Ed was one of my hero’s at age 13, then later we met and became lifelong friends, I was the auctioneer at the So Cal Rat Fink Reunion for eleven years.It was for the Shriner’s Burn Center for Kids, Ed used to offer me money for gas and lodging ,but I always refused. It was a great personal loss for me when he passed, to see this video made me teary- eyed…
I think this the first time I heard his voice. I put together his Mysterion kit in the 80's and won a trophy for it. Still have some unbuilt kits. And Ive got a great full color RatFink on my leg. If you love this guy - you gotta subscribe to CARtoons magazine !!! YES they are back in print with regular features like The new adventures of RatFink done really well & Nitro Billy & R.I.P. & of course Krass & Bernie !!!!!
Who'da thought yellow would look good... I built it too back in the day, then got another kit of it (in the metal box) and remade it. A delicate model! This time finding the right yellow not as easy... and this time, no tv in the kit!

I have the same "fued" (Roth vs. Mouse) with another striper, I'm Roth, he's Mouse ( he can draw better, but, no one cares...lol)
I bought a shirt from Roth in 64 in Detroit when I was 8, I wore it til it fell off. Him and Dutch were American Renaissance men, among some others. Seminal American creator.
I started pinstriping because of him, von dutch and Kafka. I wouldn't be me if they weren't my influences.

I got the distinct feeling that maybe Ed Roth’s art style was influenced by Tex Avery’s cartoons with the bulging eyes, funny looking teeth, and overall exaggeration.
I would have loved to sit and had a few beers with him.
