My witty, or pithy comment for the evening: Mitakuye Oyasin = Lakota for "We Are All Related". Well - all musical scales are related, too! BTW, Jonny Sensei - that last piece you played sounded very exotic, even Middle Eastern, in flavor.
Couldn't make the LIVE Stream so I'm checking in after dinner. Thanks for these Jonny! (Happy Birthday tomorrow!) Love that low drum on the "outro" song.
Great video, Jonny Sensei! Yes, scales are important - but I was kind of wondering if every different teacher of the NASF has a different system of nomenclature for the various scales that are out there. For example, I would call that little minor key melody you were playing in B Minor - it could be either melodic or harmonic minor, because the sixth degree of the scale was not played. The tonal center was in Mode Four - B on an F# flute (bottom two holes open). By the way - that flutist's planner book looked pretty nifty there - like it was chock full of all kinds of good stuff.

Yes, I have colleagues that call these by different names. Those with classical music training also have their own descriptions.
What key flute are you using?
That is a G Minor flute. Thanks for watching!
