i can't fathom how nerve-wracking that would've been to keep having to audition, he really added so much to the show and it's cool how he felt he really deserved that part/it was the perfect fit (which it was)
I’m so glad Eric got the role as Cam. I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that role. Casting has a lot of pressure too because not only are they looking for the actor that fits that role, but also the chemistry and relationship of the other cast members. It really helps make it all come together.
Graham is one of those rare interviewers who actually allows a guest to answer a question/inquiry without constant interruptions or giving his opinion! His interviewing style is just so refreshing! I wish the (what I call) ‘interrupt-interviewers’ could watch some of Graham’s postings to better their own guest interviewer style. Listeners get so much more from the guests and this style can really lead to pieces that unveil more interesting facts/history from the guest!
Probably my favorite character on MF is Cam, partly because he reminds me of myself in many ways, but mostly because he is just plain funny. Thanks Eric! You did a wonderful job with Cam, I hope to see a reunion show or spin-off, those characters are just too good to keep on the shelf forever. Take care!
He was so funny. There are moments I will never forget. Cam dressed for "Cats" stuck in a tree having to be rescued by a fireman. Suddenly realizing he's doing Brando when calling for "Stella!" the dog. Running and screaming that he just "swallowed the sun" after eating food that was just too darn hot. He deserved his Emmy wins. Wonderful character, meticulously, smartly created by this brilliantly comedic actor. I'd love to see him in another sitcom as a Jackie Gleason Honeymooners type of blue collar guy, something totally different. He'd be great.
When Lily was a baby and got locked in the car and Cam came shrieking with a garbage can to try to break her out. The Onsite car voice “Sir can you calm your wife down?”
There absolutely should've been a Mitch and Cam spinoff.

Fucking why? For what possible reason? The entire purpose of an ensemble is that at they all feed into each other. It would be deeply weird to have two characters from a hit show suddenly be without the rest of the cast to play off of. Some of you people are weird as shit.
I suspected the ones casting the part had a visual of what they wanted Cam to look like and it was just that Eric Stonestreet had a different body type. In the back of their minds, though, they KNEW he was good and he worked in that character BUT I bet they had to drop their vision of what they THOUGHT the the character 'should' look like.
That’s the story of casting in general. Anytime anything is written the team have a vision in mind and it’s up to the actors to show they are in fact the right choice
Eric is one d the most amazing actors on this show that ever made history in this lifetime filled with love of his own talent and passion for the love of all acting in general that he well deserved and I hope this cast comes back to do another reboot of another season or a big movie deal
Very relatable story. This is also exactly why that show was such a hit. They hired the right, funny person regardless of characteristics. It’s the opposite today both in front of the camera and behind the scenes and that’s why so many things are awful now.

One of my favorite Cam moment was when he tried to compete with the Lesbian couples to get Lily into this private kindergarden. When he spoke to the principle and said in this native Americam accent: "I well my white man name is Tucker. I am 1/16th Cherokee. Ready for child to sore like Eagle!" Mitch's instant reaction was: "Ohh God!" 😂😂😂
some of these stories happened to the writers in real life. Every episode was just too dam funny. The 2 animal balloons on top of the car humping each other, I died !!!!
I don’t know if I have the constitution for this kind of work. Basically spend most of your life convincing strangers that you’re the one over a 10 or 15 minute process. Then get rejected all the time until you leave the industry or do something else in the industry. Unless you happen to somehow get selected, then hope 30 other things go right that you have minimal control of in order to receive some success. I support taking risks, but acting in the tv/film industry is tough.
I can't relate to fame being the ultimate goal. That's clearly Eric's goal. He wants people to know his name. I'm more like George Costanza: I don't want to be remembered. I want to be forgotten.
@@jstmarton I *do* get it. There are millions of people like Eric who think that becoming famous is the goal. They live and breathe and dream for the day that they will be admired by millions. It's basically a form of validation for them. They need others to love them in great numbers. The more famous they are, the more validated they think they will feel. It's sad, really.
Eric elevated the writing spectacularly. I dont like Modern Family. Hes the only reason for which I watch the show and I even know it. He's a brilliant actor.

It was a little confusing, but he said he's is a relationship with another man and he's the paternal one-referring to the other man. So Cam needed lighter clothing...because he wasn't the paternal one.

The Stella thing was so good that I thought maybe they named that dog Stella years before just to set up that scene.

We are now finishing season 7 watching on hulu... still as fresh and FUNNY! as it was when we first watched the series on ABC.

No doubt, easily the best dynamic on the show. So timeless.
A ‘Mitch & Cam’ spin-off because . . . Lily 😈 she is a stone cold savage!
Crazy, he's one of the best characters on that show.
GREAT STORY! Happy For Ya All!!!
He isn't reading this.
I can't tell you how many "Cam Quotes" are yelled around my house weekly "Do you ___ Do you?" "FIX IT". etc. He's part of our lexicon.

Somewhere a gay man is watching this in a lavender gingham shirt, navy pants, and a grey cardigan saying, "Betch you don’t know me!🤨".

man I wish they brought modern family back I absolutely loved it
Drugged up at airport is still the funniest scene!!!
My favourite character from the show, Eric WAS Cam 👏🏻💖✨
Cam is one the funniest characters on Modern Family. I can't imagine someone else playing his role.
He was perfect for the role, one of the best performances in sitcom history for me.
Great interview Graham!
Eric Stonestreet IS Cameron!! xx
But did he go back to Macy's?
I was wondering the same thing!
They were all great but Phil and Cam made me laugh the hardest.
one of those shows it's 💯 impossible to pick your favorite character because they're all the best one
I agree. And every character had unforgettable lines/scenes…

I wish this show was still going. Whooe family loved this show. Laughed so much.
No one else could’ve played Cam
Great show. Great actor. Great effort!
I’m so so glad you were casted 🎉, no one could have played Cam
Cam was the more paternal one?! Lol.
He is hilarious in the part.
Gone are the days when Graham was wearing 3 piece suits for his interviews, love that he's wearing shorts here 😂

Well? Did he go back to thw clerk?
Yeah. I also want to know if he went back to the sales lady and thanked her (and maybe gave her a tip).
I love me some Cam!!
Is it me or should he play Tim Walz on SNL?
YES!!!!
Walz is lighter dude.
Omg. Yas!❤❤❤❤

Yes, but trump wanted to much money.
