As a father i know how it feels to see your son grow up and like and play the same music as you. My son is 17yrs old and is my guitarist or bassist depending on who writes what, i am the drummer, guitarist, or bassist and he is coming along nicely on drums sobwe should be able to move around on any instrument soon. The first time we actually played together so awesome because it was so natural, my brother who is a drummer as well came over for Thanksgiving so we set everything up in my garage and I filmed it and it came out perfect. If anyone wants to see it's titled "dad, son, and uncle james". Didn't want to hog the spot light here haha just wanted to share! God bless
You are a lucky guy. We can all tell that you are a good dad. Teach him to be a simple man and a leader. If i were religious i would tell you god bless.
Rich Parsons thanks for the comment, that is good advice that is being practice already. God has blessed us tremendously and i appreciate your thoughts about "if you were religious" that actually means a lot especially from someone who is not. We just did about five new songs if you want to check them on my channel under the "band practice" Playlist. God bless you and again thanks for your kind words.
You prolly dont give a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
Right...... I noticed the first time i watched this how much he has the same style and stage presence as Mike. But for some reason as many time as i have watched this i just really noticed that he pretty much looks exactly his dad did back in the 90s.
I took my then high school daughter to this show at Irvine Meadows (hahahah). It was great dad/daughter moment for us and when Julian played this song with his dad and the band while I was watching with my daughter it was a kind of magical moment.
I've taken my 2 girls to see them several times now at different venues, it's a truly loving shared experience that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
Wow! Mike must be sooooo proud of his two sons. Julian is an amazing guitarist, and Johnny was really great in the Machine Gun Blues video. I love how he has involved his children in his work. What a great father :)
Awesome vid.!!My dad took me to see the Ramones 4 times when I was 15,I didn't think much of it then but now I look back and think of how a lot of parents won't even let their kid go to a concert at 15 let alone bring you to one.Very grateful to have such an awesome dad!!
Right? In the beginning of this video I was like "This is 2011, but that's Mike in 1990?" But I love how Ness features his kids in his music, you can tell he's real.
that lead that julian did was spot on. i've been listening to that song since in was new in 88. that tells me he respects his father's music if he can do the lead note for note. nice vid.
The boy needs to smile every once in a while. Geez, how many young men get to play on stage with their father who's such a legend? He needs to appreciate the experience more.
Playin' his Daddy's guitar. Doubt he will ever think it's as awesome as we do. Growing up with Mike Ness as your dad wasn't all fuckin' roses, but your dad made millions of people happy. And Julian, you shredding it on his guitar for these 5 minutes was pretty fuckin' cool. So thanks.
My dad never played anything but he definitely supports my playing. he comes to most of my shows, and he doesn't always like the songs I write but he's there. I'm just hoping when I have kids they pick up an instrument. I won't force anything, well, maybe a little ;), but I don't want them to not play because they feel obligated to. it's great that Mikes son seems to enjoy it! he even does his hair and dresses like him. hell he's got the moves to! Mike must be proud!
Mike Must Be So Proud Of His Kid Up There With Him, Rocking Out Some Social D, Sporting Some Ink & Playing His Goldtop.!!! I Think It's Time For Mike To Start A 3 Guitarist Version Of Social D !!!!!
completely cool to have his son up there, i hope he understands that he is privileged to be the some of such a great man , its seems he has, he is a mirror image of his dad and there will be someone to pick up the mantel when it falls, is is a great guitar player and obviously listened to his dads teaching
the kiss was from father to son... beautiful moment between the two.... if you read up on them they didn't have the best relationship when Julian was younger
Julian rocks like his old man. Love that. Im 52 my oldest child is a girl...she is 16 and asked me some of my favorites from "the day".... Uh Social D came out first...
He DOES have a father who was in the spotlight growing up, but he casts his own shadow and he has overcome many obstacles like INSECURITY and ADDICTION all brought about by the "luck" you call it of being a "rockstar's son". He doesn't need to relate to his dad's music. He loves his dad on a whole other level and I can assure you that mike's number one fan is Julian. Not because of the music, but because his dad has protected and supported him, and been a role model to him.
Not because of the music, but because his dad has protected and supported him, and been a role model to him. Reminding him to know what he wants and to go get it. Mike is a father and his whole life built up to having his pride and joy, JULIAN! So if you enjoy Mike, enjoy his son. He surprised me with his wonderful heart and you shouldnt speak on what you don't know. YOU are what is wrong with this picture.

Can someone tell me what year that Les Paul is that Julian is using that usually Mike uses. I thought I had heard that it was a 1970. Let me know. Thanks! :)
He's totally like a young Mike! Just taller and skinnier! Ha! It's crazy that he's all tatted up already, and dresses just like his dad. (then again, the dress could just be for the continuity of the band/performance)

My friends have been locked up with Mike's son Julian and its great to see him out and excelling with his talents, so amazingly inspiring
@@richparsons330 come on Richie, say it; everything big still exists! All blessings to good people.
I love the smile Mike had right before kissing his son. Mike has the best smile.
Just like Mike Ness said, “When we’re old or dead we need somebody to pass the torch.”
P.S. Father & son goals
You prolly dont give a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
@Joseph Danny Yup, I've been using instaflixxer for years myself :)
and we are passing the torch to the dumbest generation in World History. Millennials listened to the wrong idiots. Like Germany in 1933.
Man it's crazy how much the kid looks and plays like the old man. It's like watching some kind of time warp.
Right...... I noticed the first time i watched this how much he has the same style and stage presence as Mike. But for some reason as many time as i have watched this i just really noticed that he pretty much looks exactly his dad did back in the 90s.
Julian is a super good dude too.!
@@dusdincorleone no he’s not. He’s a total jerk. I love Social D, but that kid is a total snub. I know from a run in I had. with Julian.
Beat comment ever 😊
@@val13c59 What happened?
You can see that Mike is proud of his boy and has raised a handsome and talented boy. one of my favorite videos
I took my then high school daughter to this show at Irvine Meadows (hahahah). It was great dad/daughter moment for us and when Julian played this song with his dad and the band while I was watching with my daughter it was a kind of magical moment.
Irvine Meadows the good ol days. Now it’s Verizon wireless how lame
I've taken my 2 girls to see them several times now at different venues, it's a truly loving shared experience that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
Julian smokes on guitar... The kiss was not gay, incestuous... Pure love. Awesomeness.
I met Julian Ness this year, when my band played with Manic Hispanic at Alex's Bar in Long Beach, cool kid! Looks just like his pops!
Iisn't it ironic that prison bound brings nothing but positive comments on youtube? Love it.
This is one band I must see before I die!!!!!!!
1blkgsd I've seen them there fucking amazing
I seen SocialD play many times in early 2000’s, and let me tell you they are really great live!
Wow! Mike must be sooooo proud of his two sons. Julian is an amazing guitarist, and Johnny was really great in the Machine Gun Blues video. I love how he has involved his children in his work. What a great father :)
Now that little kid in that vid is a HUGELY talented Tattoo artist...

Aww a proud papa...Julian looks so much like him, even the same style. Good job kid!
Ha. Mike without a guitar is strange. This is fucking awesome.
Right? In the beginning of this video I was like "This is 2011, but that's Mike in 1990?" But I love how Ness features his kids in his music, you can tell he's real.

Just gorgeous 🥰 luv u Julian!! Social D forever!!!
Not a prouder moment when you can share something you've taught your children together!
Damn, Mike's son looks so much like him when he was younger. Great video! :o)
This concert was great! I road 400 miles to see this show, and it was worth every one.
The boy needs to smile every once in a while. Geez, how many young men get to play on stage with their father who's such a legend? He needs to appreciate the experience more.
He just seems shy on stage. He did smile a tiny bit after his dad kissed him.
Holy Crap! He looks just like him.
Wow I teared up watching this knowing me and my ole man never got along, Mike Ness is the best man ever damn....
I was in the pit...this was like my 6th Social Distortion concert and everytime he is so damn good!
Awesome. It was like watching mike 20 years ago and mike now. Unbelievable video. Thanks for posting it.

i love this video , its a gem
just like looking at a younger mike...
Thanks for posting! That was awesome
That was fantastic filming. Whoever shot that should do that professionally. All of us old guys are jealous of Julian Ness.
Okay, this is seriously like seeing Mike play with himself from the early 90's. Julian is a mirror image of his dad, and a hellacious guitar player.
is it tho? seriously?? like watching Mike play with himself???
Father and Son ... Both are Amazing!!!
Mike Ness the most gorgeous man, still to this day🖤🧡🖤🧡
He is. Sexy voice too.

God Bless You I am currently fighting cancer. I vow to win!!
I hope you'll excuse me if I shed a tear watching that one...especially when he kisses his son.
Me too, I miss my Pops!!
Phil Didier definately made me shed tears
at about 2:30 Brent looks over at Julian and smiles.
Fucking beautiful man!! Beautiful!!
Father & Son now know the situation.Think Julian knew all his dads vices & sins Friggin Great!
@davidcotestratton This was in Irvine, CA.
That was such a good show
That drip on both of them! Always wanted to look as cool as mike still does!

His tone is very different from Mike's yet still reminiscent. Cool to hear that.
The best things never change
the kid took it away. searing solo. hard put to name two better songs live, ever, by anybody, than prison bound and bakersfield.
the torch has been passed.
Looks just like Mike Ness 20 years ago!

Can someone tell me what year that Les Paul is that Julian is using that usually Mike uses. I thought I had heard that it was a 1970. Let me know. Thanks! :)
I would have loved to see the ending on that.
Go Julian! 💪
Holy crap. Julian looks just like Mike in the "Ball and Chain" video. Wow.

God Damn..!!! I Wish that was" FOOTPRINTS"!!!!
Julian Ness doesn't play the guitar very well actually, but his father proved again to be such a great man involving his sons in his job.
Yes i noticed the same
