If you can encrypt you can decrypt :) To simplify take the massage u want to decrypt highlight it and copy and paste into a text editor or note pad (preferably text editor). Next highlight the encrypted text. Right click and go down to ("SERVICES") and select ("OpenPGP: Decrypt Selection") It will prompt you for your password. Type it in and it will decrypt your message in the text editor for you to read. Hope this helps.
Yes you are correct. But using PGP encryption protects your keys, and the one receiving the encrypted key or message cannot open it without your public key.
