Ollie, you don't over engineer things, you make them to last! That makes a change these days, shows someone who does care about his customers. Well done as always, love the work you do, the way you do it, and the forethought that goes into the builds. Look forward to the next project. Best wishes.
It's nice to see someone take a original design and make it much better. I do that all the time with some of the stuff I work on. Great job Mr. Snowball.
Nice work. I wish you would do a special episode some time to show us your dad’s farming operation. Equipment, building layout, animals?, etc. I think it’d be quite interesting.
Criminals don't need information on what equipment farms have its an unfortunate fact in this day and age. I agree it would be nice too see if it wasn't a risk in showing
Absolutely brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed both parts. The way you take the viewer along with the thought process and the warts and all content. It makes you feel a bit like you are joining in with the video. That trailer is now mega strong and well thought out. Fingers crossed there are future sponsors also watching. With the right equipment I don't think there is much you couldn't make out of metal.
Right proper job, Ollie. Nice to see someone working with their Dad. I did many things with my son's before they went military but hope to be there again soon. The time I spent with my Dad is priceless to me. Keeping bees and processing and selling honey and of course lots of carpentry are good memories
Morning! Greetings from Bad Münder. At first I didn't see any reason the curve cuts on the tongue, but when I saw the results it was clear that the bends were intact and therefore stronger. I like the gussets on the sides! Badass! And they look good too! Nice work! I betting dad is very pleased... Nice sunny day here and not too bad over the UK.
Plenty going on this week, running repairs on the trusty forklift. All the work you do looks neat and well thought out. Working out any weak spots and making them stronger. Closing any cavities off keeps the muck out and any major rust areas. Thanks for sharing this interesting re build. Brian from South Yorkshire
Nifty way to score steel with plasma. Oliver, I meant to mention, for heavy duty farm applications, make a point to haunt the metal recyclers and especially railroad yards and what they do with retired rails. There isn't an I beam made that can get close to the strength and durability of a chunk of track. They also make great counterweights and load distribution; about 50-55 kg per foot. I had a side by side pair for front and rear bumpers on my 6WD artillery support vehicle. There isn't a souped up 4WD made that could compete with that industrial Cummins powered monster and the train tracks lowered the CofG to sideways tip over around 45 degrees.
Well I got to say thanks for a part 2 it was really enjoyable. Great to see dad getting involved as much as you are . Great use of the plasma table and bender making the plate work for supporting the framework and that little jasic welder has earnt a good review . Trailer now looks like it's been purpose build not cobbled together on a farm from bits left over . Thanks Oliver .
Watching you working with you dad reminds me of my childhood working in the woodshop with mine. In America too often you see boys growing up without dads, but it seems like you have a fine one.
Looks really good Ollie, nice to see you and your dad working together. Looking forward to seeing it all finished and in action, for extra weight on the fork lift, you could always make a fitting like you did for that tractor, however not sure how it's going to fit. Not only a master fabricator and welder, but a mechanic as well. 👍
Fantastic job, Oliver, as always. One day, I will as good a fabricator / welder as you are !, until then I will carry on watching and learning. Thanks for the videos. (By the way, I’m 55 and only been trying for less than a year !).
Nice job on the trailer for you dad. Glad you got the forklift starter going. And the trailer looks good for something pieced together with whatever you had lying around.
I was looking at the box section thinking wow that looks a little small for the job, then you stood next to it properly and the proportions were obvious. Nice job man glad you did part 2
Excellent engineering, fantastic fabrication and wonderful welding! It is such a pleasure to see everything done correctly. Thanks so much, Oliver. Hope you are having a peaceful Sunday.
Great video and content. Today people think everything is disposable because that’s what we’re made to think, but breaking the starter down to its basic parts and reusing and repurposing was refreshing nice to see. Farmers don’t get the credit on what it takes to exist. If you can’t keep the old stuff running, you can’t make a profit. Kudos to both Dad and Son!
I love how you've learnt how brackets and reinforcement plates fail and make all of you're repairs better then the companies that fabricated the original....... whatever it is you've been asked to fix. (I know it doesn't 100% apply to a home made trailer, but I think it's still valid) That reinforcement bracket at the front of the draw bar is a perfect example of an elegantly designed part that is probably going to outlive the rest of the trailer. Keep up the great work 😊👍👍👍👍👍
Hyster out of service emergency...All hands on deck. The most important piece of equipment in the works. I like the way you think about radii when welding across tube sections and stiffening gusset design. Good practice in my book. Dad and you seem to make a good team, well done lads. .
GREAT Video Greal Channel . Its fantastic to watch you & your Dad working together. I am 59yo unfortionatly my Son lives in another state of Australia. So not able to. Enjoy that quality time together. Great job like usual. Regards Andy Perth Australia
Another great video Ollie. Nice to see the daily struggles added in also. It's never as easy as some would have you think, we all get thrown these little gems that cost a day and a few pennies. Keep at it fella and looking forward to seeing this trailer in action. 👊
Correcting an original design shortfall while improving the maximum capacities to make a piece of machinery/equipment more versatile and capable, what's not to like! Nice job of original design for the modifications and not rushing to achieve a solid advance. Ray Stormont
Can you imagine what a crime it would have been, just to limit the exposure of your excellent refurbishment to just your family, thankfully, everyone on UA-cam can enjoy the process and the final assembly to what is quite literally a work of art.
Great work young Sir! Hopefully you will soon have a a useable trailer that will not catch on the tractor tyres, or sink in soft ground and will serve you well for many years to come.
It will look good when it’s painted and the best welds are the ones you won’t see, are the normal refrain from site welders all over the world. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Your work is excellent.
A great video once again Oliver. That has certainly given that trailer a new lease of life and it looks a sturdier job than the original spec. As a non welder, but really interested to see how it is done, can you explain why you don’t continue welds around the corners and why you stop before the end. I know you aren’t giving welding lessons but for someone like me I’m always interested to learn. Thanks again from Rutland, and for taking the time to film, edit and post your videos.
Impressive series, many thanks for doing part 2. A proper solid build... Looking forward to seeing the straw trailer in action bringing in the bails after it's completed.
Fabulous series, Oliver! It’s such a pleasure to see engineering and process laid out the way you do it. The result is absolutely professional; you are a genuine craftsman. Well done on the concepts, tool use and end result. Your jobs are a clear example of the benefit of understanding end use of the products - you’re much better able to apply good, simple design techniques that yield outstanding results for the customers.
It’s obvious by watching your Dad both in the main frame video and him in the background where you get your work ethic, he never stops always doing something including sweeping up some gran . It’s wonderful to see you guys working together. The trailer is coming along nicely and going to be “ better than before and fit for purpose “!
Hi Oliver and dad, great job guys, super strong fabrication, and a nice green paint job. The little welder did fine , no worries there, thanks for another interesting video, stay safe, best wishe's to all, Stuart Uk.
Wow, glad to find your channel. Impressed with your skills on filming, editing, and metal design. I was glued the whole video, didn't even realize it was part 2. Thank you from Reno, Nevada. Don Barnes.
Over engineered? Nah, it will only outlive me and you and anyone born today. Do it once, do it right 💪 Nice long video to brighten up a rather rainy Sunday morning.
This was great to see the extra reinforcements you fitted do make sense once you put the trailer on the ground ready to use and seeing the draw bar made designed and fitted makes a complete project series great viewing.
Oliver, "as good as new" doesn't apply to your jobs. It's always "better than new" 👍
True that 👍
As Tom (oxtool) Lipton is known to say " nothing too strong ever broke"

Trabajo perfecto 👌

Great job on the trailer. Like how you boxed in supports for axle and drawbar. Dad has some skills with the JCB ! Be Safe!
That was fascinating, I like how you talked through what you are going to do before you do it.
Great to see a project to the end, you and your dad working well together getting the job done. Fantastic Oliver and Oliver's dad.

VERY NICE, Mr Snowball! Overkill on strength? Yes probably. Overkill on design? YES defenitely!! Lovely, I must say.
Nifty way to score steel with plasma.

A very elegant job on that tapered drawbar.
Over engineered is a great phrase for this project Oliver 👍 and the paint colour your dad used is almost racing green !
*Oliver-Engineered
My goodness Oli, that drawbar is strong!! Very well done mate.

Yet again a nice job, your dad's a lucky man to have someone around with your skills.

Hi Ollie, excellent work. Brilliant welder/fabricator. That trailer must now be worth a fortune. You probably couldn't buy one that good!!!!!!!
Nice improvment of the old trailer !!
Definitely worth a Part 2. Great job!
What a credit you are to the farm and to your family well done I hope your business snowball..

Wow, Ollie, that turned into one beautiful trailer. Gobs of welding and engineering. Awesome job. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
Thank You Oliver and Dad. A job very well done. Thank you for the part 2.
Very good videos Oliver. A very good build for sure. You can tell that your Dad has complete faith in you, and rightly so. See you in your next video.

Really enjoyed trailer refurb part 1 and 2.
You and your dad have made a farm built trailer to be proud of. 👍

Great video as always, my Sunday morning indulgence!
Hope the people on the farm appreciate your excellent workmanship.
This lad never fails to impress, improvise, overcome, improve, I could bang on all day, Top man
Great video 👍 The slight bow of the trailer hitch beam is a good outcome as it has a built in spring same as a truck trailer 😊
