this song stuck in my head out of no where for the past month and I couldn't figure out where it was from and I just found all my old VHS tapes from when I was little, and i remembered this movie but very faintly, so I decided to watch it, and this was the song! :DDDDDDDD
wow this is really good i love this film and that voice....its beuatiful right you gotta be a princess! ....x
I watched this movie a lot when I was younger
I remember we had to sing this at school when I was little, and just now as in trying to sleep the lyrics to this popped up in my head, I totally forgot about this song until now. Feeling very nostalgic

The little guitar solo is really cool.
RIP Romanov family.
I've heard this song in so many languages and no matter what language is sounds so beautiful :D
the music is sooooo chilling, but it makes me love the song even more!
this is an awesome song!!
it's a kind u could sing to ur child as a lullaby!!
I love Anastasia I was shocked when I found out it wasn't Disney. But I think that's what made it better. :)
this is the only song i know all the words to by heart! love love this movie to bits!
i found this song through a different disney video, and though i haven't seen the movie(mabey when i wa real little) but, now i want to go watch it, this has got to be the best song in the movie, its beautiful! also the instumental is to die for, its great!
Anastasia always used to scare me when I was a kid, but I did love the film... still do :)
Aww, I remember I loved this movie! Gorgeous song. :)
omg i remember all the times when i was little waking up at ridicleous times in the morning so i could watch it and hear this song every day before school , this is the first time hearing it in a good 10 years and i still know all the words and adore it, aw
OMG I HAVE to keep this on my fav's!!!! I sang this song when I've long forgotten it.
Who else misses their childhood??? Back when you could watch movies like this and NOT get laughed at. Do you know what??? YOU STILL CAN WATCH THESE MOVIES!!!! I do, and my friends laugh at me. To them I say;
"I think it's sad that you've lost the little girl/boy in you. I feel VERY sorry for you."

Haunting music, great characters, loosely based on history... XD
probably that's why it's even better than disney ones, I just love this film !!
Wow... One of my fav films!
This movie is underated. I love Anastasia.
Amazing how many people remember this. It was from a group that did two other good movies, Titan A.E. and Bartok.
Awkward moment when you are listening to the "Disney Song Playlist" and Anastasia comes in. Not complaining, I love Anastasia, just seeing the ironie in this :3
Omg I remeber this! When I was little id put it on my vhs and dress up pretending to be a princess. I wasn't the only one right?lol bet I was.
The first time I seen this movie was in 1998 and It's 2013 and It's still my favorite movie. I love it
Its good enough and has that warm and magical feel about it.
my sister and i used to watch this all the time in the 90's and i never understood why it wasnt as popular as a disney princess movie, the film and music are really just fantastical, and i always thought anya was prettier because she wasnt a dafodil she was fiesty!
People that dislike this had no childhood. Too bad for all of you. I pity you.
People give this movie a lot of crap for the creative liberties and historical inaccuracies, but lets face it people; it was the 90's. So long as it was fun and brought the money in, who cares?
