I have the new trailer and it's been perfect for hauling groceries and large items. I never had the older version so this updated trailer is perfect for me. Great review. Thank you.
One problem with this trailer I haven’t seen mentioned much is the weird place they chose for their rear light. When the upper part of the tow arm is horizontal (as it’s supposed to be while in use), the light is perfectly obscured by the “fork” and the twist handle behind it, as long as one’s eye is at about the same level as the light is. Some secondary reflections may pass over the handle but I wouldn’t trust it with my life. The light itself is very nice and simple through. I just need to find a simple way to rise it some 5cm higher that doesn’t interfere with the trailer when folded.
Around corners I drive more careful because of the higher point of gravity it can tipple over but esp. if it get cought on a curb. But if you stay away from such obstacles usually no problem at all, it is very flexible.

hi. thx for video I have a question - I have have Mate X (modified heavily) and I could attach this trailer under my saddle just about 73cm/29inches above ground. is it possible?
@@bernhardreviews Hi, Thank you for reply. What I meant is that my mate is very low, my sit is very low, it is more like chopper bike where my feet touch the ground while I'm sitting (perfect solution for Icelandic ice paths, and cool look) so I have to mount trailer pretty low on my post. My concern is that it may put to much strain on the upper joint of trailer as the angle change drastically. I'm not intend to tow anything heavier than 10kg thou
@@comaenzo hey ok I understand, before I went to my bike and measured and thought it should work... important is that you have actually space on the seatpost, i.e. it is not all the way in (like in the video with the bike of my gf)... but I think the mate has a pretty low frame already so this is not the problem... to really see if it works I would actually need to mount it with the height 73cm and see... I will try to do it later and then come back to you!
@@comaenzo Hey mate, I tried to hold it in the height that you specified. It will not be parallel to the ground but I think it is still ok. If it is much lower it also gets difficult to get it out of the hitch (because of the angle, you can see in my video I think), but with the height you gave it was ok. Here I put two images I hope you can see the links: www.bernhardherzog.com/resources/20211221_211305.jpg www.bernhardherzog.com/resources/20211221_211352.jpg
Is it not very expensive? One can buy a Woolfcraft trolley for 85 E that can load 100kg and weighs 5.5 kg , remains how to attach it in a good way but that cannot be too difficult.
this is exactly the point, you need a hitch that is safe to use and don't have an accident when you go around a corner or catch the curb with a wheel etc. You don't want to have a trolley that decides to go his own way when you are in the middle of traffic... there are cheaper trolleys also with a hitch for bikes but you have to be much more careful... well you still have to be careful with the Travoy but it is kind of reliable, also the material is very strong!
My Travoy and Dahon 20 Flips every mile, all loads tiny bumps. Not on my 622 wheeled bike. The trailer has a quirky geometry. Some bikes don't work well with it D rings for attaching your own bags and straps are easy to find. A small triangle of Coroplast makes a good fender, to keep the wheel from rubbing. Find girlfriend with longer legs who can sew and life will get better.
hahahaha lol yes ok thank you I will tell her... actually I 3d printed fenders already but cannot fold anymore but I am happy it is ok more or less now (here is how it looks like: www.bernhardherzog.com/2019/04/26/burley-travoy-im-test-als-fahrradanhanger-mein-sup/#Meine_neue_Losung_Stand_August_2020 ). Will also print D rings maybe sooner or later. Many girls have short legs this why I mentioned it in my review... my trailer flipped again recently I have to drive more careful I guess.
I wouldn't bother printing Drings. They are cheaper by the bag from China than than is materials to print. They just have to fit over the anchors. It is a bummer that Burley messed with the bags. Sew a flat strap to the one they ship with and recover its function. Making your own straps is easy and you get just what you need. Sewing is better than meditation, too. The Travoy is a $150 trailer that tries to sell you $500 worth of accessories. Good at what it does, just limited. Your fenders are gorgeous, but coroplast and zip ties have that ghetto elegance that is hard to beat at their price point and the web strap that Burley added makes them work well. You can even match your colors, depending who is running for office when you recycle their sign. You don't want to rub on your iSUP. The seat height issue also affects trailer suspension geometry, and with its narrow wheel base makes its tendency to flip worse when bounced.
@@whazzat8015 the coroplast I think I have seen it on amazon.com review maybe it was you (I think the review is not online anymore because the old trailer version is no more) ;-) but thanks for the tips it is one possibility that's for sure... @@whazzat8015 In over ten years of not worrying about the trailer I have flipped it maybe three times. Not sure why that is happening to you. I love this trailer.
@@gary7vn They are sensitive to bike geometry. Overly so. My 700C road bikes: no Prob rare flip, predictable, mostly curbs. 20" foldies: horrid,Lateral seat post motion is greater and position of trailer CG+narrow wheelbase means slightest bump at right time flips. A bit better with new hitch. It's all in the geometry. Some combos are just horrid. This is not something he end user should have to figure out at this price point.
I have the older one too and just bought a new ebike with an integral rack. I was going to buy the rack mount, but I am rethinking as charging $39 Cd for two pieces of aluminum with 6 screw holes in it amounts to theft. I am going to write Travoy about that too.

Hey mate, thank you for the very specific feedback this is highly appreciated (I had to laugh esp. my hair)! I am sorry someone else was also complaining I wrote the script for this video in German (did the German version video first) and then kind of translated it on the fly (while recording the video), I should have done it the other way round (my english is usually not as bad as in this video). I will tell my girlfriend Patricia she will like your comment... I am very thankful for her help because I know it is not always easy with me because I have very high standards for my videos ;-) This video was lots of work esp. buying the trailer and sending it back (not sponsored) but I know with the language I will have to put in more effort but I was on a tight schedule because I could keep the trailer just for a short period because I had to send it back (I also wanted to make more scenes outside but I could not make the trailer too much dirty or break it because I maybe would not get the money back from the shop hehehe)
Hey my friend you can turn on the subtitles maybe then it is better understandable for you. Are you a native English speaker? Because until now only non-native speakers were complaining ;-) If you have any question about the content of the video or about the trailer please don't hesitate, I will try to answer here immediately.
Completely unimpressed by the English pronunciation, you stumble through the foreign language vocabulary here. This is almost unbearable and extremely incomprehensible, so why in English?
Hey my friend I am sorry I already explained somewhere that I have written the script for this video in German and translated on the fly while recording, this is why it is not perfect (it is not easy to translate a language on the fly). I hope you still appreciate my efforts: This is not a sponsored review. It was a crazy amount of work for me because I had to order the product and then send it back soon after so I had very little time to do so the review. That's why I had no time to write a proper script in English. But I can assure you for my future videos I will make a separate script for English version and I also hope that I will have more time then. Also I do English versions to help more people, I get almost nothing back for this video in monetary terms but still this is my most successful video I ever made (maybe because of that, because it is really honest). So it cannot be so bad as you write but of course I respect your opinion. Just so you know, this video had 100 likes without a dislike for some time, and it is ranked number 1 for lots of keywords. So I am still happy that I did it because this is what counts for me in the end, that I was able to help a lot of people and educate them on a product that I think is really valuable. You know I had many doubts for example if should really do this, like ordering a product just to send it back, make two videos in separate languages, make something without getting much support from the manufacturer, etc. etc. But I am happy that I did not hear to these voices and went through with it, there are so many naysayers and my inner one is one of the biggest. If you have read this until hear I thank you for your time, again of course I totally respect your opinion and I will work hard every time so that I am better to understand. Thank you

best review I have found, so far.
Don't take the comments from asshats in consideration. They do typify a specific privilege and exceptionalism. Most people do not realize the English language first came from the Germanic languages.
For myself, I find that peoples' accents help me with learning pronunciation of the language, that the accent is from.
asshat - a superfluous and unattractive piece of clothing, hence an appropriate metaphor.
PS have you a chance to try hinterher trolleys?
hey thanks appreciate it no sorry I have not tried yet but I will check it out, maybe I can test it sooner or later... it looks interesting
Hallo wo did you get the bike rack you have on d4s? Thanks in advance
hey mate you should be able to grab it from Decathlon (UK for example). Here are all the details: bernhardherzog.com/2020/11/10/fiido-d4s-foldable-e-bike-review/#Updates
POXA VIDA TENHO MUITA VONTADE DE TER UM DESSES
hi. thx for video
I have a question - I have have Mate X (modified heavily) and I could attach this trailer under my saddle just about 73cm/29inches above ground. is it possible?
hey great, mate is an awesome bike
I think it should work, but the arm will not be completely parallel to the ground
@@bernhardreviews
Hi,
Thank you for reply.
@@bernhardreviews
That is more than I could expect. Thank you very much
@@comaenzo Hey mate, I tried to hold it in the height that you specified. It will not be parallel to the ground but I think it is still ok. If it is much lower it also gets difficult to get it out of the hitch (because of the angle, you can see in my video I think), but with the height you gave it was ok. Here I put two images I hope you can see the links:

@@bernhardreviews$250 for a hitch?
Do it then and post the results. The Burley is well worth the money. Your kludge can never even come close.
@@larsroth826 You think your plan is superiour, build it, show us. You won't.
My Travoy and Dahon 20 Flips every mile, all loads tiny bumps. Not on my 622 wheeled bike.
The trailer has a quirky geometry. Some bikes don't work well with it
D rings for attaching your own bags and straps are easy to find.
I am only just getting started with DIY it is something that is very interesting for me of course but I still have not much knowledge esp. comparing myself to people that have some background in product design it surprises me what is possible... like your writing very funny hehehe will try sewing if it is like meditation

I have the older version and use a rack mount. www.burley.com/product/travoy-rack-mount/
Are you happy with it? Is it stable also with heavier loads? Can you still use the bike rack?
I have the older one too and just bought a new ebike with an integral rack. I was going to buy the rack mount, but I am rethinking as charging $39 Cd for two pieces of aluminum with 6 screw holes in it amounts to theft. I am going to write Travoy about that too.
@@gary7vn I swallowed the cost.. My seat post is too short (not a folding bike).
@@bernhardreviews I can still use my ancient panniers from the mid 1990s. I don't overload it (stay within 60 pounds and load heavier on the bottom). I haven't taken it off road, for real, but I have taken it on footpaths made by feet.
Sehr gute, detaillierte Bewertung. Alles Wichtige wurde besprochen. Super!
Your accent is hilarious! That's why I watched the video, although the content was quite good. Please get a haircut, introduce your girlfriend (assuming she has a name) and ask her not to let her hair fall in front and cover the item she is 'demonstrating'.
You must be a Yankee. How are things in the Eyerack and the Eyeran today?
Could someone please translate to English?
Hey my friend you can turn on the subtitles maybe then it is better understandable for you. Are you a native English speaker? Because until now only non-native speakers were complaining ;-) If you have any question about the content of the video or about the trailer please don't hesitate, I will try to answer here immediately.
Kannst du eine andere Sprache als Englisch sprechen? Nein. Habe ich mir gedacht.
Thank you
BTW if you speak German the version is here: ua-cam.com/video/-68Khi0rTE0/v-deo.html
