Hello, Don Brandt. **his torch is approximately 170,000 Btu (British Thermal Units) and the temperature is 1980 Degrees Celsius or 3596 Degrees Fahrenheit** - The melting temperature of copper is +-1085 degrees Celsius. How did you learn about 1980 degrees Celsius?
the temps he is giving are at the business end of the torch. the chamber where that copper pipe is will never see anything close to that. I've seen many torch builds using the same copper pipe. some are even drilled and tapped for a MIG welder tip to screw in to better direct the flow of propane
OMG thank you. its nice to hear comments like this. I often get a critique and a complement. The two dont go well together. lol.. sure, my videos are far from perfect. Thank goodness for the video slider bar!! have a great day!

I've been watching a lot of videos like yours to learn & find good ideas to build my own & I have to tell you, yours is one of the best built one's I've seen so far, well as far as the burner that is and I plan to replicate yours over all the other ones. Not a good idea, nor the quick disconnects. You need something rated for gas, welding hose for the acetylene works good, so does hoses for grills. Check the hardware store for grill parts for one. The air fitting are notorious for leaks, use gas fittings. For a disconnect I used brass union. Its a nice build otherwise, don't scrimp on the hose and fittings after all that work.
Howdy nice torch, just wondering what size regulator do you have? I have two right now the one I am using is a 7psi to save on propane but I have a 20psi as well.
Nice job. But, over engineered and a lot more complicated than necessary. I made a similar style burner, I used a black iron cross pipe instead of a brass one and to hold the cross pipe in place, just a couple tack welds, simple, easy and effective.
@@DonBrandt you bet bud but that is in the upper range for silver so be careful not to boil it as unlike gold silver will lose a lot of weight when getting too hot.
Thanks for doing the conversion for us. Last night i was melting copper and it 30 degrees here in st louis. The tank started freezing up up and the pressure dropped. Needles to say, i was having problems getting the copper to melt. I had to submerge the propane tank in a bucket of hot water which increased the pressure. So, if someone build this torch, keep in mind about the temperature of your propane.
I've looked for the conversion from two different sites, it's not 5kw it's 50Kw. This is insane. the average cooking stove is 3 Kw and you hardly detect the propane tank cooling or to say it simply no one needs to tip their propane tanks in water while cooking. So this means you're using way above 5kw, it's 50 Kw.
@@MalawisLilleKanal How did you compute that your forge is using this much power. Like which strategy how did you use to come up with the 170,000 btu/hr I'm guessing like one could measure the weight of propane being drained per hour and convert that to power by assuming it was all burned up. Other more sophisticated methods like maybe a bob calorimeter, or boiling a pot of water and computing using H=M*C*delta T but it looks like you used a fairy accurate simple approach which I'm interested in Yeah, that torch is nuts, didn't expect such a big value. Nice work to begin with. You can do with forced air to help the combustion eg. from an air blower.
Cool device! Nice filming.
