This song references the folk ballad / poem "Miorița" (The Little Ewe Lamb). It tells the story of a shepherd who is about to be killed by two other shepherds. When he is told this by one of his sheep he does not try to escape his fate but he starts to plan his funeral.
To spare his family the sorrow of his death he sends them a message that he had married a princess and that the whole nature was part of this wedding. Also, the Sun and the Moon (Soarele şi Luna) hold their wedding crown.
So the whole song explains his impending death and the girl in the clip symbolizes his fate which he cannot escape. Or maybe she is even Death personified. At the end he follows her so he dies.

@@Purnamy First time I see a person on the Internet talking about this year's eurovision I can agree with. Moldova and Czechia are the only songs hyping me up for this year's final.
I just hope they both do well, even though I don't believe they win. There's some other average-at-best songs people seem to like this year more.
As a Ukrainian now living in Romania (and learning romanian) I have a chance to really appreciate the song! It def gives me Go-A vibes and I love this style.

@@lea-la-reveuse I will quote another comment from the National Perfomance: "this song references the folk ballad / poem "Miorița" which, put briefly, is about a Moldovan shepherd who is given the vision of his death by the hands of two other shepherds. he sends a message out for his family to say he has married a princess, to explain why he is gone, to spare them the sorrow of his death. traditionally, you need godparents at the wedding - so instead he says the Sun and the Moon (soarele si luna) will be the godparents instead. this song essentially the message from the Moldovan shepherd to explain his impending death.
