Mark Crossfield, Diagnostics: tips for high handicappers to know what we’re doing right or wrong. There’s so much going on that I find it hard to pick out the salient bit of info. i.e.: the signal to noise ratio is low and my ability to sense toe v. heel strike, for instance, is low. Add inconsistency and less natural ability - what’s going on from one shot to the next is a mystery. I know getting lessons is one answer, maybe the only answer. You playing left-handed gave you some insights but you adapted too quickly. Maybe you could do something completely outside your comfort zone - knitting perhaps. P.s. This video is great. I’ll watch it over and over ‘cause you’ve packed so much into it. I probably need to take notes.
Cheers Mark. These segments are where you are at your classic best... high golf IQ, Newtonian level instruction matched with actually showing us the magic versus droning on... well done. Please keep these coming sir. A segment on the mental game, playing under competitive pressure and performance thoughts on staying in the zone would be helpful.
This is great. There are loads of videos on YT called 'hitting your irons better' that all say the same things - dealing with fats&thins. Not this one, far wider array of things ! an instant save-to-favourites ! Thanks! (Great camera work too!) 👍👍👍🔔🔔🔔
Fantastic and simple as always! So this is for beginners and not someone playing for the last 25 years, I beg to differ, that's top quality stuff simply explained. 👍
These videos are coming at a good time for me. I haven’t hardly played any golf this year, and now I am dealing with some med issues that are limiting what I can do. It’s amazing how much you miss playing golf when you can’t 🙄. Hopefully in the next few months, I’ll be able to get back at it, and these videos are all good reminders of what I need to do. Thank You!
Looking forward to getting the clubs back out and working though the basics especially with my long irons . I’m 58 and feel I’m permanently learning and that’s all good.
My irons were my strong suit, struggled with a lot of heavy shots this year. Lessons have been helping, but a few ideas in here I'll certainly be trying. Great serious of videos!
Wowza! So much information so fast. Love it. My irons have always been a weaker part of my game. One lesson, a very different backswing feel and they are now a weapon. Not automatic yet but getting there. Two under 70 yesterday. Missed only 2 GIR. All because of iron play.
Yet again mark another fantastic video great work more of these please keeping it basic is the way forward the game game can be so frustrating and yet so rewarding 👍👍👍
Lesson with my pro really helped with my set up, I was slouching and close to the ball, as you said is common in this video! The follow through and moving ball forward drill has really helped me with strike
Hi Mark, another great video of the key swing tips. I like the tip with the ball way in front of your feet, as my problem is maintaining a good and consistent follow through. Keep these videos coming and I will always watch them.
Love this video. Covers so much. I've been playing for many, many years but I've had very few lessons. Those I have had have been tinkering with the swing I have. I've never really heard the absolute basics; it really makes me think about my swing and try to work out how many of the right things I do and how many I don't.
Great video mark and not to technical. I would like to see your take on a golf swing for a senior golfer we’re full body movements are not achievable. Many thanks Dave.
Wow, very interesting. Can you make a video showing/explaining how an iron interacts with the ground before contact? Something I've never heard before. Great vid as always.
Great video! I'm in the process of going through another set of lessons to fine tune my game. I had a terrible in-to-out path and working on the basics again to get me back to a more "neutral" swing. These tips are exactly what my coach is putting me through. My ultimate goal is to work on these throughout the winter and then get fitted in the spring.
Hi Mark, I really enjoy the channel and I have learned a lot. At the moment I am struggling to pure my long irons (4 and 5) and would appreciate a video on this. 👍🏼
Maybe a video on some drills that can improve and prevent pushing the ball to the right for a right hand golfer. Ive been struggling with this for quite sometime now. Thanks and great video.
Fantastic video, Mark. As ever you give incredibly sound advice. My problem is taking what I do on the range to the course. There is very often a world of difference between the two. I don’t know why and it drives me nuts. Anything on that weird phenomenon would be brilliant.
Great video been experimenting with different follow through 's amazing how many different shots you can get , more in your armoury. Spot on that thanks 👍
Lav mic! Great! I’d recommend to bring the level just a little bit more down and bring it in post a bit back if needed. It sounds that you’re really really close or sometimes a bit over 0 dB. A great level is between -6 and -12db
This is very good. I've been playing 40 years, but still get a lot of value. A good progression now would be course management. How to take these basics onto a course when you have the pressure of a competition, weather and topography to factor in.
Great vid bruh! I've spent all season searching for my backswing fix. Yes I know what it is causing but so bogged down in that I've genuinely not enjoyed my golf all year. Need to free it up and experiment on the range and think about types of shot, not the perfect swing
Due to age/flexibility the most common fault I see ( me included ) is hitting at the ball and not following through properly. You Dan and coach Lockey all finish properly, but you all have different actions throughout the swing. Dan is the most fluid, Lockey the most mechanical and you seem to have a very fast right shoulder through impact, but the fundamentals you're explaining are all very similar, thanks for another great vlog👍
Great new series! Used to be a really good iron player until my chipping and putting "went wrong" so concentrated practice on them and my iron play suffered and hasn't recovered since lol keep up the good work 👍
Brilliant series , so many great points , this is the reason I subscribed in the first place to this channel .. in my opinion the reason I started playing golf again and definitely the best coach on youtube .. well done bruh 👍👍👍
Great video Mark. Very informative and nice way to reset one's swing. My trouble is that I tend to swing differently when I get to my four and three iron. Don't understand why, but i know that i do.
Yeah great but how do I drive it 300. great video this winter I really want to improve strike will be using the drills to help thanks for the information really helped me to understand golf a lot more than I did before
Useful video, I generally present too much dynamic loft at impact which is costing me distance, now found a top tracer driving range near me so I can work on this
Really enjoyed the ball striking part of the video , it's something I could be better at among other things. Is the diet/fitness video coming soon it would be interesting to know how you went about it.Cheers Jamie
5 handicapper, struggle with moon balls. I am not good at hitting low shots, arguably my biggest weakness in my game. Would love to see some ideas around controlling the ball when playing in very windy conditions
Let me know below what golf swing basics videos you want more of peoples. 👍👍👍
Green side and fairway bunker basics would be good!!
Craig Hunter love it on it 👍

The swing pane. Does it change throughout the bag?
Short shots to the green from about 80 yds in
This is, hands down, the best single point irons technique video on UA-cam. Thanks Mark.
This new series is some of the strongest content you've ever put out. The on course vlogs will always be my favorites, but these are fantastic.
There was a lot there for golf swing basics. Bloody hell. Golfs hard.
This may be several months old but hands down the best video to get me to think about iron play - more to learn!! Thanks
Cheers Mark. These segments are where you are at your classic best... high golf IQ, Newtonian level instruction matched with actually showing us the magic versus droning on... well done. I really connect with Marks tips, it took me years to understand you have to hit the ball first then the ground. Great video Mark. Thanks.
After this mornings shenanigans, I feel I can fully get on board with this vid! 🙈
Love to see a vid on draw and fade... how much adjustment is actually needed to achieve desired effect. Cheers Bruh!!

Great to see you back teaching, which is how I first came across you on the internet.
Really really good little series this. Think we all carried away and forget the basics when it comes to set up and strike. Enjoying these a lot!!!
Looking forward to getting the clubs back out and working though the basics especially with my long irons . I’m 58 and feel I’m permanently learning and that’s all good.
Love this - GOLF-GURU RETURNS
My irons were my strong suit, struggled with a lot of heavy shots this year. Lessons have been helping, but a few ideas in here I'll certainly be trying. Great serious of videos!
Enjoying this new series.I really struggle with my irons so really need this one
Been playing for 50 years & find it does NO harm going back for a review of the basics every season and especially if your game goes off!👍🏼👍🏼
Wowza! So much information so fast. Love it. My irons have always been a weaker part of my game. One lesson, a very different backswing feel and they are now a weapon. Not automatic yet but getting there. Two under 70 yesterday. Missed only 2 GIR. All because of iron play.

Mark absolutely one of your all time best,Thank You allot to take tp the range
Loving these back to basics videos
love this fast-fire style of video
I will give this a try in the morning during my warmup before my round.
Hi Mark, another great video of the key swing tips. I like the tip with the ball way in front of your feet, as my problem is maintaining a good and consistent follow through. Keep these videos coming and I will always watch them.
Great stuff! this is my 42nd season.... but going back to basics is always key!
Would like to see tips about shots from 60,50,40,30 yards.
Great video!!
Great video. Love the reminders about the stuff we do, or try to do, all the time.
Great timing on this series Bruh! I will practice this on the range today. Keep the ideas coming...
Great video as always. This video really clicked for my . Loved the explanation start to finish. Keep up the great work. Thanks you.
thanks that video was great for me. I'm stricking the ball very well keep up the good work. and I love ur vlogs on the course
hope to see more of them
All of these basic ideas videos have been great, it's always good to just 're calibrate your basics and fundamentals. 👍
Great video, best I've seen for some time. Lots of food for thought and stuff to try on the practice ground 👍🏻👍🏻
I am really enjoying this series. My miss with irons especially as they get shorter is a pull.
Some great little pointers to use as drills there cheers Mark
Good stuff Mark. Even life long players can benefit from this information and the great drills. Off to the range while the info is fresh ...
Love this video. Covers so much. I've been playing for many, many years but I've had very few lessons. Those I have had have been tinkering with the swing I have. I've never really heard the absolute basics; it really makes me think about my swing and try to work out how many of the right things I do and how many I don't.
Great drill about putting the ball past your left foot, I needed this drill 😊
Good stuff Mark I have noticed myself specially when tired hitting fats shots, but they really help in bunker play duff or fat
Great video mark and not to technical. I would like to see your take on a golf swing for a senior golfer we’re full body movements are not achievable. Many thanks Dave.
Thanks for the video Mark, very useful. Will put all that into practice when I can get to the range 👍
As always, great content Mark.......Thanks.
Great video. Love this series. Very helpful.
Wow, very interesting. Can you make a video showing/explaining how an iron interacts with the ground before contact? Something I've never heard before. Great vid as always.
Really enjoying the instruction vids. Thanks!
Love the drill with putting the ball forward of the club. . Will be trying that before I play in morning. Great vid guys xx
Thanks Mark I struggle with 6 and 5 iron inconsistent strike and simpler carry distances thx for the videos
Struggle with mid and long irons so will try these out. Many thanks Mark
Absolutely loving this series of vids, great info and well explained. Keep them coming please.
You've got me wanting to get more creative in both my practice and play - MORE FUN!!! Thanks
So so good. Even after playing for 15 years. These are the fundamentals. That's my next range session sorted. Cheers bruh.
Hi Mark,
I really enjoy the channel and I have learned a lot.
At the moment I am struggling to pure my long irons (4 and 5) and would appreciate a video on this. 👍🏼
Any drills on hitting the centre of the face would be very welcome.
Quite a good reminder to me even as a club member to not concentrate on hit point a, B, c, in my swing and concentrate on strike
Good instruction mark thanks
My irons are the best part of my game, but the woods are catching up!!
Great series Mark, really loving it 👌🏌🏻♂️⛳️
Wedges up to about 8 iron are pretty good. After that it gets dicey. Will try these drills. Thanks.
Great tips Mark. I struggle with topping it and fats, most likely because of my head and upper body moving too much up and down
Maybe a video on some drills that can improve and prevent pushing the ball to the right for a right hand golfer.
Reminds me of old school Crossfield videos. Microphone check...range check
Fantastic check on the basics...I see new practice drills in my future. Well done!
Good advice will be trying those drills out.
Class video as always Mark
This is very good. I've been playing 40 years, but still get a lot of value. A good progression now would be course management. How to take these basics onto a course when you have the pressure of a competition, weather and topography to factor in.
Brilliant video, allot of things for me to think about and add to my game
Great video, thank you Mark. 👍
Think this was my favourite video of yours.
Thanks Mark, good advices for every level of skill.
Great video brush, keep up the good work 👍
Great vid bruh! I've spent all season searching for my backswing fix. Yes I know what it is causing but so bogged down in that I've genuinely not enjoyed my golf all year. Need to free it up and experiment on the range and think about types of shot, not the perfect swing

Nice one! I have been working hard on my irons. This helps!
Great new series! Used to be a really good iron player until my chipping and putting "went wrong" so concentrated practice on them and my iron play suffered and hasn't recovered since lol keep up the good work 👍
Will try some of these things tomorrow, really liking this content as with all of your content it retains its high quality 😊
Very helpful. Thanks again
Great videos. Really like the info from these vids
I’d like to see one on chipping- using the bounce vs hands forward more leading edge!
I have trouble last 2 weeks with soft fairways as aposed to firm fatting now with no fizz and a good bit of gardening so this helps 👍
Yeah great but how do I drive it 300. great video this winter I really want to improve strike will be using the drills to help thanks for the information really helped me to understand golf a lot more than I did before
Keep these iron vids coming bruh
Love it 👌
Great series!
Useful video, I generally present too much dynamic loft at impact which is costing me distance, now found a top tracer driving range near me so I can work on this

As a new golfer is helps a lot cheers
Great 👍
Great video Mark
Great set of videos, my miss is straight right & the odd thinned shot, it used to be a wild pull hook.
Brilliant series Bruh
i have way too many variations myself. Its the stock shot i cant hit though !! But good advice in any case. Thanks
5 handicapper, struggle with moon balls. I am not good at hitting low shots, arguably my biggest weakness in my game. Would love to see some ideas around controlling the ball when playing in very windy conditions
BRILLIANT VIDEO BRUH
Love this!!!
