Why is everybody shocked that the 9th player in the world beats the 305th player in the world? Nadal is a very promising player and has a great career ahead of him.

I knew Hurkacz would be a difficult opponent for Nadal after he came back fresh from injuries. Good job Hubert. And for Rafa, we are just priviledged to see him play no matter the results, he has nothing else to prove. Let’s enjoy all of Rafa as much as we can, while the legend graces the courts. 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐

Great play by Hurkacz. He was so silent during the play. Insane! Bravo!
Raffa's problem is that:
Mentally he is ready to keep playing, but his body tells him that enough is enough...

Oldal tried to grind him down, but Hubi admitted, all it did was allow the Pole to find his rhythm. After that, it was a DVF wrap dress.

I didn't realize that...incredible!
That crucial period of games took Nadal's legs out for the rest of the match. It explained why Rafa looked slower defending afterwards, as well as making bad dropshots and net plays out of desperation. Maybe you'd get away with it against a lesser powered player, but Hurkacz hits big and deep consistently and there's no escaping that.

Hurkacz doesnt have an issue with Rafaels topspin. He can take it at shoulder height. You gotta keep the guy busy on his feet!
Correct. Once a player is able to handle the topspin above shoulder's height, there is honestly nothing in Rafa's game. Nadal's game has always been one dimensional topspin bullying the backhand. Novak is also someone who could flatten it out straight to his forehand.
@@Supreme-ni1yt😂😂😂😂😂
@@Sztarmadrid19292 What's so funny? Nadal's only tactic is to bully the opponent's backhand with his moon balls. Federer can tell you everything about it
@@Supreme-ni1yt That's far from Nadal's only tactic. But it is one he used an awful lot, especially on clay and especially against Fed. But, of course, a big part of that was because Fed's rally backhand drive sucked and he was terrible at dealing with Rafa's high kicking ball to his backhand. If you watch old matches of Nadal versus players with strong backhands, he didn't focus on that side nearly as much. Against Fed he hit nearly everything on that side. And why not? It worked.
@@flat6croc
If it works it works, but he abused the hell out of that tactic goddamn.
It's like a cheat code because it's almost impossible to get such a ball back in play. Even if the player does return the ball it will still land in his strike zone. On clay almost everyone was terrible dealing with that kicking ball, including the double handed backhanders. Novak was able to do it but couldn't maintain it for many hours. That grinding style got on my nerves ngl 🤣
Hubi!!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 the nicest guy on tour!

Hurcacz pocketed Nadal. Yet, Tennis TV had no shame on highlighting more the loser than the winner. Shame on you Tennis TV.
He's not your average loser. Have some respect!!
Respectful Hurkacz. Thumbs up.
Anyone who plays tennis at an intermediate or high level... or even if you watch and appreciate the game at the court level, knows the toll it can take on your body.
Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem are two players who put in the most effort, physically and mentally per shot... look at what happened to Thiem. In addition to his injury, he is also mentally burnt out. An average bloke won't even last 6 months, let alone 2 decades if they replicate Nadal's style...the effort and toll, on the body and mind is colossal.
In addition to the stars being aligned and genetics, the reason Rafael Nadal was able to sustain for so long: his greatest weapon, his mindset. He has turned debilitating OCD (atleast on court) to a weapon- I have to fight and suffer and absolutely not give up on every point and additionally destroy my opponent...regardless of whether my mind body or emotions cooperate. It's the same "psychopathic" mindset Jordan and Kobe Bryant had. Win or die trying.
That's why I'll teach my kids the Djokovic way of tennis. Federer was supremely gifted, and Nadal has a peerless mentality. The Federer and Nadal way can not be taught.
Djokovic could only beat a declining Nadal on clay. Nadal's peak on clay ended way back around 2009/10. Even Thiem started beating Nadal on clay since then
@@astro6020Djokovic way also cannot be taught. The way he slides on hard courts without getting injured is insane. You can't teach that. Longevity is mostly genetics everything else being equal.
@alburaq3290 As a tennis coach myself, i will absolutely teach the Djokovic way.
Obviously, you can't replicate 100% of player attributes. But the core basics of the Djokovic game: his stroke mechanics (best in the game) is very much replicable, and also his balance on the shots. I would neither teach Federer's FH and BH. It looks pretty, but the wrist work and timing needed is sheer talent. Rafa, for obvious reasons, too much stress on the body.
Remember Hurkacz bageling Federer at wimbledon?
Top spin balls from Nadal keeps comin’ back with interest. Rpm no longer the same still a great champ. Good job Hurkacz!

@@huzcer You miss my point. That was when Rafa was at his prime. He is not moving as well, the pace of his serves and groundstrokes are not the same. Much weaker player now.
Not the same as 2008 lmao...2008 was SIXTEEN YEARS ago. None of us are what we were 16 years ago.
@@2011hwalker Rafa was in his prime, he was 22 in 2008. The injuries and age has taken a toll. I just don't see him winning another major.
Only player in the world to be ranked no 1 in 3 decades🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉....now beat that
Rafa is obviously not the same player he was but it’s great that he’s back to play RG one last time and get the send off he deserves
At the rate he is playing, I believe Rafa will announce his retirement after the French Open.
the way it looks, that would be the smart thing to do. when i saw him training, i felt he shouldnt come back, but hey i thought hed never make it this far :)
Doubles at the Olympics with Carlos
After RG, he confirmed the Olympics and Laver Cup
@@eincan1313 Laver Cup is an exhibition event, though (and a good payday, I reckon)
@@jooohan True, was just stating the events we will see him play.
Thiem retires, Rafa retires, a sad year for tennis.

@@mikemizerak7026 right😢
And Shwartzman
Thiem retired some time ago already
Murray, Stan, Monfils and Fognini are not far behind as well.
