She's my favourite character. People should appreciate her arc more. Regardless of what side you are on, the greens or the blacks, you can never dare say she's not one of the best written characters in the show, if not the best.
She’s SO well written, and that’s saying a lot in a show where every single character is very well written. But there’s just something about the adult version of Alicent that’s very captivating and also makes the show more interesting to watch.. maybe because there was no real “villain” before. Her whole story arc kind of reminds me of Anne Boleyn as well, which for some reason makes her even more relatable 🥲
I respect your opinion but in my opinion Alicent, Rhaenyra and Daemon are being written very poorly in the series I prefer them in the book than in the series
She’s very admirable. She’s dutiful and faithful to her family. A servant to her sick husband. And a good mother. She’s merciful and clement as well. Very inspiring.
She's flawed, she's complex, and she's an amazing character. Despite the inherent sympathy I felt for Rhaenyra (especially as a book reader), in the end, I side with Alicent and the Greens. When Alicent said, "You flout all to do as you please", it came from a place of honesty and genuine concern. Everything Alicent had done was out of duty, the protection of her children and family, upholding the integrity of the realm, and that specific quote really made me think: "Did Rhaenyra do anything to solidify her claim and prove that she's worthy since the day she was declared heir?". And I have to say, not really, if at all. Rhaenyra, despite being a sympathetic character, has not played her cards right and doesn't recognize her actions have consequences because she feels entitled to the throne because everything has always come relatively easy to her (not that it makes her a "bad" person).
I initially wanted her to be more evil like in the books but damn... the show really surprised me with how they handled her and made her more of a tragic figure. Great job with the edit btw! 💚
@@FunFilmFare Yeah I can completely see certain events making her sterner and taking away any sympathy she may have had for Rhaenyra... we'll see though!
I still can't understand why people hate her, maybe she was worse in books? So far she's just a good person trying her best. She felt horrible for the girl her son assaulted and what I was expecting was she'll give her poison, to silence her. Which she didn't and was genuinely dissapointed in him.
and because in the books she is worse, the books don't delve into her youth (except that she was the caretaker of the former king jaehaerys and read to him while he confused her with his daughter saera until his death), and this friendship with the princess rhaenyra is a series thing, it just says that they got along well as stepmother and stepdaughter until aegon was born and king viserys didn't change his succession to the throne, and alicent was 9 years older than rhaenyra since alicent was 18 when she married and rhaenyra was 8 when this happens, and she is described as beautiful and ambitious.
Because she's a greedy, self righteous victim. Deep inside her jealousy and desire for power from both her and her father. Will cost everything, the way she treats Aegon, the house targeryen greatness, her children and the Rhaenerya's children. She is a complex well written character, I hate her , I hate what she let her father do to her, but I admire her as well, sometimes you can still see kindness in her. Rhaenerya and Alicent are very alike is a shame what will happen from now on. But guess is what happens when you try to take something doesn't belong to you.
@@lucyheartifilia788 How dare you? A self claimed fan of Lucy Heartfilia, throw shade and hate towards Alicent Hightower, which is pretty similiar to our beloved Lucy, Shame on you.
@@hugomartinez2387 we are a human beings, we can be conflicted about characters, that's the magic of a well written character, the author already stated that he likes the dinamic between good and evil inside of us and how he projects this dinamic in his characters. An honestly I think is fair, you can relate which I said I did. But you can also condemn their actions, in which I do as well. For me Lucy and Alicent are not alike ( this is my point of view). Alicent undoubtedly will have what she deserves, in my opinion, people can only do things with you, if allows them to. But I can't deny she have some good rooted in her ( this is why even if you don't like you can't look away) unlike her father. Personally I don't think I'm throwing hate or shade, but you are entitled to have your own opinion as well.
@@lucyheartifilia788 I like your consciousness and resspect, shows you are a really educated person, in what concerns Lucy and Alicent, both suffered a lot in their own shows, and had been putten through a lot alone, and they both protect who they love, thats why they are similiar. Alicent deserves nothing but goodness for staying in her beliefes, religion and moral behaviours, while Rhaenyra f*cked her uncle and committed adultery, showing her depravation.
the more i watch, the more i understand her (although i still emphasize more with Rhaenyra) but i believe that Otto hightower’s manipulation of alicent is pretty much the sole reason she did more of the things she did throughout the series. alicent was pushed into becoming queen, pushed into trying to make aegon heir, and pushed into doing things because she believed that she had to protect the only family she had
Even if Alicent doubted that Rhaenyra was ruthless enough to kill her children to secure her place on the throne, there could be no doubt that her husband Daemon possessed that degree of ruthlessness.
I love the moment where Rhaenyra stops Alicent with the blade, and she gives her this deep glimps into eyes, you can tell that despite having her right in front of her eyes Rhaenyra doesn't recognize her, ( What happened? Where is my deerest friend?) "You've gone to far" is last call from Rhaenyra, which you can see reached home. Alicent shutter "I... What have I done, but what was expected of me" she realized in that moment she indeed gone too far but she couldn't drop the blade, it was attempt to keep her sanity, the order she lived in, as the dutyful woman, the idea she lived in, shatered completly. But truly breaking point was Rhaenyra telling her that this madness, is what she truly is, what she have always been.
Ahhh such a beautiful & moving edit for Alicent! Really shows just how much she’s been going through & still has so many layers left to explore! Amazingly made! 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
I'm a huge fan of Lady/Queen Alicent, still team Blacks, but just goes to show the excellent casting, acting and general set-up. Great television know great charatcers.
She's such a good character. I just love her personality so much. Also beautiful version of Running Up That Hill. Her character development is amazing. Can't wait for season 2. Both actresses have done a wonderful job of bringing her alive on the screen. Thank you for this lovely tribute. This show has surpassed my every expectations it's so incredible. So many chilling and epic moments in it. The writing is much better than it was in GOT in my opinion.
Well, about Alicent I have double feelings... but that doesn't mean that your video are not good or something like that. No, your video is so beautiful! I should say thanks for it!
I dont hate Alicent, originally she was Rhaenyras best friend and they had a beautiful relationship , even if the circumstances separated them both women remembered that they were friends , Alicent didnt want to be against her
I’m team black and sometimes I like her as a character however I just cannot stand her hypocrisy. I don’t care about the gender and the times everything she says is a contridiction to herself.
