Many thanks for the vid. Clear and informative and exactly what I needed to see for my TJ brake/reverse light install. Nice rig -love the flares/tire/wheel/lift combo. Take care, man!
Thanks for the feedback, Ron! I got my lights yesterday and will be getting to it sometime this week. Any issues with rust or condensation, as I've heard others mention? Really appreciate all the help!
Thanks for the video. How are you liking the reverse lights? Are they bright enough? I have a TJ, thinking of running a similar setup, but as with most hard tops, mine has a dark tint and I want to ensure the lights are bright enough to really help. Let me know.
Thanks! Actually, the reverse lights are incredibly bright. I would say they are 300-400% brighter than stock backup lights. My buddy was shocked at the brightness. I would say go for it. They are very inexpensive. Good luck!
Awesome!! I just picked up rear corner guards with 4" holes for LEDs. Do you know if the same relay is used for a 97 TJ? I actually tore the Jeep completely apart (frame up restoration). I don't remember seeing a relay in the location you showed.
evildoctor1 That's a control for the throttle. I use it mainly to maintain revs when I'm using the winch. It can also be used when you are in a tricky situation and need a foot on the break and the other on the clutch. It's called a hand throttle. Hope that helps!
We did this install on my 2002 wrangler and ive run into an odd problem. The lights function properly with the headlights off. The brake lights turn on when the pedal is pushed. However, with the headlights on the brake lights dont work. They stay lit as running lights but do not get brighter when the brake pedal is pressed. Do you know what may be causing this problem?
It's a bike gear shifter that I use as a hand throttle. It's connected to the throttle body, so when my feet are on the clutch and the brake, I can use my hand to increase the throttle.
Clay Godbee I ran a wire to the tub. That acts as ground. I hooked up the ground wire from both lights to this ground. Anywhere on the tub should be fine.
I'm about to do this upgrade to a 2001 TJ. I seen online that you can use resistors on your wiring instead replacing the flasher relay on the steering column. The relay seems quicker and easier, but does it affect the front flashers if your still stock in the front? Old incandescent bulbs?

Some reviews says it works in a TJ and some say it didn't and did work with the stock lights as well. I have not look at mine yet but I thought the stock relay had 5 pins. Also watched your video 3 times now never see you show the light wiring for the tag plate? Nice job on the led conversion, 💪💪
That looks right! The tag plate light is an extra wire that is just on the driver side. Ground to the tub and hook to the extra wire in the harness on that side.
Ron Kroetz Got the light install done, very happy with the way it all turned out. If your on face book join Wrangler World I posted pics on that page. My TJ didn't have a separate light for the tag, it was illuminated by the driver side tail light the bottom of the light housing was clear only the driver side so the light also shined down onto the tag. The EP 26 relay did work with the stock lights in the front too. Thanks for the video your wiring was spot on took the trouble shooting out of the install, Thanks.
Mark Miller That's awesome! I added a small led light from the auto parts store to light my plate. It's cheap, so, if I break it off on a rock, it's no big deal.
Your wiring explanation was EXACTLY what I needed, thank you!!
No worries! Glad it helped you out.
This video saved me lol I was about to burn it all down grounding the black over and over 😂
Looks great, especially like the reverse led. Seems super bright for such a small light.

Glad it helped and thanks for the kind words!
I’m alittle impressed. I’ll have to do the upgrade on mine
It's a great upgrade and I love it!
Nice upgrades. Personally I like the OG tail lights. I might upgrade to the OG LEDS.
OG light are cool too. I chose these so that I wouldn't bust them up as easily on the trail.
Rookie Pro Tip: Never use sheet metal screws on a Jeep if possible. Rust Rust Rust. Use stainless or aluminum where you can, and a nut.
Thanks for the feedback, Ron! I got my lights yesterday and will be getting to it sometime this week. Any issues with rust or condensation, as I've heard others mention? Really appreciate all the help!
Nothing yet. Everything has been solid.
Thought someone was playing last of us for a second with that music

Where and do you have an item #?

Yes, the relay should be there somewhere in the circuit. Probably stuffed around the steering column.
Great info. as I will be doing the same at some point. I'm curious on the what it appears to be a bicycle shifter on your shifter?

Ron Kroetz , thanks for the quick response. I'll be following your progress of your Jeep. Thanks again
They look a little off i think the driver side one is lower! Its really bugging me lol

Kaila Boyd I'm going to have to think about that one.
Ron Kroetz Thank you! Any input would be appreciated. I tried switching the headlight switch and it didnt seem to help
Question: I saw that you have something attached to your stick shift. What is that and where can I get one? Looks like a hand brake?

@@RonKroetz Thanks Ron, I knew there had to be some way to climb steep hills with a stick shift. Lol
@@mo-reesespieces9066 absolutely! We figure it out! 😂
for those reverse lights you put in did you hook up both the red and black wires to the factory purple/ black?
Clay Godbee, the led red goes to the purple black wire, the black goes to ground
Ron Kroetz how did you ground them? like where at ?
Clay Godbee I ran a wire to the tub. That acts as ground. I hooked up the ground wire from both lights to this ground. Anywhere on the tub should be fine.
Ron Kroetz alright awesome, I love this setup just wanna get it right
Clay Godbee Good luck and let me know how it turns out!
this should work for a 2004 right?
Mason Canner Should be exactly the same. Good luck!
thank you!
When you ordered them, did it come with 2 tail lights the set or do you have to actually get 2 of them?
When I ordered, I ordered 2. Not a set.
Alright thanks, just put my order in!

Mark Miller I believe that it would. I would use the resistor for the leds until you upgrade the fronts as well. Then use the new relay.

What are the small button lights above the new LEDs?
Those are the reverse lights.
What size hole saw did you use?
I believe I used a 4.5" hole saw. A 4" my work if you grind a little bit.
What size hole saw did you use? I’m trying to figure it out now
4.5 inches, I believe.
I had a 4 1/2 but it didn’t seem to fit right looked like I needed just a slightly bigger one
What size are the lights? And what size is the hole saw???
Hole saw is 4.5 inches. Lights are about 5 and 3/4
Will the EP26 work for a 2001 wrangler....On ebay is says it wont?? Thanks
Summit dave Yes, it should without any issues.
Thanks
WRONG... USE LM470
What about a 2003?
What fenders are those???? I need some bad

Can you add the links to the lights you used?
They're in the description above.
Do you have the license plate light wired to?
Mark Cli yes
Ron Kroetz Sweet! Where did you mount yours at?
Oh, i just rewatched the film. I see how you did it. Thanks for the reply.
I bought the cheap led license plate light from Autozone. I mounted it to the left of the tail light just off center on the license plate.
What size lift do you have on this jeep ?
doggielover123123 It's a 3 inch zone lift with a 1 1/4 inch body lift.
Ron Kroetz how big is your engine? & what trans do you have?
doggielover123123 Stock trans. Ford 8.8 rear axle, tummy tuck, slip yolk eliminated
Forgot the engine. I'm running the stock 4.0l 6 cylinder.
Could not bring myself to cut a hole in my pristine 98.
I hear ya. Gotta be comfortable before you do it!
