Somehow I love Madison a lot more in Coven than Apocalypse, she's more grounded, nuanced and authentic this season. She has pain, broken dreams, a sad and all too believable backstory, her own needs and desires. Apocalypse Madison is like the one-liner, meme version of Madison, no disrespect to Emma, she crushes this role, Ryan just fucked the writing on the later seasons.

With Apocalypse she was a much smaller role and part. They had too much story to tell and since people already knew her. Why waste time developing her story more than it had to to fit the current one.
