Hello David! Excellent performance, I'm very impressed! I'm gonna use my K2 as my mixer, just like your setup and I would like to know how to map the vumeter inside the K2 leds.... can you help me?
Hello, thank you, I'm glad if you like it. :) Of course. In the Traktor mapping, you need to use the Mixer -> Meters section (OUT). There are many different Meters, currently on this mapping I using the Deck Post-Fader level. First, for trying, you can use the default Xone LED colors (red) by just pressing the button. You can see, that I'm using 5 led for one VU meter column. Mapped like this (from the bottom to the top) : Big left Layer button: Controller range 0.5 - 0.7 M button: 0.7 - 0.8 I button : 0.8 - 0.96 E button: 0.96 - 0.99 A button: 0.99 - 1.00 Blend checked for all. These values is like sensitivity values, you will see if you try these, or another similar values. This allows you to set when the LED flashes based on the music/volume. After that is done with the RED colors, if you want, you can set the green-orange colors like me. For that, you can see the MIDI command implementation in the K2's user manual. (www.allen-heath.com/media/Xone+K2_UG_AP8509_2.pdf ). Page 18. So for example, if you want to change the bottom big layer button's color to green, you need to change manually in the traktor's mapping. For example: From Ch01.Note.C0 TO Ch01.Note.G#0 changes the color from RED to GREEN. Etc etc. I hope I was able to help you! 🙂
Thank You! :) 🙌 I use the K2 for many different things: Track selection & loading, controlling the 4 channel's volume/EQ (like a 4 channel mixer), control for my headphones, some FX (FX slot 4 is controlled by the K2), and there is some manipulation for the step sequencer (for example, you can hear it at 49:50, the snare sound before the drop. Or at 52:15, playing with the clap sound from the step sequencer). It's a fully custom mapping for my needs.
HI Mate awesome set, I got a question... I have a xone K2 and I feel a bit short so im thinking buying a X1 to make it work do I need a sound card ? or can I connect the X1 into the zone without sound card ? cheers
Hi , thank you! :) No, The Xone K2 has a built-in soundcard, so it's not necessary to buy another soundcard. You can buy the X1 without any problem, you just need to connect with USB to your laptop (not into the Xone), and it's done.
Amazing job David! Really liked it, I was thrilled about the tone (pitch) control on the f1 as well. Quick question, you use two X1 so you will have loop control on 3 decks? Lets say I start with only on X1 - I will have loop control on only two decks and the third deck will be the remix deck? BTW, do u have Instagram profile?
Thank you! :) Yes, I also really like the pitch manipulation. Yes, I have loop control on A,B,C deck. I using the X1's for A,B,C,D deck control, and effects. Many-many effects. I like effects. :) With one X1 it's still possible, it's a mapping question only. Example: Let's see the left sided X1 in the video, with the red-orange encoders. With one X1, you can use the Red encoders for the A-B Looping, and one Orange encoder for C deck looping. If you want to use encoder for jog turn, there won't be too much room for the third deck. But everything is possible, just need to know how to map. But it is true that two X1s are more comfortable for 3-4 decks. Also, I think the MK1 X1 is better than the MK2 X1, becasuse the number of the Encoders. The MK2 x1 has only 3 encoders, instead of 4. Yes, i have a private instagram, with some DJ highlights. Cheers mate, I will definitely do that
I can't map to be able to listen in the headphones, how did you do it?
