    This feels like such a kind gesture, taking animals that are normally thought of as pests and making room for them in your animal room in a positive and mindful way.

      @@SerpaDesign kudos btw for your pronounciation of süßwassertang from a german viewer. it's almost there :) well and it's a prime example how we germans are the masters of compound words lol. süßwasser is just the german name for fresh water and literally means sweet water. salzwasser is ofc salt water. and tang is just our term for the type of algae.
      i always feel like english speakers tend to just ignore our äöü and pronounce them like aou. but you nail the ü.

    I've never heard of scuds but they're just tiny friends!!! I love that you have scapes for the smallest animals like millipedes, shrimp, and now scuds!

      As always - I love what you do!!! One question to this one, though: How do they get O2? Does the Süsswassertang produce enough of it for the inhabitants? I would have thought more plants necessary? Or do you regulate this via waterchanges?

    If you decant the flourite run off, you can make a really nice "clay" substrate. You can also use it to culture springtails with.

    I really like the red/brown colour of this whole scape, and the trumpet snails match it too. Very cool little setup. I love small vase/bottle setups.

    Ive been following you for months now, I am so inspired. My ecosphere was my first and most stable system. I wish I could send you a picture im so happy with it. Its basically a pond in a jar! Scuds, tubefix worms, microorganisms, "pest" snails, and two tiny ram's horns...Lilly and Lighla 😊

    What a terrific idea. I just have mine in a ten gallon tote with a heater and a sponge filter. I know that they like eating Hornwort, a floating plant, or any floating plants. I put in a spinach leaf once in a while for them. Great tutorial. Short and to the point.

    Interesting, those look EXACTLY like the marine amphipods in my reef tank. I never knew they had them in FW tanks.

      Yeah these are freshwater amphipods, scuds are just their common name. We also got copepods and ostracods and daphnia and stuff. One of my favorite things about freshwater aquariums is making a mini ecosystem with all these zooplankton and what not, and using plants and stuff to make it easier so I only gotta do a water change once every like 6 months

    Great job as always, Tanner. I've watched other ecosphere vids but this is the first where the variety of fauna was intentional. Other folks collect material from a spot and wait to see what lives in their container. You picked all the elements so this is a different take on ecospheres. It looks good!

    I love this one. I think scuds are fascinating to watch, I used to have a tank with just scuds and snails in it. Pulling your head out of the pot was great too. 😂

    This is the most beautiful ecosphere I have ever seen. The dark brown botanicals look great with the branchy subwassertang and the scuds are so cute. I love how you make beautiful little homes for any tiny creature that pops up with your fish. I am looking forward to seeing a mini Tanner in all of the videos asking for you to like and subscribe!
    Edit: A long form relaxing video of the scuds would be awesome. You should try making something for water fleas.

    What a beautiful build, Tanner! I love how simple this is--it feels like something that a lot of us inexperienced people could do fairly easily. :p I also really appreciate your commentary style--you speak slowly and clearly, so it's easy to understand what you're saying. I have a hard time processing audio, especially speech, and you're one of the few channels I can consistently watch even though there aren't any subtitles. Keep it up! I'm always excited for Saturdays.

    Great video I always love coming to your channel because there is always something new going on and it’s quite soothing to watch you design. One thing I think could be useful is maybe how you plan to do maintenance or upkeep on whatever tank you are creating. It was just something that came to mind. Keep up the awesome work!
